If you’re wearing one of Urban Decay’s two new limited edition $49 palettes inspired by the upcoming Disney flick, Oz the Great and Powerful, and someone shouts, “Witch!” DO NOT bust out your Tae Bo moves.
I repeat: no Tae Bo, Jiu-jitsu or Aikido moves, and absolutely DO NOT remove your hoop earrings.
Throw no blows! — because they’re just complimenting you on your makeup. 🙂
The two colorful palettes, Glinda and Theodora, recently materialized online — POOF! — just like witchcraft, tying in with the new Oz film with makeup to recreate the looks worn by the witches played by Mila Kunis and Michelle Williams.
And this time, Urban Decay went all out!
These aren’t just some of their existing products in fancy packaging (not that I don’t like some of those palettes too). They created all-new colors here, and even included tutorials.
Nothing half-@ssed or cheesy. I feel like UD put a lot of thought into both products.
Each one comes with eight completely new eyeshadow shades…even though there are only six pans (two of the pans in each palette are duos), and the pans contain 0.05 ounces of product, making them the same size as Urban Decay’s interchangeable full-size shadow pans.
Urban Decay also included a gloss and liner with each palette, considerately completing the look.
First, Theodora — the richer, moodier magician who excels at conjuring up fab looks for brown smokey eyes.

Glinda, the springier spell caster here, casts her cosmetics incantations by harnessing the power of peach, pink, purple, taupe and silver shades, and with all of these swatches, I only needed a single swipe to see vibrant, intense color.
I actually like how Urban Decay limited the number of shadows this time around to eight each because while I also think it’s neat to have zillions of shadows in a single blockbuster palette (hey there, Alice in Wonderland), those can be a little overwhelming for me (not to mention, huge!).
In this case, I like eight… It seems like a good number.
Oh, and the palettes are always reusable. You could always swap any of the colors with one or more of Urban Decay’s other eyeshadows, which is also an option.
As for price, $49 does seem expensive, but it represents a pretty good price break. Purchased individually for $18 each, six full-size UD single pans would set you back $108.
Yup, I love the mix of colors this time… Lots of good stuff here (I almost want to wear them all at once!).

I really really love both but I think Theodor is my favourite. The red lipgloss pencil did it for me I guess, lol! Are you doing a look with them Karen? 🙂

Geez, how on earth to choose–they’re both SO gorgeous! I mainly stick with neutrals on my eyes but when i do wear color, it’s either purple or green, so UD did a great job picking the shades! 😀 I also still have yet to try the new eyeshadow formula so I must really get on that

Sooo beautiful! I am going to get the Glinda palette, I think I will wait till it’s available on Sephora.com so I get get free shipping and some samples although I am really tempted to just buy it from urban decay.com. You should do some looks with both palettes.

Glinda palette you WILL be mine! As much as I love me some sultry red and deeper colors I’m ready for spring and summer colors to get here and brighten things up.

I’m a little jealous, Glinda’s colors show up so beautifully against your skin! Aura, Magic, Illusion and the lip pencil didn’t really show up against my coloring and Oz was like fall-out city, so even though I swatched both palettes for my site I only took home Theodora. It’s such a fabulous palette though – sultry natural colors but greens and a gold I know I’ll be reaching for this spring, PLUS a full size lip pencil? Amazing deal in my book.
Wow, I really like that Glinda pallet. Very tempted, even though I swore off buying anymore UD shadows as I really hate the new formula.
UD hasn’t even tempted me since the release of Naked2, but I have a feeling I will give into this…
I really want to get one of these, but which one? I am leaning toward Theodora, but can’t decide.
I’m gonna convince a friend of mine (fellow makeup addict) to buy one palette; I’ll get the other, and we’ll just swap the eyeshadows and pencils we like into the design we like. She loves pinks, and dark shades, and she’ll LOVE the red lip pencil. I’m more into golds and a neutral lip. THANKS FOR THE SWATCHES!!!!
There are a couple of shades in Glinda that I love (hello South!), but I’m more about Theodora! I like the the duo shadows, and it’d be a great opportunity to score the build your own palette at a good price!
THIS is LIKE! I LOVE the idea of putting the charecters looks on the back with a tutorial! LOVE the colors too, seem very wearable!
I actually like both of these, which surprises even me since I’m normally not a fan of “springy” colors. Can’t wait to see your FOTDs with these. 🙂

I was totally not interested in either of these palettes but after seeing your swatches, Karen… OMG! I think I’ll be using the Glinda palette on my best friend for her wedding. The colors are perfect and you really can’t go wrong with Urban Decay! 🙂
While I prefer Glinda’s reputation, I think I prefer Theodora’s palette!

I ordered Glinda but I want the Theodora too. The lip colors are actually available Glinda is a mix between Naked and Lovechild more Naked to me and the red is F-Bomb I kid you not. Go on UD and look at the colors there dead ringers so if you don’t get the palettes you can have the dupes of the lip colors. To me though the palettes are out of this world gorgeous. Thanks for the great review!
