The steamy summer months can be hard on makeup lovers. Those of us who live in warmer climates may be more adept at making our makeup widthstand the sweltering heat and summer sun, but given that I live in a very cold climate (Wisconsin), I’m not always ready for the onslaught of “glow” (*cough* sweat *cough*) that often compromises the longevity of my makeup.
More importantly, sun protection is a must, and to be honest, as far as this pale-skinned girl is concerned, sun block is always a must (rain or shine, blizzard or heat wave). And it’s important every day, too, and not just on days at the beach or afternoons at the park.

Fair has become my faithful companion. It’s easy to blend and chemical free. I dust the sunscreen on as a setting powder, and throw the tube in my purse when I leave the house. Rather than reaching for a blotting powder or paper mid-day, I just reapply Sunforgettable Brush on Sunscreen to ensure that I’ve re-upped my sun protection.

A word to the wise, though — I was surprised to see that this gloss looked almost like an agate when I removed it from the packaging. I’ve seen this product before. At first I thought it wasn’t worth taking a look, but now that you mention it this could be more convenient than a blotting paper. At least it gives you some SPF protection.
I just wish there was something like an SPF pill. I’d pay big bucks for that! But for now I just try to stay out of the sun when I can and protect myself by layering make-up products with SPF over my morning SPF.
There is! Lycopene! A diet high in Lycopene gives a natural spf of about 10. It one of the reasons Mediterranean people can get so bronze with less burn and skin cancer! Still smart to wear it though.
Would daily supplements high in lycopene up the level of SPF? I already consume quite a lot of it, though.

I actually just ordered the SPF 50 one in fair this last weekend and it should be arriving soon! I am glad it is fair enough for you because it looks like we have similar skin tones. I tried the Peter Thomas Roth one at Sephora a few weeks ago and it made me look like a pumpkin (so orange!) I am taking accutane right now so I need all the extra sun protection I can get. Thanks Karen! 🙂 I did it myself at age 15 and had clear skin for a decade! Unfortunately in my 30’s my cystic acne has decided to come back with a vengeance. It makes the fun of wearing makeup not fun anymore and I finally had it with everything so my derm put me back on another course. I don’t have any side effects yet (it’s only been 12 days) but I know that they tend to come. I remember really dry lips and eyes. I have also heard joint pain? Ugh. Did you have any rough side effects with yours? Did you have a favorite lip balm/moisturizer when you were on it in college?

I use the SPF50 version this product because. It seems pricey but really, what other product can you reapply continuously and not mess up your makeup? There are maybe one or two other versions of this by competitors but this is the best one with shades that suit my tan skin. This is a game changer and a life saver.
Brush on sunscreen is great, easy to use and you have brush + product in one piece, I love it for travels.
I have to check if I can get them here in Germany. SPF is a very important topic, but reapplying can be annoying. I use the Bioderma Hydrabio SPF 30 spray to top up at the moment. Works great, but can add a little shine.
I’ve been thinking about trying this, especially with summer coming. Sometimes it seems like my skin care is the only thing I can control about my body, and I want tons of sun protection. But it’s pretty expensive, you know? Especially the lip glosses. So I’m still on the fence… I wish there WERE a really good, not super expensive lip sunscreen/primer. I am pretty sure I got sunburnt on my lips a couple weeks ago, and wearing sunscreen since has kept my ultra-dry lips protected from completely drying out. I just wish there were more options! More Sublime Protection Factor in different price ranges, please!
