Connor’s first birthday lasagna was a smash super hit! Of course, I’m exhausted from all the festivities (hosting is fun but tiring, am I right?!), but it was all worth it.
She’s excited about cake

Happy Birthday Connor Claire – Boy does time fly by fast – Love Pancit and Lumpia and i am not Filipino – Looks delicious!
The last year went by so fast at times, but slow at others. Every day she gets closer to being a little girl and father from her baby-hood. It’s bittersweet!
Do you ever eat lumpia with vinegar and garlic sauce? It’s SO good!
A special vinegar sauce but I don’t know whats in it – i guess garlic – Its so good – my friends Aunt was making them and she was frying them for hours while we were there – she didn’t want them to sit too long – i must have eaten 20 – ha haa
She is SO beautiful! Happy birthday to Connor Claire! I was just at a 94th birthday party with lechon, pancit, turon and lumpia! I can’t believe it’s been a year already.
Karen,
Shut UP! I can’t believe Connor Claire is a year old already!! OMG where did the time go?
She is just the cutest!!
Lasagna is my favorite birthday meal too!
xoxo

Karen,
I wish I could give you a recipe, but I cook like my Italian grandmother–a little of this, a little of that.
I will tell you that a “secret” ingredient in her sauce is to take half a teaspoon(or more) of dried fennel seeds and crush them between fingers and put in the sauce–the Bomb!
On a side note: I love lumpia too… the Indonesian version probably a bit different than a Filipino one, but we have a Filipino restaurant in Berlin that serves a version that is not deep fried, I love that one too (mmm… hungry just by the thought of it)
Oh that’s so nice!! I still don’t know what authentic Filipino food taste like, we’ve a few restaurants in the city, but I bet it’s no match for the real thing.
My friend’s mom came to town once and wanted to have a big party for all of her daughter’s friends, so she cooked a lot of Filipino foods and we had such a good time! I got sent home with a huge Ziploc of pancit.
LOL, that sounds about right! We had a ton of leftovers, so I sent my family home with food, and gave a bunch to my neighbors. If/when you come visit Novato I’ll try to hook you up!
Happy Birthday sweet girl!!! Pancit and lumpia are delicious! I have two Filipino sisters in law, I love them!!! A year old for Connor Claire already, it goes by so fast!
Happy birthday, Connor Claire! And congrats to you and El Hub for surviving the tough first year! She’s precious, and I have to say that lasagna looks SPLENDID!
Happy Birthday Connor Claire!! Love her little dress. On another note…I could really go for some pancit and lumpia. I have a Filipino friend who always had those at every special occasion. I’m addicted!!
OMG! The cuteness is off the charts! I love the picture of you holding her and she’s looking straight into the camera. Her outfit is just adorable, too. But where was my invite? You had all those yummies and I didn’t get invited? I would’ve brought a HUGE and FASHIONABLE gift for Connor Claire. Did she eat anything or was she too excited?
Hi Ms Karen!
Beautiful pictures!!! And I truly love that you are carrying on your traditional foods I think this is marvellous! I cannot believe that she is a year old! Wow hoe the time flies…I’m not online any longer, just my phone, but I just had to comment on this. I sure miss seeing your full posts but my spending was getting to be too much. I’ll be back eventually. God’s favor and rich blessings to you and yours!!!! ??⚘????
oh my goodness a year already! Happy Birthday to Connor Claire! She is totally adorable, just like her mom. It’s so lovely of you to share her growing up with all of us. 🙂
She is just too adorable for words!! I’m glad your family was able to spend Connor’s first birthday with her! 🙂 Your meal looks delish. What frosting flavor did you have for the cake? We have done cupcakes for the boys since they were small because one loves coffee frosting and one does not (he’s a chocolate frosting guy). Also, the dress torso? Is that a regular dining room decoration? Do you dress it in different outfits? Inquiring minds want to know!! 🙂
Wow time flies! Happy birthday to your little cutie! I remember when you announced you were pregnant and now look at this! So happy for you and your family Karen 🙂
Happy Birthday little one! so happy to see these photos, makes my heart sing with Joy! our babies really are our everything. so precious! the dress is on point!
Thank you, GlossBerry! It’s been a bittersweet year. I love seeing her get older, but it’s also hard to let go of her no longer being a baby. I was just looking at pictures of her from this day a year ago. She was only a week old, and the teeniest, tiniest thing.
