When I got home from the salon this afternoon (took off about 2 inches and got some layers), Tabs was meowing up a storm.
“Mrrroow!?” Where the heck have you been!?
“MRRRROWWW!” If you don’t preview the new NARS Summer 2013 collection for me, I WILL CUT YOU!
And I believed him (seriously, have you seen that cat’s claws? SHARP!).

Now, the hair!
I didn’t have a plan, other than getting my roots done, when I sat my booty in the chair, but my buddy Alis at A Line Salon, whom I always trust with my hair, suggested we take off a few inches, add longer layers, a side sweep and brighter caramel highlights.
Alis also used a flat iron and a smoothing cream from Kerastase called Creme Oleo Relax Slim to turn my wavy hair pin straight.
Yea! 🙂
I like how it turned out, but El Hub made a big fuss about the length when he got home.
You know how men are about women and long hair. At first he smiled and said, “You cut your hair!”
Then he noticed that it was a little shorter than before and totally deflated. “I got you salad [for dinner] and you cut your hair…”
Dudes.
Holy awesome sauce, I’m so glad tomorrow’s Friday! It’s been rainy and gloomy here all week, but not rainy like “The reservoirs are filled!” Rainy like a misty, wet haze that doesn’t really do anyone any good.
Bluh.

P.S. What a sad day for movie lovers. Did you hear that film critic Roger Ebert passed away? I can’t believe I’ll never get to read another one of Ebert’s reviews for a new movie.
I’m very sad… RIP, Mr. Ebert. I hope they have a great selection of movies to watch where you are now.

As an owner of Mad, Mad, World you gotta know I love the brights! The new Fashion Rebel has me falling in love all over again with Nars.
Karen, I LOVE your hair! The layers are beautiful, the color is stunning, your stylist did an awesome job! The Nars collection is looking pretty good too. From the swatches I really like the mint eyeliner and the Multiple. Oh and the lipgloss too!
Your hair is gorgeous! Don’t you just love it when your stylist cuts your hair perfectly and understands the texture so well that you can actually sit back, relax, and know that you are going to leave the salon looking good? I met my favourite stylist two years ago and since then I cannot let anybody else cut my hair. She has transformed my hair from dull to classy with an edge 🙂
NARS Summer looks really good – especially the Madness nail polish and the Puerto Vallarta multiple. What do you think of the staying power of NARS Multiples, Karen?
I’ve tried the Pro Prime oil free primer before and I liked it, but more in colder weather than warmer weather. The MUA said it was silicone free and I think that is why I liked it.

Love the lipstick and gloss! I’ve been growing my hair since fall (forever) and it’s half way to my shoulders. Mr. M would love if I go back to a pixie. He loves extra short hair 😀
This collection looks great! There are a few things I’m definitely picking up! And I understand the hair thing haha. I recently when from red/auburn to dark brown. I’m going back to red at my next appointment lol. Now that I know what I look like brunette, I’m ready for my old hair again.

I’ve been really into mint lately and loving the NARS Barrow Street Larger Than Life eyeliner. Hopefully, they’ll come out with a nail polish similar to that shade. It’ll look so cute for the Summer, especially on my toes with my feet slightly huddled in the sand on the beach. =)

I hear you on the menfolk and long hair. Whenever I get mine bobbed, the Hubs tells me I look like the Little Dutch Boy. HAHA! I actually just had mine cut over the weekend (but just a couple inches off and some layering, too).
Very sad about Roger Ebert. It really is the end of an era for movie reviews (with both RE and Gene Siskel being gone).
On a makeup note, I’ll be interested to see how you rock the Fashion Rebel duo, particularly that yellow!!!

We totally got similar things done to our hair – I went to the salon Wednesday and got 2 inches off, touched up the layers and got side swept bangs/chin length layers a la Olivia Wilde or Kristen Kreuk (Lana in Smallville and Cat Chandler in Beauty and the Beast). My fiance totally did the whole, “your hair is shorter!” thing too. I LOVE that new Nars duo – in 2 of my fave colors so will totally have to go splurge on that one for sure.

I glanced at the first picture in this post and could’ve sworn you were wearing a NARS shirt haha! Which leads me to wonder, if you had a black t-shirt with the NARS logo on the front, would you wear it?
