Went to Anthropologie a few days ago and tried on a few big necklaces for fun. 🙂
I like bold jewelry, but I think both these pieces might be a little *too* big for me.
What’s your take on oversized necklaces like these? Are they a do or a don’t in your book?

I actually think both look REALLY nice on you! I have big earrings. I change my earrings all the time, so I don’t mind some crazier ones at all. However, I tend to stick to necklaces, so most of them have to be the “go with everything” type.
I like big earrings too.
The first one is kinda big but I really like the second one and I generally like the collar necklaces, paired with a right outfit they are really cool.

I like them and both look great on you! The only way I wear big, bold necklaces like these is as a statement piece – I pair them with something like a plain long-sleeve shirt so that they really pop and aren’t competing with whatever else I’m wearing. I don’t know if I’d pay almost $50 for a necklace though :\

Ah, I love big jewelry ! That´s perfect to give “chic”, with a simple shirt ( blouse ?) or a dark dress. The first one is amazing !
I really don’t wear a ton of jewelry, and not big necklaces. I like them on other people, but not me – just doesn’t seem “me.” I wear a lot of scarves, and if I wear a necklace, I generally like long ones (I have this gold and black long H&M necklace with bunny pendants, I love that, of course).
My ears have never been pierced, and I don’t wear clip-on earrings, so I don’t have much of an opinion on earrings!
Your bunny pendant sounds adorable. (I love bunny-themed things.) Please tell me you have a bunny scarf… that would be rad!
no bunny scarf, sadly… I do have a tunic from H&M (I think it’s meant to be a dress, but they cut their clothes for people shorter than me!) that looks kind of like houndstooth, but it’s bunnies.
I need more cat apparel and accessories though.
Thankfully the marketplace is filled with things for cat ladies, LOL! That reminds me, I still need to get those crazy space cat leggings.
Did I ever tell you about the lady I saw in Hawaii with a tabby cat t-shirt that said “Tabby or not tabby? That is the question.” I almost ripped that thing off of her!! It was so CCL.

Big necklaces are just about the only jewelry I wear, but I have the mixed fortune of being 6 feet tall and really into weightlifting, so often they’re the only jewelry that *fits*. It’s really all about balance, though, big jewelry is gonna look better on folks who are proportionate to it be it with their size, big hair, or outlandish style, and it’s going to drown out dainty ladies and make ’em look like they’ve been playing in their mom’s jewelry stash. She-Hulk approves!
Oh lord, I about spit out my coffee! But I agree completely, big jewelry will look good on those that can pull it off because of their style anyways, or size (like, I can’t wear super dainty jewelry – I’m a fluffy bunny over here!). I also think that big statement pieces look best when paired with a super simple outfit – monochromatic outfit with a super chunky bracelet OR a big necklace – I likey!

Overall, I like giant necklaces, but they never, ever look good on me. But I support them for those who can pull them off.

Love the statement necklaces! But I agree, petite people need to approach with caution. I love the collar one on you- hits perfectly! But the first one falls a bit low. It is like we need tailors for our clothes- we need jewelers to take off a couple of links, alter it just so and it will not overwhelm out petite silhouettes. Spring is all about fashion risk, IMO, so you go for it and rock out those cute hats and statement necklaces!
I think they’re really pretty for events. The second one is more my style, and it looks really great on you.
I think the first would overwhelm me, being as I’m petite.
I love big necklaces! But I try to purchase some that are pretty but not too expensive. SamMoon.com is my go-to place for fun, trendy pieces (actually, there are a bunch of stand-alone stores in Texas, so I usually go to those rather than shop online). Anyway, they have TONS of statement necklaces for under $15-$20!

What’s the quality like? I’m assuming, at those prices, probably similar to the jewelry sold at Forever21 – with the finish on the “gold” plated stuff rubbing off after a few wearings? (That’s not bad at those prices, BTW – I’m just curious).
Yeah some of it can be kind of cheap, which is why I usually shop in-store, rather than online. But the prices are so low, I don’t mind paying for something I’ll probably only wear a few times. But I haven’t gotten a green neck from any of them yet and I always get compliments! Haha
I like both of them on you – just not with that sweater (I like the sweater, but the look is too “busy” with either necklace). I think either necklace should be worn with a solid color top, and the first necklace – the one with the stones – adjusted so a tad bit shorter.
Both necklaces are “statement pieces,” so you would want them to be the focal point of the outfit – at least from the waist up. Keep any other accessories to a minimum.

I love statement necklaces. It makes even jeans and a tee look more stylish. I forgot to say that I like your sweater. It’s the same one from the hat post. It reminds me of one I had in the 80’s. Mine had a red bow in the middle and large black herringbone print on the sleeves.
I find big necklaces to be slightly aging. They seem to belong on a 60 year old woman. However there are some that can pull it off, I am not one of them, lol! Your bow sweater is fantastic btw!

Ok, being that I’m a jewelry designer I need to weigh in here. I love all sorts of jewelry styles. I do love a great statement necklace for sure. However, one size does not fit all here. What looks like a chunky statement necklace on me might look like a roller skate on someone else. It all depends on your stature. Personally, I think that necklace is gorgeous, but it’s too big for your petite frame. Go a few sizes smaller and then you’ll be in business!
To be honest I really don’t like the statement necklace trend. I admit I do think it looks nice in some cases, but it’s just not for me at all. I never really go for chunky jewelry.
