You know when you’re too tired to cook and just want good food to magically appear in front of you? Yeah…that’s exactly how it was last night.
Good morning, glory! I hope you had a good week. Mine wasn’t bad at all, and any week that ends with pizza and a movie ends on a high note (unless either of those is terrible).
That’s what we did. We grabbed slices for dinner and then went to see Lucy, that new sci-fi flick with ScarJo and Morgan Freeman. She plays someone exposed to a new drug who starts being able to use more of her brain power, but it comes with a big catch 22.
Not great, but not bad either. There were some cool parts, and she does kick some @ss.
Today, now, I’m just hanging out. I don’t really have any big plans. Tabs is sleeping in the other room, I just finished watering the plants (TONS of tomatoes ready to pick), and now I’m saying hello to you.

What are you up to today? Is it hot out there? It’s, uh, like Death Valley out here… It was about 95 degrees yesterday, and it’s supposed to be almost that hot again today.
Yeah…we don’t have a working air conditioner, and it usually doesn’t matter because it rarely gets that hot here, but this is one of those weeks. Late in the day my office has been like a sauna, and even Tabs leaves the room.
It’s kind of funny, actually. If you could see the shenanigans and hoops I hop through to take face pics without my makeup melting off, you’d laugh. Let’s just say that I get pretty creative with fan placement, cross ventilation, towels and ice…

Hi Karen! 🙂 Speaking of HOT – it is too hot in Vegas! I’ve lived here about 6 years now and I’m still not used to this weather. Anyways, I was going to tell you my top 5 makeup brands:
1. YSL – I really love the Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation. It is just perfect for any season (it works well in Vegas Summer heat!).
2. Makeup Geek – Love love love their eye shadows! Very good color payoff and to think the price is literally half of MAC eye shadows.
3. MAC – First love. ♥
4. Too Faced – their packaging is just amazing!
5. Hmmm.. I don’t have 5th one. I’m really excited to try out Hourglass products. I still haven’t had the chance to… I saw your reviews about the Ambient Lighting Blushes and they look phenom! 🙂

One of the pups gets tantrums , when she doesn’t want to do something she does that thing with her front feet/legs up and down, in then she makes a sound.So I think her catchphrase would be: MOM,DAD, I DO NOT WANT.
The other one is very chill, If she is not in the mood, she will give you that Whatever look ; so her catchphrase would be: WHATEVER,

What is your opinion on the Revlon twist up lip balm/colors? I own 8 of them now! The stain balms are my favorite, but the mattes and glossy ones are amazingly pigmented and moisturizing for how pigmented they are.

I’ve been trying Skin Food (Korean) brand since they opened stores in the Bay Area. It was the gateway drug to Asian beauty for me. I find their BB cream works for my winter skin tone and their sunblock doesn’t give me zits.
Im in love with Suqqu, which is a pain as it’s extremely hard to get for me and can get quite expensive.

I usually drink 1 cup of coffee a day. I’ve recently discovered a coffee shop in the Metro Detroit area called Biggby, and I am obsessed! Because I’m trying to be good, I limit myself to 1 a week, on Mondays.. because, let’s face it… No one looks forward to Monday, so I figured it would be a great way to start the week! I get a drink called a teddy bear: 3 espresso shot latte with white chocolate and carmel. I’ve been getting it over ice, with half the syrup and no whipped cream… truly amazing!

I’d like to invent an allergen free cake that tastes like real cake. I can’t use flour, eggs, or dairy and I’ve made cakes before but they just aren’t the same. Flavor wise I think a unique cake would be a cinnamon bun cake with the regular frosting and not the cream cheese frosting 🙂
Every day I take an average of 200ml of tea, 100 ml of green tea and 100ml NRG which is a combination of black tea with coffee to give energy! All thinking about speed up metabolism and lose some flab! I take them very cold! 🙂

Hi Karen! I really enjoy your site! I’ve always thought that if I could have a superpower it would be telekinesis. I must have watched the movie Matilda too many times 🙂 But just think of the possibilities – never having to get up from the couch to retrieve the remote!
I’m a committment phobe when it comes to makeup brands but choosing five (5) I think I can do.
1. TF – Because they make some of the most awesome and reliable face preps, primers and stablizers.
2. MichaelTodd – I’m really disappointed that they’ve stopped selling mu and only skin care. They had some great lipsticks, blushes and bronzers.
3. NYX – Lipgloss!! I need not say more.
4. MAC – I truly adore their lipsticks, blushes and concealers.
5. Kiss – That BB cream gives me life + it’s the only one I can find in my complexion that doesn’t oxidize or make me look like a Cheeto.
After all that I still missed a lot of brands and I didn’t mention shadows because I’ve found some great shadows from these brands and more.
My top four beauty brands for the past few years: Tarte (foundation, concealer, blush, daytime mascara, bronzer, powder, eyeliner), Benefit (nighttime mascara, highlighter, blush), Urban Decay (eyeliner, eyeshadow, shadow primer), Too Faced (mascara, blush, eyeshadow, lipstick)…hard to say a fifth, because I really only like one or two products from different lines. The bulk of my collection is the four above.
I’m not entirely fond of gold packaging, but that D&G packaging is just glorious. <3

It’s too hard! I like trying lots of brands, and some brands make my favourite products for one area, like lips, but I don’t like their eye products etc.
I have about two to three cups of ginger tea a day. Not too bad.

Introducing the “Willy Wonka Wonderland Amazing Edible Wallpaper” cake. This is the cake that would meld my love of the whimsical topsy-turvy cakes seen in Alice in Wonderland with the lickable food wallpaper from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
There are six layers of cake rising to a height of three feet. Each layer of cake boasts its own pastel color with baby blue atop peony pink atop periwinkle purple and so on. Of course there is glitter. The edible kind. The real fun is that each layer of cake tastes like something that is that color of that layer. For instance, the pink layer tastes like raspberry meringue, the purple tastes like succulent grapes, the blue like tart blueberries, the orange like creamsicles, the yellow like banana cream pie, the green like mint ice cream.
And, like the everlasting Gobstopper, this cake never runs out, so there’s always enough for everyone to enjoy a few slices!

UD, Tarte, Vasanti (Canadian), Emani (try Inde lipstick for the perfect nude/pink), and surprisingly MAC actually makes many of their products sans animal derivatives.
hm favorite beauty brand? am liking 100 percent pure’s blush/highlighter, soho chic for body oil, really impressed by joico shampoo also. convinced it’s made of unicorn tears.

Um, MAKEUP of course!I have a makeup/product obsession, but I would say that some of my favorite brands at the moment are 1) Urban Decay 2)Too Faced 3)L’Oreal 4)Maybelline and 5)MAC. Seriously, narrowing that down proved to be my challenge of the day! Lol
Either of the two special powers would be great, but if I have telekinesis, that would be awesome! Maybe I can use my telekinetic abilities to shop a lot quicker and bring my products to myself without me ever having to leave from in front of the mirror? Or is that just laziness? Well, heck, who cares. I work really hard I should be allowed to be lazy for a moment, while I explore my new- found talents!
I have no idea what my pet’s catchphrase or slogan would be. Maybe I should ponder on it while I opt to make a cake from a box instead of trying to invent one that I would like to try. I mean, Betty Crocker and Duncan Hines have done me right for years. Why compete and risk ruining a perfectly good relationship?

Due to being unemployed, I’ve been pondering what I can do to earn some cash; I considered prostitution but because I am chronically single……obviously I can’t even give it away for free.
Ooh, I’m thinking telekinesis because I laaaaaaazy…
I’m not supposed to have more than three servings of caffeine a week because I get heart palpitations and hard tissue in my breasts. I do adore an excellent cup of joe so on weekends, we often hit our fave Honolulu coffee shops, The Curb or Morning Glass Coffee.
I tend to drink at least 5 cups of coffee a day. I’m currently loving Etude House for Asian makeup.
Telekinesis. On the surface, clairvoyance sounds good, but I think it would be off-putting to know too much about the future, especially if you couldn’t control what you were clairvoyant about and only got snippets that you had to then make sense out of, like Phoebe did on Charmed. 🙂
Top of my list right now are:

– Charlotte Tilbury (so want to get my hands on some of that!)

I actually live in Japan, and I really LOVE Mishha and Canmake.
Canmake is an affordable makeup brand here in Japan, and Missha carries this really high coverage BB Cream, which is around $16 (high end), totally worth it.
I’ve been pretty excited about Lucy – I was hoping to see it some time this week. 🙂
I think it’s 100% acceptable to move all FOTDs to the pool in that kind of weather. I’m sure you feel like you’re in an 80s music video with the fans going. 🙂

-Kat Von D (love my new Studded Kiss lipstick in Poe, and rediscovering my True Romance Ladybird palette!)
-Maybelline (the Pure Dream BB is great, and I’ve been using the Bold Gold color tattoo as an eye base a lot- also, Baby Lips. New convert right here.)
-Tarte (I use a Tarte stain as a blush/blush base almost every day)
-L’Oreal (I don’t think I’ve gone a day without using some type of L’Oreal product this summer)
-NYX (new Angel Veil primer is nice, plus Butter Glosses = lovely!)

Where I live currently is having a dry spell so it’s always a relieve to pop into the shower at the end of the day.
I tend to keep my caffeine intake the same each day (helps my migraines), so just the one cup in the morning. It always takes me so long to drink it’s late by the time I finish anyway! 🙂

I turned 50 a few months ago and I realize aside from only having 3 pairs of shoes I need to update my look. It’s worked for me for so long but I am a makeup artist and used to work at Hudson’s now Macy’s , I’ve modeled, I still do makeup for people when they ask but I haven’t changed. It’s time.
Hmm, my five favourite makeup brands…I would say those are currently NARS, MAC, Revlon, Benefit and Tarte (although I cannot really say that I have tried a lot of Tarte products yet…only two – the third one should arrive sometime this week. It inot as easy to get your handy on over here as it probably is over on your side of the big pond).
Oh, and the whole I-want-food-to-magically-appear-NOW….yeah, totally feeling that at the moment. Even if I were not often too lazy to cook it is just so hot! in my kitchen at the moment that I can hardly be bothered to go in there, stay for any length of time and prepare a meal (let alone a warm/hot one). If I had to invent a cake, it would definitely be a Nutella cake. Just. Nutella. I would try it, but I’m pretty sure it’s a one-step recipe for diabetes 🙂
On a typical day, I have around 5-6 cups of coffee, but I’m trying to wean myself off of it because I’m basically addicted. And guuuurl, things get ugly when I don’t get my fix! Haha, you know what I mean?

Life would just get boring if I knew what was going to happen in the future all the time with clairvoyance.
