Sally Hansen usually rocks when it comes to lip products (you gotta try the Color Comfort Lip Color lipsticks, yo!), which is why the Ultra Soothing Lip Tints from the Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy line ($10) threw me for a loop.
I didn’t expect Cranberry (peach), Pomegranate (red) and Melon (hot pink) to provide full-color coverage, but I expected them to pack at least a little pigment.
I should have known something was up from how sheer they looked in the swatches on the back of my hand…
They yielded almost no color on my lips. The tint’s M.I.A., just like Joaquin Phoenix’s good sense!
The lip swatch below shows Melon, the brightest shade of the bunch, after one layer. Apart from the shine, I think my lips look like they’re bare.
I’m disappointed in the pigmentation, but Ultra Soothing still has some things going for it. I think the tube’s cute, and the gloss tastes and smells like strawberry hard candy (YUM!). It’s also non-stick and does seem to work well as a lip moisturizer. I noticed softer, smoother lips after just a few hours, but does that make up for the lack of color?

Ooh the container and gloss are adorable (of course *I* would say a lip gloss was “adorable” psh it’s not a bunny rabbit LOL) but I guess there’s no point in buying these if they’re so sheer. Too bad, they look flippin delicious =]

And this is where i have no common sense.. id buy it because its a slim fit for a purse and to top up my lipstick. No idea why but the pomegranate really appeals to me!!

i have a stash of lip stuff i keep on my desk lol usually i slather them on during the work day so sheer colors are the drug of choice for me cause i tend to be messy applying them with one hand (the left) while my right is on the mouse!
this would be a nice addition since i seem to be needing an upgrade these days
I think if Mr. Phoenix cut his hair and trimmed the beard he’d look like an aspiring hip hop artist…instead of a wild man of the woods.

Yeah, it’s so disappointing that they aren’t as pigmented as they look in the tube! I guess if you’re in need of another lip treatment/balm then this might come in handy, but personally speaking, I have enough of those lying around not to mention all my Philosophy Lip Shines and MAC TLCs (that actually have pigment and smell good).
And yes, Mr. J. Phoenix could really use some… err… grooming and possibly some man-scaping of the eyebrows as well 🙂
I am so sad about this whole Joaquin “issue”. He’s SO talented and amazing, I hate to see him looking like a homeless man on Telegraph Ave. 🙁 Did you watch the whole David Letterman interview with him? It was excruciatingly uncomfortable!

Have you tried the Lipnotic Gem glosses? They must be dazzleglass knockoffs, they aren’t as glittery but they’re really gorgeous.

Ohhh, I haven’t tried those yet! They sound really fabulous. I like subdued glitter so I would probably really like them. I hope they have them at Rite Aid. 🙂

I just got one of these today. I kinda wish I got the red lip gloss from this line instead…. it was such a pretty red with sparkles. But I figured I would get more use out of this. I still like it and mine has a fair amount of tint (I got Plumberry). It’s just a sheer reddish tint which is what I was going for. Mostly I was just so glad that my Long’s still had a ton of Carmindy stuff even though the 50% off sale ends tomorrow. hehe.
Your right there is absolutely no color payoff!! But the way they make my lips fee is AMAZING! That coupled with the fact that my CVS is currently sellilng them for 75% off = me buy all of them!!!
