Rise and shine, morning glory. I hope you slept well.
How are you this morning? I haven’t been up long (yes, the Tabster allowed me to sleep in). I’m just relaxing on the couch with a cup of joe and watching some nonsense on Bravo (what is up with the dudes on Online Dating Rituals of the American Male!? I can’t tell if some of them are faking for the cameras or if they really are that terrible.).
What I really want to do this weekend is start working on my deck garden. Every spring we plant cat-friendly echinacea, zinnia, catnip and some other things Tabs really likes on the back deck, and since he’s primarily an indoor kitty (with frequent outdoor leash walks, of course), it becomes his respite from the great indoors.
Last year the garden became infested with whiteflies, and they basically destroyed everything. I didn’t want to use real-deal pesticides to get rid of them, so I tried some natural things, including earthworm castings and lemon/vinegar sprays, which I’d read about online, but nothing worked (I didn’t try ladybugs, however, which I’d read might do the trick).
Since then I cleaned everything out — every pot, planter and even the wooden deck surface — so hopefully with some brand new soil this year, the flies don’t get a foothold.
Oh! I almost forgot. Last night after Thai food I watched Burlesque on Bravo with Cher and xtina.
Not a great movie at all, but so. much. fun. 🙂

My everyday makeup/skincare routine: 1. I moisturize with Clinique’s dramatically different gel 2. Put on Pond’s eye cream, and lip salve on my lips 3. Urban Decay’s Lash lush system on my lash lines. 4. Bobbi Brown BB cream all over my face 4. Nyx matte lipstick in Stockholm on my lips 5. Line my eyes with a Bobbi Brown Sepia/brown gel liner 6. Curl my lashes and put on Heroine Make (Japanese cult brand – a must try!) mascara. 7. Fill in my eyebrows with MUFE’s aqua brow or H&M’s eyebrow pencil (such a steal btw). Ta-da!

The weather is getting warmer and the days longer I Love Spring.
I am a HUGE Beatles fan. I just saw Beatles Rain perform at the theater a few months ago and have their poster above my bed. My favorite song would be either “Something” or “In My Life.”

I like facial hair. My husband has a goatee because he forgot to take his shaving cream on vacation last week n just was too tired to shave this week. He always shaves i off but he looks sooo good with a goatee. Crossing my fingers he doesnt shave it off. They even told him at work that he looks better with it.

I was shocked to see grass around the edges when I looked in the backyard today, we had 2+ feet of snow back there up until last week. It’s 28F at the moment but apparently we might reach 50s next week. Looking forward to spring. 🙂 I do like the winter but they can feel a little long in Minnesota some years!
Yes to bright liner!, makes a great accent to an otherwise neutral look and anything glitter for the eyes, glitter gloss is good sometimes too. 😀

bright eyeliner is alright depending on the look. I am not sure I could get away with it anymore (i’m 40) but i used to wear bright eyeliner all the time in my younger days 🙂
I love using a different coloured eyeliner on my water line for a pop of colour! A makeup problem I have when applying makeup is when I do winged eyeliner! The wings never look the same 🙁

Annoying make-up problem? I have recently realized that the shape of my eyes is slightly different, and I have to be really careful with packing on eyeshadow on my left eyelid not to go too far outside, even if I do the same moves as I do with my right one…

Something I learned on YouTube… Where do I start? Wayne Goss showed me how to blend eyeshadow. Jaclyn Hill showed me how much better foundation goes on with a brush. Many, many others provide inspiration. Oh and I learned how to do a wrapped loop for jewellery making 🙂

My most annoying makeup problem right now is my own inability to remember to reapply my lip color during the day 🙂 I just bought the Swinger lipstick from Buxom and I love it – just wish I could remember to wear it all day!

Hola Karen, I keep sharing and hoping to win that $50 dollar Sephora card. My pocketbook will benefit from some God-sent blessings (so will my face:)). I love the way a dewy face looks, especially now as I am a so-called “mature” woman. The dewy look is a younger look that makes skin look healthy and glowing. Reading blogs, like yours, helps me understand how to use my make up to achieve a new Me. The great news is that tomorrow I am now able to wear all of my regular street clothes. I was undergoing a spiritual initiation for one year and seven days, one of the major requirements was wearing White everything, including White skirts, for the entire period. With the grace of God and the Universe, I succeeded made it through. This is saying so much about my faith as I am a die-hard Fashionista. Just got back from a holiday to Korea and am so excited to try out the products I picked up, especially the lip tints and nail polishes. They make some great makeup products over there and they’re so affordable!

Some things I have learned from YouTube are how to do easy winged eyeliner, and how to contour and use blush (even though I never do either of those things. ha!)

I LOVE brightly colored eyeliner- since I have hooded eyes, a lot of eyeshadow looks are wasted on me so I love a barely-there eye with bold liner.

I really really love makeup, but I find it hard to do sometimes because I have alopecia and I lost hair in my whole body, thankfully most of it grew back but I still don’t have a full eyelashes or eyebrows, just a few hair here and there. so to me i struggle sometimes drawing my eyebrows and what kind of brand that will work on my face and will be waterproof and not smudge. I’ve been doing great so far and I want people with any kind of hair loss to feel pretty and awesome because WE ARE ^^
When I was younger I HATED facial hair. When I first met my husband he always had a full goatee and that took some getting used to and for the past few years he has always worn a full (very full) beard in the winter. And now I have to say that I would be very upset if he shaved it all off completely. (He looks terrible without it lol).

YES to bright eyeliner!
Bright colorful eyeliner — YES! If I don’t have time to do eye makeup in the morning, I’ll put some teal mascara on my waterline, throw on some mascara, and go! That pop of color is just enough for something “special” but only takes a few seconds and then I’m on my way.
Most annoying makeup problem—I have a choice between looking young and tired or old and rested when it comes to my under-eye area. I have yet to find an undereye concealer that doesn’t settle into the fine lines so I either wear concealer which makes me look older but then covers the dark circles, or skip concealer and just go with a nice under-eye moisturizer and have dark circles but no makeup settling into the lines. Sigh. Most days I pick young and tired, haha.
I’ve never taken an ‘official’ makeup class. Closest I’ve come was back in college when a friend decided to become a Mary Kay consultant to make some extra money. She practiced her makeup applications on all of her friends, and tried to give us pointers that she was being taught by MK, lol…

I’m struggling with wanting the full coverage of foundation but also the ease of tinted moisturizer. So far two layers of Nars TM is doing the trick, but I might go out and buy the Nars sheer glow 🙂

A annoying makeup problem right now is having my face makeup match, most of it is all of a sudden too pink so I need to go buy something new:/ annoying but not a big problem
my annoying makeup problem…when i do my makeup in the morning, it is still dark out. i have an ottlite mirror with daylight bulbs, but when i get to the office later, and the sun comes up, i notice that my makeup is way brighter in real sunlight…sometimes pushing work appropriate.
I’ve been annoyed lately with how Urban Decay’s Sidecar eyeshadow from the Naked palette gets silver glitter fallout all over my cheeks! Its a gorgeous color but AAAAAH hahaha!
Unfortunately after 18 inches of snow on Wednesday we still have snow on the ground. I can’t wait for spring.
My biggest makeup problem lately has been concealer, I can’t find a way to set it so that it won’t crease!
My biggest makeup problem at the moment is mascara smudging. Even with formulas that are supposed to be “smudge proof” they still gravitate to my bottom lash line making me look like a raccoon
I hate how I never know how to apply mascara on my lower lashes! I always make such a huge mess!

The most annoying thing I’m dealing with is my undereye concealer creasing so much. Also forehead wrinkles and wrinkles period. I think I’m a little too young for all these darn wrinkles!

I live in South LA (louisiana not L.A. haha) and we rarely get snow. This year we got a wintery mix of sleet and snow for a day or two (equalling all of 1/2 inch on the ground).
Okay, if I won the lotto first I’d pay off my credit cards (that’s what I tell myself I’d do anyway). Then I would buy all the products in the Hourglass Ambient Lighting line. Then I’d buy a lifetime supply of chewy cat treats for Princess Barbara Streisand.

Most annoying makeup problem: just recently started attempting cat eye liner. Sometimes I’ll do a really good one on my first eye, but then the second one comes out in a totally different angle in relation to the first. Maybe I just have a crooked set of eyes.

– I can’t get up early enough to do proper makeup. Also I have a runny nose all the time so that destroys my makeup. And I have trouble keeping my forehead from being greasy. Plus can’t find foundation that would fit me, they are all too yellow. And I can’t find the right way to apply blush on my weird flat cheeks. Also horrible dark circles under my eyes which I can’t conceal.

My main makeup problem lately has been finding the right foundation. I was happy with Revlon’s Whipped Colorstay for a while, but I’m still a bit fairer than the lightest color, and I’m tired of seeing the line. I had a total fail with Laura Mercier’s Silk Creme foundation (made me break out and didn’t have good staying power with my skin), so now I’m hesitant to try another good one. And when it’s something like foundation that I wear almost every day, it’s frustrating! #firstworldproblems 🙂

I’m still working on trying to get a neat line when doing eyeliner. I always end up making it look ragged and patchy and then thickening the eyeliner to hide it, but I don’t want to hold my eyelid taut either to achieve it.

My most annoying makeup problem is definitely migrating eyeshadow and eyeliner. It seems like no matter what I do, a couple hours after I apply my eye makeup it moves to the outer corners of my eyes.

If I won the lottery I would pay back all of my student loans, pay for my sister’s college, my law school, my parents’ new house, and my own wedding. I’d probably give a few million to a good charity, like St. Jude’s. 270 million is a ton of money, so I’d probably pay for all of my cousins’ educations. If you can’t tell, school is important to me.
I’d probably save some of it to buy a house and a car when I needed it, and spent a few thousand dollars on a shopping spree 😉
