Time for a game of What If!
What if…you found a palette that satisfied both your appetite for stylish accessories and your appetite for makeup?

Blarney! you say? Nope, ’tis not science fiction. Tarte believes that such a thing exists, and it was last seen escaping from the Amazon!
Wait — that’s not right. It’s just called Amazon Escape, as in the Tarte Amazon Escape Amazonian Clay Eye & Cheek Palette, and for $44 it pledges to beautify your eyes and cheeks while improving your skin.
The secret sauce in this palette parolee? A skin-loving trifecta of Amazonian clay (to nourish skin, reduce oil and improve texture), vitamin E (which acts as an anti-inflammatory emollient and protects against damage by free radicals), and soothing mineral pigments shown to soften skin.
Just as important as all that…it’s cute! 🙂
And it’s on shelves now.
I have to admit, the packaging is what first caught my attention, but the colors and claimed skin benefits also make a compelling case, not that I can detect any results after testing it for a week.
Based on the colors, at least, I think it definitely deserves more time. The six powder shadows and two blushes in the kit are downright gorgeous!

The smooth, easy-to-blend blushes are saturated with color, and they’re just as long-wearing as the other Amazonian Clay Blushes I’ve tried.
The eyeshadows, on the other hand? — tricky, tricky, tricky. Even when I’m extra careful to tap off any excess product from my brush before applying them, these shadows exhibit significant fallout for me, and I find them rather difficult to blend, taking eye looks with gradients out of the picture. As I run my brush along the edges of each shade, shooting for a seamless transition, the colors run together, gah!
For simple looks with single washes of color on my lids, these shadows do just fine, but they struggle when it comes to blended looks with multiple shades.

Aww, that’s too bad. I haven’t tried Tarte shadows in a long time, mainly because of the issues you had with them. You look gorgeous in these shades!

Flashy is really stealing the show, though! It’s such a lovely bright-but-not-too-bright lip colour against your complexion 😉
I was going to get this palette, but with how you describe the shadows, I think I’m gonna pass. I love me some blending, so if the shadow doesn’t hold up, then I won’t be getting it. =/
Such a shame because I liked every single shade in this palette… I think I’ll probably just get 1 or 2 Amazonian Clay Blushes instead. :p
Uh, I’m definitely eyeing this palette even despite the fall out problem with the shadows. Oh dear. I think I need to sit me down and give a pep talk why I shouldn’t get it 🙂 Loving how the blushes look though…
looks so cute but i will have to pass. now if they did an all blush palette, you would have to probably tie me down to prevent me from getting it. 🙂
Wow–Exposed leans really pink on you! I had heard so many rave reviews about the Amazonian Clay blushes, but when I went to Sephora to pick up Exposed, I was shocked that the texture was really, really hard and not at all smooth. It went onto my skin really patchy and didn’t blend out well at all. Needless to say, I didn’t buy it. But I’ve read since then that you really have to be sure to use a proper brush to pick up the product. I used a sponge-tipped applicator, so maybe that’s why? I’m still undecided on whether or not I’ll try them again…it’s so hard when I know there are so many other brands’ blush formulas that I like a whole lot more :/
That’s too bad for the eyeshadows! The blushers look gorgeous though, and I’m glad I just grabbed Exposed at the friends & family sales 🙂
I tried it on at Sephora and it looks a lore more like a plummy beige on me.
Damn. Too bad about eyeshadows. Hope they make a blush palette out of amazonian clay blushes. Absolutely love those!

I bought a Tarte palette years ago and had the same issues with the eye shadows. Most of them didn’t blend well and the dark ones were too sheer.
I think Tarte should release a blush and highlighter palette as those formulas are spot on. I have issues with their powder shadows so I shy away from their palettes that contain them.
These look so gorgeous on you. It’s too bad about the shadows, I’m glad you do reviews for us.

I found that true about their eyeshadows in the big palette that they came out with a few years ago, they don’t combine well, and a lot of them are true to pan color anyway. Still have it though, the blushes in it are awesome.
I wish they would release Free as a blush single … 🙂
I wish these had turned out more blendable but still loving the packaging on this palette!
