Trying to get good looks at the stylin’ manis and pedis on the female athletes at the 2012 Olympics in London is like a sport in and of itself! One minute I’m rooting for Dana Vollmer to break the world record in the 100-meter butterfly, next minute I’m screaming “Pan down! Pan down! Pan down!” at the TV to see her fierce fingers and toes.
Poor El Hub… Thank goodness I married a man with the patience to sit through my long, drawn out soliloquies on nail art and other beauty trends in international athletics, LOL!
And the athletes aren’t the only ones getting in on the action. People around the world are celebrating the London Olympics with their own gold medal-worthy manis.

WOW!!! what a stunning compilation! I loved the the Nailasaurus’s Manis really immaculate !
I blame this on Flo Jo. She had some crazy colored talons in the 80s. She was ahead of her time. Broke world records in track while in full hair and makeup with fabulous nails did.
Talk about being creative! I can’t imagine the work that must have gone in some of this nail art. I’m not a big fan of loud nail art myself, but for a special occasion (like this one), why not!.

Whoa…there are some seriously talented people out there. I already struggle enough just painting my nails one solid color–I would never be able to pull off any of those beautiful, intricate designs! I’m impressed!

These are amazing! I saw a gallery of Olympic swimmers’ nail art on People magazine’s site and it was lovely to see the athletes showing their country on their nails!

Loved seeing this! I wish I had nail art talent. They are all so creative.
Some of those designs are amazing. I think it’s awesome that the athletes are being creative with their nails. The chlorinated water must wreak havoc on the polish but it just looks so darn cool that it’s worth it. Plus, it’s probably really relaxing for them to have it done. 🙂
Me too! It’s really cool to see nail art having a moment. Before this the only person I can remember rockin’ the cool nails was FloJo back in the ’80s.
That’s true. It takes so much time (and artistic ability) to create beautiful nail art. It’s nice to see people getting some much deserved recognition. 🙂
