I’m just sittin’ here at my breakfast table listening to the thundering of little tabby feet running around upstairs. I have no idea what he’s doing up there, but it sounds like a competitive decathlon.
I’ve got a stack of magazines here, a hot cup of green tea and my Pink Power Smoothie, and I’m just gonna sit here for a while and read.
Ah… I love Saturdays. I love the quiet time for breakfast and to be able to sort of ease slowly into the day. The rest of the week, it’s go, go, go from the moment I open my eyes, but Saturday mornings are about high-intensity relaxing. 🙂
In other news, I’m going to tackle another section of the house today and tomorrow as part of Operation Get My Sh*t Together, and I’m also going to go to Target to see if I can find some of those photo shelves, so I can finally put my stuff up on the walls.

I am off tomorrow so my hubby suggested going somewhere after work. I suggested a shopping mall in Ohio that I love…but his ideas of fun are different…so we will see!

Something I almost never use in my makeup bag (well, in my lipstick spinner, anyway) is my drugstore lipsticks. The ones I have left are the decently-performing ones that have survived my periodic purges, but I still tend to reach for the mid-range or high-end formulas because I like them so much better. Plus, I’m a sucker for fancy packaging, and the Revlon/Nyx/Maybelline just ain’t cutting it in that department (:

Hi Karen! Hope you are having a great Caturday! I hardly ever use my eyelash curlers. I spent a small fortune on them (Shu Uemura) and they just don’t fit my eye shape right. I never have to clean them though 😉
OMG Isabella!! I too have a Shu Uemura eyelash curler that I have not used (bought it last year). I have no excuses as this one does fit my eye shape. 😛
It’s just one of those tools that are easy to forget I guess 😛 Do you see a great differens in you lashes when you remember to use it?
Isabella, I have not even opened the box/packaging! I did try it out before I purchased it. There were two types I was going to buy the one that only curled the outer end lashes but since I could not figure out how to do it myself the sales associate told me not buy it. She made me try the normal one which I was able to use. To answer your question I did notice a bit of a difference.

hi Karen, it’s really warming up here in Ohio. enjoying the day with my 10 month old daughter 🙂 used my naked palette yesterday after not using for awhile and it was great, loved my look.
I find myself totally obsessed with foundation releases but nothing is ever quite right. Armani luminous silk is the closest but it’s too spendy to layer for medium-full coverage everyday. I’m hoping the new coverfx will be the one!
I am completely in love with Kat Von D cosmetics. Her eyeshadows are so awesome. They blend so well and I love the shade and contour eye palette. It’s literally my baby.
MY FAVORITE FACE WASH IS ALVEENO.AND I LOVE THE LOTION IS ALVEENO ALSO.I USE THE BODY WASH TO.
The fastest I can comfortably do my makeup and still feel I look reasonable is 15 minutes. Any less than that and I feel I’m just slapping it on and it’s not going to look very good. Of course, ideally I’d have 30 minutes every day to leisurely do my makeup, but that is rare.
I always wear lip balm to keep my lips hydrated.
I love high end makeup. Now that the kids are all grown & out of the house, I have more money to spend on nice things for me.

My favorite makeup brands right now are Nars, Mufe & Mac. I can do my makeup in about 10 minutes. I’ve always been drawn to a matte lip.
I don’t use an eyelash curler at all. I’ve never been able to master the art of curling lashes without pinching my eyelid, so I’ve just accepted my semi straight lashes and not going to worry about it.
I was totally obsessed with lip gloss, but now that I’m growing my hair out I prefer lipstick. (What does growing my hair out have to do with it? Long hair gets stuck in lip gloss and it’s so gross) Plus I like that lipstick lasts longer, I smack my lips and chew on them so lip gloss is gone in less than an hour on me.
I just recently cleaned my eyelash curler because it was sticking to my eyelashes.
I am obsessed with MAC lately, I’ve discovered several MAC products that I absolutely love.

I am a tinted balm girl all the way! Maybelline Baby Lips, Burt’s Bees and Clinique Superbalm are my favorites.
Making ice cubes makes me weirdly emotional. I generally use no ice in most of my beverages, but one of my exes did. We didn’t work out the way I expected, so now reaching into the freezer to make them makes me a tad melancholy.

For daytime, I always use lip liner and a tinted lip balm such as Burts Bees.

i use lip balm the most, and generally when I want colour on my lips I prefer lip gloss over lip stain or lip stick .
i almost never use my nyx milk pencil anymore the lorac and kvd shades are so pigmented i rarely reach for it

How does lip gloss stay on your lips for so long? With me it’s gone in minutes. I use a lip pencil to fill the entire lip area and then a good heavily tinted lipstick such as Too Faced Melted or some of the long lasting lipsticks out there. Really want to try the new Too Faced Melted Metallics.
It’s hard to pick just five! But I suppose my five favorite makeup brands (as of now) are NARS, make up for ever, rms beauty, and MAC.
But I’m on a roll now! My five favorite skincare brands are Aesop, Ren, Mizon, Josie maran, and Fresh.

Hi Karen I’m rootin’ for you to finish your office project. You’ve inspired me to do a little sprucing myself in my office. Although I can’t clean my office in 10 min., what I can do is makeup in 10 min. on days that I am running late for work. That means quickly putting on primer, tinted moisturizer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, filling in my brows, a little blush, and mascara.

If I’m just going to the shops or for a walk around the bay…I can get ready in about 20 minutes. Since I turned 45 more time goes into skin care and prep than before. But then I don’t have to spend a lot of time with foundations and things because I don’t use them that much
I think I can do my makeup in 10 min but I love using time doing my makeup so when I do my makeup in the morning before work I think I use 20 ish min ,when I don’t dillydally

And I’ve gotten my makeup routine down to 15-20 minutes if I do it right! The most time consuming part of it is deciding WHAT I want to use. So I try to lay out what I’m using the night before. :))
Finals were last week, I’m exhausted! I have one friggan week before summer classes start (so bogus!) I’m only taking two classes this summer, I need at least fifteen minutes for makeup, if there’s no time I’ll just do brows and a chunky shadow pencil, I’m so sad that MUFE discontinued their shadow pencils.

I think I haven’t used my eyeshadow palettes for a long time as I’ve been really busy! And cream shadow sticks are kinda taking over for ease of use now..
I use tinted balms most frequently, because I have to wear a surgical mask at work and glosses are too sticky!
I almost never use lipliner or eyeliner. That helps me to cut my makeup time down to 10 mins though!
I’ve never cleaned my eyelash curler. It’s only a month old but that’s still gross I know.
My latest makeup discovery that I am loving are cushion compacts! These travel-friendly compacts, which are saturated with foundation, produce a radiant, luminous look. These are, for sure, the next big innovation from Korea.
P.S. On a side note, I can’t seem to wear lip gloss without getting my hair sticky!

Yesterday I was in the Sephora we have here in a small town right outside of Ohio. It’s not very big so they don’t have a huge selection and most of the more popular items are usually out of stock. So I walked around for a good bit looking at some Urban Decay and Too Faced items. (I was in heels because I just got out of a job interview) so needless to say,my feet were killing me! I was getting ready to walk out when I heard a lady at the register talking about her birthday gift. I went up to the sales associate and asked her about the birthday gift. It just so happened that I qualified for the birthday gift since my birthday is in the month of May! May 25th,to be exact. 🙂 I ended up getting 2 NARS lip pencils! I was so stoked lol. Not only did I get a gift for my birthday, I also got the job! I hope everyone’s day was as great as mine was!

I started watching the show parks and rec last night maaaybe because I have a huge crush on Chris Pratt (&a bigger one on his wife Anna) so far it’s super funny.
I’ve never cleaned my eyelash curler before.
I really want to love a new perfume, I am stuck on Valentino Rock n Rose…almost out but its hard to walk in and smell different perfumes. I feel like I am stuck in a perfume time loop.
Something in my make up bag I never use is the ELF lip primer on one side and plumper on the other. I bought it to try and keep my lipstick on longer, but it goes on my lips white and that doesn’t work well with most lip colors.
The lip formula I wear the most is a stain. I’m realm loving the new Rimmel Provocalips 16hr. They wear super long and dont dry out my lips. They are quite similar to the Aqua lips by MUFE, but way cheaper!
I prefer lipstick or a stain over any other kind of lip formula.
I can do my makeup in 5 minutes.
I have put myself on a beauty diet; focusing on using what I have and making sure I enjoy every piece without stressing myself out over trying to use things up that don’t work for me or that are old. I quite enjoy shopping my stash 🙂

I am putting on lip balm every couple hours daily.
I actually clean my eyelash curler everyday right after I use it – just wipe the mascara off of it. I clean all of my brushes and my Clarisonic once a week (usually on Sundays). Hope you have a great weekend!! 🙂
I’m always using balms or lib gloss.. Sometime I feel like I have the driest lips around..:(
I always use lipstick. I never use lipbalm or lipstains and rarely use lipgloss – and that’s just over lipstick.
And as for how fast I can do my makeup, I guess technically one minute, if I just bother to put on mascara or lipstick. But I never do that, I always like to put on a bit of concealer, tinted moisturizer/bb cream, lipstick, eyeshadow, and mascara. So it ends up taking around 10 minutes… if I go the whole yard, it takes me close to an hour. Ach!
The lip formula I use the most is balms. I like balms like Color Whisper and Baby Lips that you can just throw on without looking in a mirror.

I NEVER clean my eye lasher curler anymore because I threw it away! That is because I now use and LOVE BeneFit Roller Lash. Never liked curling my eyelashes anyway and this is a wonderful mascara. On another note, my daughter and I were saying yesterday that you are so darn cute and that maxi dress is adorable on you.

Clinique’s Happy and Nag Champa incense. Both have strong scent memories for me – my grandmother wore Happy and Nag Champa reminds me of spending time with my aunt and uncle as a kid – some of the happiest days of my life.

My favorite brands right now our Stila, and Loreal. I go from Drug store products to Sephora products. I’m constantly looking for lipgloss and mascara so I have alot. I just bought another Buxom gloss.
I use a shu uemura eyelash curler every morning and replace the curling pad every 6 months or so 😉 but I never clean it, other than wiping the curler every few days or so.

OHMIGOSH, you know what makes me weirdly emotional? I’m always frustrated in traffic because I’m always in the passing lane behind someone who wants to go 55, but then every once in a while- you know when there’s been a bad storm and you get to a stop light that’s broken (not even blinking yellow lights) and people work together and take turns and no one is grumpy or crabby or cuts the line? Always makes me tear up! And then I’m all “yay, Humanity, we can have nice things!!” Hmmm… Maybe I just like to see people being nice to people for no particular reason.

I think everything in my makeup bag is unused, except for the concealer and foundation compact that i usually forgot to pack in the bag. I have lipstick and liners, eyeshadow and tide pen…but i just don’t use them or don’t realize i need to retouch my makeup.

I do my everyday makeup in about 10 minutes. I have it down to a science. (Okay, so I’m in a horrible, boring rut.) And the item I most seldom use is my eyelash curler. And mascara, for that matter. I have almost no eyelashes; no amount of curling or mascara-ing will make those stubby, thin things look full and lush.
The fastest is 5 min., but that’s only curling my eyelashes, putting on mascara, spot concealing, and blush.

I have a few primers…and none have become a regular in my routine!
On the lips it’s either natural balms or (total opposite) long-wear matte lip colour.
I can do a 10 minute application – If I don’t get lost in perfecting the lashes 😛
My most commonly used lip item are my tinted lip balms, especially my tinted Baby Lips 🙂 When I think about it, I love my opaque lip creams (wearing SweetPea & Faye “Willa” right now and I love it), but the tinted balms are so effortless that they end up being what I reach for automatically.

Something in my makeup bag I almost never use is eye cream. I don't think I will be purchasing another one for a very long time, because it seems like an extra step when my normal moisturizer can be used instead. Another product is shimmery bronzer (mine is from The Body Shop). I whip mine out a few times during the summer, but not enough to really justify having one.
I never , ever use my eyelash curler. I guess I just have naturally curled lashes or something because it does not do a dang thing for me.

Well, I can do my most minimal makeup (TM or BB cream with SPF, a sprinkling of powder, tinted brow gel, tinted lip balm with SPF, makeup setting spray) in 5-10 minutes, but I usually wear more makeup than that. I really like to have at least a half hour to do my makeup, 45 minutes is better.
My favorite brands right now? IT Cosmetics, Hourglass, and Anastasia Beverly Hills all make workhorse products that I use daily and would have difficulty doing without. My specialty need is for base products with all-mineral SPF that have good coverage and give a glow-y finish. No one does that like IT Cosmetics. Too Faced’s BB is good, but not enough coverage, and a bit too yellow for me. The Tarte products are too matte for me. Not many other brands are even trying! Hourglass powders and blushes are magical on my older skin. ABH’s Lash Genius and brow gel are part of my daily routine. Make Up For Ever is my tops for eye shadow, Fresh Sugar and Bite Beauty for lip products with SPF (YSL, Clinique, and Perricone make some that I need to try). I also love Urban Decay, Too Faced, and Clinique for eye, cheek and lip colors, and I love MUFE cheek and lip products as well as their eye shadows. Tarte used to be a favorite, but I’ve been using it less since my skin has gotten drier.
I only use lipstick or lipbalm, because as much as I like the look of lipgloss those brushlike applicators they usually come with … well, let’s just say I’m awfully ticklish! 😉

I use tinted balms everyday and stains for special occasion. Almost never use lip gloss because my long dense hair, that I prefer to leave open would definitely get stuck on the gloss (gross!).
I don’t necessarily have a lip formula that I gravitate towards. I do, however, prefer lip products that can be sheered out. An opaque lip color is something I find difficult to wear because I lean towards using a more natural looking mineral foundation on a daily basis. My skin has some pigment inconsistencies due to old acne scaring and so an opaque lip color leaves the look feeling incomplete to me.
I’m on a perfume kick lately, I guess now is the time lol

Something that I bought but don’t really use at the moment is a cult favourite concealer – Nars’ Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard! A very similar drugstore dupe is Maybelline’s Fit Me concealer in 15 – Fair, but I actually prefer the Maybelline! It’s more watery/less creamy if that makes sense, which helps keep it from creasing during the day and blend into the skin more seamlessly (it catches on dry patches less). It’s a winner 🙂

My current favorite brands are Dior, Chanel and Clinique. I go own a LOT of lip colors from varios brands but I usually return to these three. Dior, I love their eyeshadows. Chanel is always so glamorous and I have it hard to find similar products from other brands, specially when it comes to glosses; they have managed to keep secret how they achieve gorgeous but seamless glitter. I love clinique’s chubby sticks and cheek pops; they are very fresh.
I guess my fav right now would have to be Becca – and not because I have any! I just love her brushes (or brush) there’s one I’ve been wanting forever – and an eyeshadow pallet that I want. I did just get some drugstore things that you like, I just got the Loreal – Lumi foundation, and I must say — I like it. It goes on really well with a really pretty coverage! I’ll always be a MAC girl – got an order in now will be here Tuesday!!!! The only thing that I’ve ever had by chanel is they’re lip sticks and I love them. It’s just too expensive for me…. but I have a new MAC coming in a pretty pinkish coral. Love new make-up!!!! Shoot – wish I were you!!!! LOL

Cleaned even between right and left eye. I find the only way to keep my short straight lashes curled is to use my shu umera curler after applying mascara. I know it is not recommended but if you are really careful that it is perfectly clean coupled with the right formula of mascara it can be done without damage to you lash line. I have had pretty good success with maybelline Falsies not sticking to the metal. A curled lash that lasts!!

Something in my makeup bag that I almost never use is blush. I hate to admit, but I am juts incapable of not looking like a clown when I put it on. Also, I am naturally flush in the cheeks, so I think I don’t need it very much, and it just really exacerbates the redness of my cheeks that is already there.

My five favorite makeup brands right now are: NARS, Hourglass, Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs, and Urban Decay. Although I think they’re also my all-time favorite brands. These brands seem to hit all the right notes for me when it comes to lipsticks and eyeshadows. The exceptions to that mold are Hourglass, who I love for their modernist palettes, primer, and overall sleek brand, and Urban Decay, who I mainly love for eyeshadows and eyeliners.

I wear matte lipsticks the most – red ones! I need them to stay and stay and stay for hours. I do have to say that Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone pencil is the closest I’ve come so far to my HG product, Paula Dorf Perfect Illusion!

I’m really proud of how well I can do my makeup in about ten minutes under normal conditions, but it’s even better because I’m in college, so I usually get up before my roommate and have to get ready mostly in the dark because I can’t turn the light on (but the light from the window helps a bit) xD Sometimes my makeup looks alright, sometimes it looks amazing, and sometimes you mistake your Perversion eyeliner for your brow pencil.
I wear lip balm the most.
I’m currently in love with Lipstick Queen lipsticks. When I’m in meetings I love wearing sinner nudes since it just seems to last all day. It takes me about 10 minutes to complete it all – currently it’s eyeliner, concealer, cheek pop blush, and diorshow and nude lipstick and I’m out the door.
I don’t remember the last time I cleaned my eyelash curler…it has been a while!
I’ve been loving MAC and benefit lately. One product I rarely use in my makeup bag is my miniature Chi hair serum, but I KNOW it will come in handy one frizzy, humid, Houston day.

Sometimes, when there’s a hint of spring in the air and there’s a slight breeze, I’m reminded of when my Dad used to carry me, back when I was little. I remember feeling so high up in the world, on his shoulders. Now he’s older, his shoulders are slightly curved, gray stubble on his cheek. Whenever I remember being so little and feeling so care free, I tear up.
Yesterday was the last time I cleaned my eye lash curler!
