You beg your mom to put purple sequined cat ears on you, and then you wear them 24/7. ?

And here is what happens when you watch your mom painting her face all the time and find out that there’s a face painting booth at the preschool BBQ, LOL!

This was last weekend. Connor didn’t want anything to do with it at first, but then El Hub said, “Do you want to wear makeup just like mommy?” and her eyes widened with amazement and she sprinted at full speed over to the booth. Then she refused to leave the BBQ until it was her turn to get her face done.
See the subtle blue gradient around the butterfly wings? I peeked inside the face painter’s kit, and she had a cool-looking box of colorful striped blocks called the Paradise Makeup AQ Prisma BlendSet Palette. It’s by a pro makeup line called Mehron. They do a lot of colorful makeup for body painting and performers.

The striped blocks look like bars of soap, and each one has a different combination of colors. You can wet a brush with water, run it along one of the blocks, and brush it on your skin for an instant gradient.
After these dry, they stay put, but they’re easy to wash off with water.
You can also get the blocks separately for $16.95 each… I think I’m gonna order one or two for Halloween so I can paint Connor’s face to match her butterfly costume.
I’ve never painted a butterfly on a human being before, but it can’t be any harder than walking a cat on a leash. 🙂
Have you ever done any theatrical face painting or body art?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

What a cutie! Enjoy this time…my daughter dressed up every single day in the most hilarious get ups of all kinds and then one day, poof it came to an end. I missed the funny dress up, ears, tails and face painting. I volunteered when my daughter was in kindergarten and did it at every school function for 9 years! Her school was a K to 8 school. So even when she grew out of it I painted the younger ones. The key is good paint and good brushes. Have fun!
Oh, thank you for the reminder, Donna. I need to cherish this time as much as I can! It all goes too fast. 🙂
How old is your daughter now?
She’s 16. Just getting the dreaded driver license. She’ll never be home ?
It seems like yesterday I was dropping her off at pre-school for 3 hours twice a week.
she so cute! <3
Aww, thanks Nerr! Happy Friday to you.
I paint my daughters face occasionally as she wants makeup like mom. Mostly with all the glitters I have. I did a butterfly on her once, it was harder than I thought.
Fun! I might add some glitter into the mix when I paint Connor’s face.
She is just too cute for words! As we say in Yiddish, such a punim (face)!
Aww!! Sooo cute. I had two boys who are adults now and never got into anything like this.
I really hope I have a granddaughter one day!!
I think your caption should have read “becomes the cutest thing ever!”. Look at that adorable face! 🙂 You may remember my one attempt at Halloween makeup on one of the boys (zombie, which was good because it did look AWFUL). That was regular makeup, though. The kids have tried some of the cheap face painting stuff but the results were fairly poor.
I totally remember the zombie makeup! LOL! Girl, we’ve been together for so long here! Hard to believe so many years have passed. 🙂
Happy Friday Karen! These are the precious moments, enjoy! My nieces would face paint practice on me, glitter included.. it is so exciting for them ?
How fun, Diana. I think I’ll let Connor unleash her inner face painted on me this weekend!
awwww! she is so big and so beautiful! Clearly she loves her butterfly face, the joy and fun is so evident. I remember those days when my squirmy, active girl would wait in long lines and then sit perfectly still for the face painter. She always chose the butterfly, and we have some amazing pictures of work done by talented face painting artists at the Half Moon Bay pumpkin patch. I think the last time she got this done she was 13. Now she is 16 and does her own face painting of the ghoulish scary variety for Halloween. Enjoy the cat/butterfly phase while it lasts.
Hi Lorraine,
I will. 🙂 I try to remind myself every day that all this goes by so quickly.
How’s your daughter doing with her dance pursuits these days? (We just got back from Tiny Toes ballet class and it was a hoot.)
So adorable! 🙂 <3
“Do you want to wear makeup just like mommy?” and her eyes widened with amazement and she sprinted at full speed over to the booth.
this is adorable ^^^ <3
When did she turn into a little girl? I don’t see any more baby!
