It’s Vegas, baby! 🙂
One of the things I’m trying to pull together this year is a trip to Vegas with my childhood friends.
The mission? — to eat at some of Sin City’s yummiest restaurants and visit a fancy spa (or two), because a well-fed Karen plus deep-tissue massage equals one happy camper.
While I’m there, I’m also hoping to stop by the newly remodeled Chanel boutique at the Bellagio hotel.
To build some buzz around the new store, which opened earlier this year, Chanel recently released a four-piece collection of mostly golden baubles for lips, eyes, nails and cheeks called Las Vegas de Chanel, and this afternoon I tried my luck with three of the four pieces from the release.

Las Vegas de Chanel: Blackjack or Bust?
Le Crayon Levres in Vegas Gold The tip of this bright, shimmery golden pencil looks like a golden nugget! Applying, and then buffing it out with a soft domed brush like the MAC 217, reveals a soft layer of tiny golden glitter. I love the effect, but I wish the texture was a touch smoother. $29.

Lucky Stripes Iridescent Powders for Eyes and Cheeks Holy hundred dollars, Batman! A $95 palette!? Now that’s expensive, even for Chanel. Luckily, the four warm tones in this highly-pigmented powder palette can be worn separately or swirled together, and they feel silky smooth on my skin. $95

Le Vernis in Gold Fingers I think fingers and toes look like a million bucks (apiece!) wearing two coats of this sparkly golden nail polish, but the color isn’t exactly unique. Of course, that may not matter to you, depending on the severity of your addiction to Chanel. 🙂 $28.

The entire Las Vegas de Chanel collection includes…
- Le Crayon Levres in Vegas Gold, $29
- Lucky Stripes Iridescent Powders for Eyes and Cheeks, $95 (!)
- Le Vernis in Gold Fingers, $28
- Rouge Coco Shine in Brilliant, $32.50
This spring, if you happen to wake up one morning in Las Vegas (it happens), you can find the Las Vegas de Chanel collection at Chanel boutiques inside the Bellagio and Wynn hotels. It’s also available online now at chanel.com.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. I hope you had a great day today, but if you didn’t, I hope tomorrow’s better.
Tonight I just have a little bit of laundry to finish (it never ends!), and then it’s off to bed for me.

UGH these colors in the palette are so ME but I can’t justify spending $95 on a palette. It just ain’t right. You look lovely though xoxo
$95???? 😮
That pencil is for lips! I got the Le Vernis and the Rouge Coco Shine – love them both.
Ah, LOL, thanks Jennifer. I forgot to write “and lips” in the caption. 🙂
Wow you look absolutely stunning! And the first picture of you looks really good 😉
I’m not a big fan of gold (I just feel it doesn’t suit me) so I think I’ll pass on this one… Well at least my wallets happy!
I love these colors… especially on my dark brown skin
Love the palette, but the price… ouch!
The bronzer looks as good as gold 🙂
Luckily for me, I don’t want this collection 🙂
I just love Chanel limited edition powders, where was this one made? I’ve heard the ones made in Italy are the best quality! Not that I would ever spend $95 on this piece, but it’s interesting to know. 🙂
Hi Lalaru,
It was made in Italy. 🙂
$95? seriously? i love it but no. just no. 😀
I know! I was kind of surprised. Usually I’d expect powders like that to go for maybe $65 at the most… I guess it’s the Coco Premium!
Are you feeling better today? I hope so.
im better, thats for sure. 🙂 no use dwelling in the strange behaviour of other people.
its really such a pretty powder and would make a great twin sister to my horizon blush … 🙂
Nope for me as well. Ridiculous price.
I was surprised that it was priced so high, too.
yikes!!!! i’ll be in Vegas this weekend and staying at the Bellagio but I think I will pass this up.
How fun, Liliana! Maybe you could stop by just to look?
BTW, the Bellagio buffet is arguably one of the best in Vegas!
I’d love to have it but $95 is absurd. I would never spend that on a single product.
I know. It’s pricey even for Chanel! I do have to say the colors are gorgeous, though, especially if you wear warm gold and corals well.
Have I mentioned I LOVE it when your hair’s up like this? It’s super sophisticated and glam! The price tags are really a bit hefty, so I think I’ll give this collection a pass (though I’m pretty sure the power will work well for my warm undertone). Oh well. It’s Chanel!
Thanks, Sunny. I think I’ll have to do big hair more often!
How are you and the kitties doing today?
You will! It’ll be great for parties too!
We’re doing fine, thanks for asking! From the Moody Tabby picture I gathered Tabs was having some serious thoughts about where his modeling career would go lol
I love the gold pencil, but I already own Stila Smudge Stick in Koi, and that works great for me (and it’s cheaper too). 🙂
Glad to hear that you have a gold pencil that you like, Chris.
Did you manage to get your paper done?
It’s progressing (slowly). 🙂 I always pull through in the end.
this is the first time commenting on this blog even though i’ve been a follower for years. i.love.this. in fact, i love anything gold!
It’s nice to meet you, Irene! 🙂
Love the Iridescent powder! You look so elegant!
Thank you!
I live in Vegas and I frequently go to the Bellagio for the conservatory displays. They are wonderous! Unfortunately, I’m always there with my husband and kids who are notoriously short on patience, so no makeup shopping for me.
If you do come to Vegas and you and your friends are fans of Thai food, the best Thai restaurant in the country is here. It’s called Lotus of Siam, and it is terrific. Well worth going off strip.
I love the gold powder, beautiful!
I recently got Lucky Stripes and it looks absolutely gorgeous in the pan. Too bad I don’t like how it looks on me when used as a highlight or bronzer. =( I prefer my Dior Amber Diamond as a cheek highlighter because it gives me a natural glow.
I’m thinking these are too warm for my skin tone. I couldn’t justify spending $95 on that palette anyway. It is pretty though!
The stripes are gorgeous but my eyes did get a little big on the price. As you said, maybe if you were a die-hard Chanel fan. 🙂
I love the powder! I wasn’t gonna buy it because of the price but once I saw it on my hands, i fell for. I love this whole collection. It’s ok if you are a hardcore Chanel fan like myself otherwise skip it, you can find cheaper dupes anywhere, anytime.
