Guess what, fellow style seekers! The MAC Styleseeker collection is now available online (yay!), and I thought it might be fun to do a quick tutorial this afternoon with a few of the pieces (complete with optional Victoria’s Secret wind tunnel effect).

The 24-piece collection contains a mix of rich, warm bronzes, purples, browns and reds punctuated by a smattering of lighter pinks, corals and beige shades.
Something about it just says, “globe trekker” to me and makes me want to check on airfares to Southeast Asia for fall, LOL!

But seriously, this look features a matte brown, and a shimmery golden orange eyeshadow, and a dark purple cat eyeliner on the eyes; a surprisingly wearable red blush on the cheeks; and a bronze gloss on my lips.
Here are the Styleseeker pieces I used…
- Eyeshadow X 2 in Marche Aux Puces (includes two powder shadows, the chestnut brown matte Indie Spirit and the mid-tone golden orange Chessa), $27.50
- Fluidline in Dark Diversion (a blackened plum with a pearl finish), $15
- Fluidline in Blacktrack (a matte black), $15
- Powder Blush in Hidden Treasure (a rich burned red with a satin finish), $20
- Lipglass in Restless (a dark burned bronze), $15
The eyes

I started with my eyes, using a finger to spread MAC Paint Pot in Quite Natural, a creamy matte brown eyeshadow, on my eyelids. The cream shadow acts as an intensifying base for the other eyeshadows I’ll apply on top.
Then, I grabbed some of Indie Spirit, the brown shade from the Eyeshadow X 2 Duo in Marche Aux Puces, with a MAC 217 Blending Brush, and applied it on my lids, concentrating most of the color on my lash line, and fading as I moved up.
After that, I took what was left on the brush and ran it along my lower lash line.

Next up, shimmer. Using a MAC 239 Eye Shader Brush, I applied Chessa, the shimmery golden orange shade from the same duo, directly on top of the brown shadow on my lids.

Then, with a MAC 224 Tapered Blending Brush, I gently blended Chessa and Indie Spirit together.
Time to get catty, mrrow! Here, I used a MAC 266 Small Angle Brush to line both my upper and lower water lines with Fluidline in Blacktrack, then wiped off the brush, and lined my upper and lower lash lines with Dark Diversion.

This time I added a tiny flick in the inner corner of the eye; I think it makes the eyes look a little more feline.
Wrapping up the eyes, I filled in my brows and applied mascara.
The cheeks

Now where’d I put my MAC 188…?
Oh, there it is! Tabs, don’t play with mommy’s brushes!
Now, using my MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush, I applied MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Give Me Sun, a matte peachy tan, along my cheekbones to add some warmth and depth to the look.
Still with the 188, I swept the burned red blush, Hidden Treasure, on the apples of my cheeks.
The lips

To tie the whole look together, I swept a layer of Lipglass in Restless on my lips.
All done!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Karen – you are STUNNING!!! WOW! I love this look with the new collection. I had my eye on the e/s duo but I’m for sure getting it now. I was thinking about getting hidden treasure but it looks like NARS amour, which is what I already have. Do you think they’re similar to one another?
Hi Ava,
Thank you, boo! 🙂
I have NARS Amour too and love it. It’s very different compared to Hidden Treasure. It’s lighter and more pink, while Hidden Treasure is darker and more of an intense, rich red.
I’m in the middle of doing some writing right now, but when I’m done I’ll try to do a quick comparison swatch for you.
Ava, here’s the comparison swatch. From the left: NARS Mounia, MAC Hidden Treasure, NARS Amour and NARS Cactus Flower.
Oh thanks so much, karen! I appreciate the swatches! Amour and Hidden Treasure are much different than I thought.
PS: I’m taking this makeup look to do for a bachelorette party. Woo hoo! Thanks again, karen 🙂
Gorgeous! Intense, but I love the plummy eyeliner.
Thanks, Chelsea! What are you, Jiji and Quincy up to this weekend?
Saturday we’re going to a family reunion for my fiance’s family 🙂 It’s only an hour away, and it should be fun! Quincy and Jiji will probably nap all weekend :p
Lucky fur kids! I wish I could spend the entire weekend napping, le sigh!
Have fun at the reunion. Do you know what makeup you’re going to wear?
It’s a pretty casual event, so nothing too fancy! I’m thinking a light gold on the lid, and I usually do a taupey matte color in the crease, and brown gel liner (with a tiny wing, as usual). I’ll probably just do a Burt’s Bees tinted balm on the lips (I like Hibiscus, but I have Rose too…)
I have two weeks off in between summer and fall semesters starting on Wednesday, so hopefully I’ll have some days of sleeping all day!
You look SO AMAZING. I think Tabs would be proud. Although I was already planning on getting the two blushes you posted swatches of earlier, you have now convinced me that I NEED that eyeshadow duo and eyeliner in my life.
If you hear any hysterical sobbing don’t panic- that’s just my bank account begging for mercy.
Hi Dhariane,
Aww, thanks! You will absolutely love Dark Diversion. It’s one of my favorite Fluidlines. It’s such a nice alternative to regular old black liner. 🙂
Have a great night!
I love what you’ve done with this makeup look, it’s something I’d love to try. But let’s talk about that awesome 1st picture. Totally fun!
Hi Cheri,
Thanks! Yeah, I had a lot of fun with that pic. 🙂
I do hope you give this look a try. You could always use non-MAC colors if you don’t have these around!
Totally tripped me out….. ” did karen just wink at me?” Great picture!
Thanks Jennifer! 🙂 Hope you had a nice Friday.
You look absolutely stunning! I really love your makeup in this, and in the other tutorials you did. I’m finally learning how to blend better, and thanks to your tips my makeup is looking prettier just by making a few small changes to my technique. I did try out MAC Club with a pretty green eyeliner, UD’s Junkie. They made a great combo! Junkie really brought out Club’s peacock tones.
Your tutorials are an excellent example of how makeup enhances your natural beauty but isn’t the main focus and doesn’t take away from it. This particular look makes you have an exotic look!
Hi Katherine!
So glad you had the chance to try Club with UD Junkie. YAY! If you haven’t already, try it with a bronze liner too. Super, super pretty.
Anywho, also happy to hear you’re also seeing a difference in your blending/looks/techniques. That makes me so happy.
I’m going to try to keep doing these tutorials…I really enjoy them.
So what’s the plan for the weekend?
I almost jumped out of my seat when I was browsing through my blogger dashboard and saw you “wink” at me!! hahha..Awesome picture and I’m digging your makeup as usual, especially the eyeliner. =)
Thanks, lady! XO Have a great weekend!

Wow that’s ahhmazing! I can’t wait to try this tomorrow. Love your quick and easy to follow picture tutorials.
Wow, this look makes your eyes so mesmerizing!
It requires some eyelining skills, and unfortunately I have a hard time making my lines look so good!
Love your tutorials Karen! I bet they take forever and we appreciate all your hard work. 🙂 I really love that lipgloss on you. Perfect mix of rose and brown!
Very nice! You should start up a youtube channel!

Whoa, that GIF was seriously awesome and really tripped me out at first 😛
Another great look. I really love the cat eyes!
Oh my god, I love the gif! It kind of freaked me out at first because I’ve never seen your pictures move before, but it’s such a great idea! I like how it shows your eyes in motion to give your intense look the full effect.
You look stunning! I wasn’t planning on getting anything from this collection but this tutorial changed my mind lol
You are terrific with the application of the liner for those eyes…but don’t hate me if I say I don’t like the look on you.
It’s a bit too much – you are so pretty – maybe it the extension of the line in the inner corners that makes it over the top?
Looking hot, Karen 😉
This look is stunning! You look like a model no jokes. Now I have to get that fluid line and blush. Waay too gorgeous to pass up!
really love how you lined your eyes… how did you do that?
I’m definitely picking up Hidden Treasure! I really like how you’ve layered the eye shadows. I’ve never really tried this trick before!
On another note, your swatch of NARS Amour just reminded me of how much I love this shade! I wore it for my Graduation Ceremony today and it looked fabulous!
love the hair blowing. had to look twice to make sure i wasn’t seeing things. CUTE.
These are the most fierce cat eyes I’ve seen! Love the look on you Karen! (And wow your hair’s blowing AND you’re blinking at me. Cool!)
Wow, that first picture of you made me do a double take! Beautiful!
Curious: did u use the app cinemagram to do it???
LOVE the hair blowing in the wind effect. Your eyeliner looks so gorgeous in this tutorial too!

This look is GORGEOUS!! OMG I’m truly speechless. Now I’m adding dark diversion and butter london shag to my fall collection must have list as well
Karen, I am loving the purple liner on you. I picked up some Dark Diversion myself and I am in lurve…especially for brown eyed gals. It really makes them pop. Looking gorgeous!
Oh my goodness, you look so beautiful!!! I am not a MAC user/wearer, but you make me want to go out and buy all of th products you used. Thank you for providing a tutorial of what you used and which brushes to use. Gorgeous look. 🙂
Omg. I’m totally fangirling right now because of how much I LOVE – TRULY MADLY DEEEEPLY – LOVE this makeup look of yours. Now, I’ve never truly successfully attempted lining my inner corner but I am convinced that I MUST try or die trying.
