My seven-year-old is pretty adamant that unicorns exist…somewhere. They’re rare, and we don’t have them where we live, but they’re real because, “You don’t know. You just don’t know that they aren’t out there somewhere… People don’t know for sure!”
* Insert insistent head shaking and hand gestures to go along with this exclamation. *
Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending 7-in-1 Mascara ($14) is as rare as a unicorn.
To begin with, the packaging is to. die. for. It’s got a Disney Fantasia vibe that I love, and as a makeup lover I’m all about the adjustable “magic wand” that allows you to select either volume or length (or both).
But what makes this mascara so exciting for me is that it contains natural plant fibers to take lashes to great heights. In my experience, it’s not easy to find a natural lash product that can make as big of an impact as this one — so when I find a plant- and mineral-based mascara this good, I’m convinced that there must be unicorns out there, somewhere.
Armed with an adjustable brush, Pacifica Dream Big mascara is “flexible.” I’ve been favoring applying the first layer (or two…) with the wand extended for length, and then twisting the cap to shorten the wand and adding a few coats for volume. There are no rules to makeup, though, so if you favor one or the other, there’s no need to change the wand. But I have to tell you that it’s fun!
What makes Dream Big a “7-in-1” product are the extra benefits. It works as a lash serum, provides instant length, lifts lashes, volumizes, conditions and applies rich color, all with an adjustable brush that extends and retracts.
Over time, Dream Big is supposed to help improve natural lash length and volume, and because the formulation is natural, Pacifica’s unicorn-inspired lash product also conditions your lashes.
While I can’t speak to the long-term benefits, I can speak to the short-term ones I’ve seen during day-to-day use. My lashes do feel conditioned when I remove my makeup at the end of a long day, which is unusual for someone used to applying traditional, non-mineral- and plant-based mascara. Moreover, I was surprised at how much this plumps and lengthens, given that it’s beneficial, too! It must be infused with unicorn giggles.
Have you tried Pacifica Dream Big Lash Extending 7-in-1 Mascara or a similar product with an adjustable brush? And how do you feel about natural mascara formulas? And unicorns in general?

P.S. What’s the curl hold like? I practically need cement to keep mine intact these days (well, on the days when I manage to put on any makeup at all, LOL!).
She’s pretty convinced that both unicorns and fairies are out there somewhere. Like a one woman episode of the X Files.
Honestly, I was really impressed all around. I have NEVER had success with a natural mascara like I did with this one. It held a curl, and although my lashes weren’t quite as thick as I’m used to they looked pretty near perfect even after the end of a long day!

I have some of their lotions. Tuscan Blood Orange is my favorite. I have several of their fragrances, but I haven’t tried the shower gels yet. Everything always smells so good, though.
Do you like Diptyque’s fragrance in Philosykos, Karen? Pacifica’s fig fragrance is just about a spot on dupe and considerably less expensive! I’ve always adored this brand.

Our local (to Washington State) drugstore, Bartell’s, recently started carrying Pacifica & are supposedly increasing the number of products in the near future. I’m excited that they’re more readily accessible in my town. I love their rollerball scents but I haven’t tried the cosmetics yet. I did throw out two old mascaras this morning so maybe I should reward myself.
Their fig rollerball scent is the closest dupe I’ve ever found for Diptyque Figuier which is one of my all time favorites. Pacifica is such a fabulous brand.

My jaw dropped when I saw the packaging on your first picture. Unicorns, stars and rainbows on a mascara tube, and all that without any pink or glitter in sight? Me wants!
And then I got to the part where the magic brush gets shorter or longer. How cool is that?? Added to my wish list right away! I’m going to place an Ulta order next week (waiting for a specific deal of the day in the 21 days of beauty event) and this unicorn is flying home! Ulta has it right?

I’ve been wanting to try the Pacifica mascaras! Most mascaras make my eyes itchy, so I have a hard time finding good ones
OMG I need that unicorn! Or at least that packaging in poster form!
I hope it will hold a curl on my straight lashes! Regular (non-waterproof) mascaras straighten out my lashes after I curl them. 🙁 It would be nice to have a natural, nourishing mascara cause I put my lashes through a lot with all the curling and heavy duty waterproof formulas.
My only adjustment with the “natural” mascara was the fact that my lashes weren’t quite as synthetically thick as I’m used to, but I was really impressed with how this one held in general. The curl I put in lasted throughout the day.

While this mascara isn’t for me, I agree with your daughter and everyone else who’s commented before me: unicorns ARE real. It’s too bad we can’t see them. But they can see us. And I’m sure they’d love this mascara, too ?

If I could find this mascara, I’d love to try it, but I worry about how smudge-proof it would be. I find that if my mascara isn’t waterproof I end up with gray under eye circles.
I don’t have watery eyes (dry, dry, dry) so unfortunately I can’t speak to that too much. I was impressed that this one didn’t budge, but if you’re watery I can’t make any promises.

Have you experienced any problems with the twisting mechanism on the wand? I got a Calvin Klein mascara last year from Ulta as a birthday present, and it did a similar thing where you could twist the wand if you wanted volume or length. But after a few uses the wand stopped twisting completely! This one sounds like it may be a better option.
Pacifica’s feels really “sturdy” (?), I suppose that’s the best word for it. I’ve tried several of these adjusting mascaras and I don’t detect any issues with it.
