Toothbrushes!
That’s what this new tube of Diorshow Mascara reminds me of, which I know is a weird connection to make, but back in 2002 when Diorshow first launched, it had an oversized brush head inspired by the toothbrushes that makeup artists would use backstage to create long, dramatic lash looks on runway models. Dior hacked the idea and turned it into Diorshow’s XXL brush (your fun fact of the day).
Well, when Dior recently revamped and relaunched Diorshow Mascara, you can rest assured that they did not forget to give it an oversized brush, because without it, it wouldn’t have been Diorshow! 🙂
Diorshow is designed to lengthen lashes by building up the formula, layer upon layer, without any clumping. The effect is supposed to be similar to wearing lash extensions, so if you want your lashes to look long, smooth and separated (and you aren’t necessarily concerned about volume), you’ll probably like it a lot.
It’s available now for $27.50 in four shades — Pro Black #090, Pro Brown #698, Pro Purple #168 and Pro Blue #258 — in Dior’s permanent line.
Dior tweaked the formula this time, incorporating a lash conditioning ingredient called sericin, a protein that surrounds fibroin, which becomes silk. According to Dior, it’s supposed to protect and smooth each lash to allow for a nice and even application.
They also changed the inner packaging to keep the mascara from drying out.
I definitely prefer this new version of Diorshow to the original version. I think it’s better at lifting lashes, doesn’t smudge as easily, and it’s easier to remove.
The formula is my favorite thing about it. I can literally pile it on, and I don’t see any clumping whatsoever. No matter how much I use, my lashes feel soft and silky, not heavy or crunchy.
When I use multiple coats of Diorshow, my lashes look long, glossy, smooth and lush, and I’ll wear it when I want a separated, lifted, “lashy” look instead of something more voluminous, like what I get from Chanel le Volume de Chanel, my usual go-to mascara.
One thing about the XXL brush — you may need to practice with it, because the first time I used it, I ended up with globs of excess product in my inner corners, under my lower lash line and basically everywhere I didn’t want mascara, LOL!
If this happens to you, resist the urge to clean it up immediately, because you could end up smudging whatever other makeup you happen to be wearing. Instead, just let the mascara dry, then grab a spoolie and gently run it across the smudge. It’ll flick right off without disturbing your foundation, eyeshadow, etc.

Ooh, thanks for the tip on extra mascara gobs – I never would’ve thought to let them dry.
I’m not sure why, but I’ve never gotten into the OG Diorshow mascara- I much prefer Overcurl and Extase Mascaras. I may have to give Diorshow another go though.
I used this today for the first time! I got a deluxe sample with my Sephora points! No flaking or anything (everything has been irritating my eyes lately, even my beloved Chanel Le Volume – flake city). I do better with the mini tubes of almost anything, so weird.
The rose smell is pretty, but a little strong.
A mascara that doesn’t clump?! Does it really exist?! I can actually see a difference in your lashes. My fave is Benefit They’re Real. I can never get enough of it. Perhaps I’ll see if I can get a sample to try this out. 🙂

I can’t wait to pick this new formula up. This is my favorite mascara. I had travel sizes of the old ones and they worked great – no globs or anything but this was a different story with the full-sized version. I have this problem with Dior’s other mascara – I love how black the Blackout mascara is, but it is super super messy.
Dang, that is one big brush right there! I personally find that the tiny brushes work better for me. Gets less messy, too.
I remember trying Diorshow years ago and that I liked it, but that the tube would dry out so fast. Like less than a month. I don’t know if I’ll grab a new one to try again anytime soon (I just re-discovered L’Oreal Voluminous and we’re in love again), but it’s good to know Dior addressed the problem!
Just this morning I wrecked my eye makeup by smearing excess mascara. Thankfully, it was rescuable!
See now this I’d definitely be interested in trying. I’m a mascara junkie, actually rocking the Chanel one today. Love Dior mascara and its been a minute since I’ve had one, now since it’s a new formulation it’s a must try.
I actually didn’t like the first version, maybe I’ll try this one out
