If you deep dive into the Tom Ford line, passed the popular, costly quads, luxe lipsticks, lavish nail lacquers and pricey perfumes, all of which get lots of love, there’s a lesser-known collection of pigmented $36 pencils called Eye Kohl Intense, and Mink is my go-to. It’s a shimmery bronzed brown with a hint of purple (I think it looks amazing on the lower water line, BTW, and here’s why).
TF just added two new shades — a matte white called White Smoke and a satiny teal called Tourmaline. Both are part of the new Eyes of Tom Ford collection available now.
White Smoke is more pigmented than MAC Fascinating Eye Kohl, the white liner I usually wear on my lower water line, and it sticks around much longer. Once White Smoke is on, it stays on, but the trick is to warm it up first by running the pencil tip on the back of your hand, which softens the formula and brings out more pigment (this way it also won’t creep into your lower lashes or lash line).
Side note: if you usually like to tight line your upper lashes with black liner, try using a long-wearing black gel liner that won’t budge, like MAC Blacktrack, to avoid from having the black liner mix with the white; otherwise, you risk your White Smoke turning into gray smoke!
As for teal Tourmaline, it’s punchy, but it isn’t incredibly flexible because it likes to move a lot more than White Smoke does. So it transfers into my crease and works its way down into my lashes if I don’t set it with a powder.
It works well as a base for smudgy or smoky looks…but not much else.
Of the two new shades, I think White Smoke’s the way to go.

I don´t wear liner on my water line anymore, it always blurs my vision since I started wearing contacts.
That’s too bad. At least it’s one less thing to do, right?
