I don’t straighten my hair very often, but what Remington said about their new Shine Therapy Straightener really got my attention. According to Remington, the straightener’s ceramic plates are porous and infused with a blend of conditioners and avocado oil. With the heat cranked up, the plates evenly emit their conditioning blend during styling to protect and moisturize hair. Neat, yah?
The idea is simple. A flat iron straightener needs heat to work correctly, and heat can damage hair, so the conditioners infused into the plates help to protect the hair while it’s vulnerable to damage. When the iron heats up (it only takes a minute), heat triggers the conditioners to rise to the surface of the ceramic plates. Supposedly, the plates contain enough conditioners to last through four years of use.
Shine Therapy transformed my wavy hair into stick straight locks in less then five minutes. This thing heats up fast! I only had to run the iron down a section of hair once or twice to do the job, not five or six times like my prehistoric 1999 flat iron. I used the Remington Wednesday, and it left my hair shiny and soft. That night I got several compliments from El Hub and my dance buds on my new ‘do.
I would give Remington an A+ for effort if it weren’t for one thing: this bad boy is really hard to switch on and off. The on/off button is depressed into the side of the handle and so small that the only way I can push it is with the tip of a fingernail. It’s annoying and inconvenient, and I can already see myself struggling with it when I’m late for work. Sure, you could just unplug it between use, but there’s a button there for a reason, and it’s not like I have big, clumsy sausage fingers or anything. My paws are tiny, nimble and strong from years of piano lessons, but dangit if that tiny button didn’t drive me crazy!

The iron’s heat setting runs from one to 30. I didn’t go beyond 10 because 10 was hot enough. Even at 10, my hair was too hot to handle for a few seconds after straightening.
What I liked most about Remington’s Shine Therapy was that it gets the job done fast. As for the built-in conditioners, my hair looked a little shinier, and it seemed softer than when I use my old flat iron, so props to Remington for a job well done.

Oooooo, I need to get one of these! I received the Remington Soft Protection Flocked hot rollers for Christmas and I totally love them. My notoriously baby fine hair is wonderfully curly and shiny.

I will have to look into those hot rollers. I’m growing my hair out (the goal is sexy Victoria’s Secret Hair!) so I need some rollers to get bouncy curls. 🙂

the hair straightener i’m using right now is by remington. cheap and very good stuff. was going to get ghd (not sure if you’ve heard of it but i’m pretty sure you have). but they all say it’s bad, it dries your hair. i’m glad i went with remington. only costed me $27 whereas ghd $300.

Target had it on sale but I don’t need a straightening iron, my hair is already flat straight! GHD is very pricey but they claim that you can curl and straight your hair using the same iron.
I guess you can use the tip of a pencil to turn that flat iron on and off. That’s what I do for tiny buttons.
Sounds intriguing! It’s nice to know that if I ever decide to try to straighten my hair, there’s a good option out there at a reasonable price!

Yah, I suppose I could keep a pencil in the bathroom, but I really don’t see myself going to that much effort, LOL. What can I say? I’m a lazy mofo. I’ve seen vids on youtube and on home shopping network of people using flat irons to curl their hair and it’s fascinating! Who would’ve thunk it.

I did an eye look today with Girl Friendly, Nice Vice and Shiseido’s Lemon Sugar. I like! It was pretty intense, so I paired it with Lollipop Loving (which really neutralizes my lips) topped with a coral shade of lipgloss that I got in a Tarte sampler pack.
Other than that, it was just taking care of stuff that needed taking care of. I got to sleep in too, though, so it’s all ok! 🙂
Sausage fingers bwahahaa that had be Rollin. I’d say keep a bobby pin handy and use that to poke the button. That straightener sounds cool but I’m super skeptical of conditioners lastin 4 friggen years!
I am so lazy. Fo real. I don’t even blow dry my hair most of the time. I just put some curl cream and gel followed by some hairspray when it dries. I have straightened it before but mine always seems to get frizzy and it seems like too much work. I may have to try something new though because I’ve started letting my hair grow out again… and I haven’t quite figured out where I’m going with it yet.

Your hair is super cute short! When did you decide to grow it out, and what look are you going for?
I haven’t had a haircut since September. I grew mine long for my wedding then chopped it all off. Now I want it long again… I have about three more inches to go.
Well I typically go through cycles….grow it out and chop it off then grow it out etc. It’s just a lot of work when it gets really long because my hair is fine in texture…but thick in quantity. Plus it’s naturally curly to the point of ringlets when it gets longer…and if i get a bad cut it definitely does the whole triangulr thing and is flat on top and super bushy at the ends… I’ve had it short for almost 3 years now…after growing it out for 3 years and chopping it off and donating it. I’ve done this a few times… my hair actually grows pretty fast. Normal maintenance I get an inch to an inch and a half chopped every 6 weeks. I really don’t know where I’m going with it yet. I’m thinking at least shoulder length for now…and seeing how manageable it is for every day. (I am notorious for constant updo’s when I have really long hair.)
I just bought one of these and today was the first time i used it. Its a really good product!! It left my hair strait, shiny and silky, healthy look. And the style lastes all day! I just wanted to know if this iron curls? But still it really great i recomend it alot. About the button, You can use your nail tip to turn it on or off its no problem. ALsow the “look” of the iron is a very proffessional look. Like an actual “hair salon iron”. On the price well it is kind off expensive. It cost me $60. It depends where you buy it. In target and walmart have better prices
I bought one of these yesterday.. is the outside of the straightener supposed to get hot as well??
I want to buy a flat iron that can curl as well as straight but seeing the comments n reviews of people i have 3 question of my own if u wld please answer them thn i wld be in a much better state to decide about it.
1. does it leave a weird smell due to the oil thing?
2. does it curl as well as straight or just straight?
3. do the outside gets hot?
and can any one recommend me which hair styler to get that can curl as well as straight my hairs, money is no issue i have been saving for ages to get my 1st hair styler.
I’ve tried different brands and the best one for me is the Karmin g3 Salon Pro, it has tourmaline ceramic plates which cause less damage to the hair, it heats up to 460F for all the hair textures, it’s dual voltage so you can travel with it without a converter, and the best of all is that treats really nice the hair, leaves it soft, shiny, frizz less and super straight , I luv it !! 😀
Haven’t tried this one yet! I’ve been using the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Styling Iron, I can straighten, curl and create waves with it because the pure ceramic tourmaline plates have rounded edges and heat up to 460F. My hair looks gorgeous!
