Back when Jen, Cindy and I cruised around our suburban hometown listening to TLC on tape (from a portable boom box set on the front passenger seat floor of Jen’s old, white Datsun 510), the craziest drugstore polish I can remember was Revlon Cherries in the Snow.
We had no python greens, gunmetal grays, hexagonal glitters or holographic formulas. Our standard issue nail polish colors were pink, beige, red and occasionally a really, really dark wine…for when you were feeling extra rebellious. 🙂
Maybe that’s why I feel the past tugging at the corners of my mind when I wear limited edition Estée Lauder Nail Lacquer in Pink Paisley from the new Mad Men Collection…
This shimmery, cool-toned pastel pink was created to evoke the swingin’ late 60s, the time during which the latest season of Mad Men is set, but I’m also getting a decidedly late ’80s/early ’90s vibe.
I’m pretty sure I sported something similar to the prom…
I dig the color and the retro packaging, but I do wish it didn’t take so much patience to apply. I’m finding that anything less than four layers can look a little streaky.
At least it dries relatively quickly… Even though it isn’t technically a quick-dry polish, four layers take about 15 minutes to dry.
I see this shade, like Pinkadelic lipstick, being more for Mad Men die-hards, since you could probably find something similar for less (and that requires fewer layers).

4 coats!? You’d think EL could make it a bit more opaque.
Some of their polishes are one coaters, unfortch this one isn’t. You could go with 1-2 coats and wear it sheer, but I like it fully opaque. 🙂
4 coats? If my polish isn’t good with 2, then I’m fairly done with it. Too bad though .. it is a lovely shade!

15 mins for drying 4 coats.. that required lots of patience.. but shade is pretty.. your picture in background is very cute…

That’s a pretty shade, but for 4 coats?! I never bother with nail polishes that require more than 2.

Yeah, I know what you mean. When I’m in a hurry, I have no patience for multiple coats. But sometimes I don’t mind it, especially when the color’s beautiful.

Hello!!! I’m trying to catch up from my trip but wanted to stop in since it’s been an entire week (gah!). I love the prom picture; it’s super cute. I also laughed at Matt’s hair (and makeup) on the EW cover. Love the feathered style. That said, I don’t think it works as well as Ben’s Argo hair and beard. 🙂

It was good but we were there during the only days when it wasn’t in the 70s/80s. It was cool and overcast but 99% was working inside so I didn’t mind. I got to dip my feet in the ocean, so that covered the important stuff. 🙂
Yes, I grabbed a bunch of loot: Smooth Operator, Becca Beach Tint duo (watermelon and fig), MUFE Aqua Brows and an angled brush to apply. B’day gift was Benefit mascara and Watt’s up (duo) and grabbed a Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta peel pack as the 100 point gift. Huge haul for me!! 🙂

I really should have waited for your review on this one. I am such an EL polish fan that when I saw it and the words “Limited Edition”, I pre-ordered sight unseen. As soon as it arrived at counters I swatched and knew I’d made a mistake. I had to return. Too streaky and patchy, just an off consistency for EL(their formula is usually tops!) and you are right, several coats to get it to behave. Worse still the color dried frosty retro on me, when I much prefer lit-from-within shimmer. Hated having to return that cute little bottle. 🙁

Aw, I love me some Mad Men and make up – together? My wallet quivers a bit in fear for the spending I’m about to do! The bottle is major cute but I am too twitchy to spend the time to do four coats to get the colour opaque. Gorgeous colour though.
Haha, my mum used to only allowed me to use clear or pink nail polish when I was younger. Now, I’m rocking bright neon yellow nails (Rare by Illamasqua)- how far nail colour selections have come.

Four coats is far too many. I’m happy if I do two! Its a gorgeous color but I think I will be finding a similar shade in a more opaque formula.
