I feel like Smokey the Bear saying “Only you can prevent forest fires” in this picture. I was taking pics of makeup and listening to Taylor Swift and… Well, you can guess how that went. I almost deleted the pics, but eh, life is short. If you can dance and laugh at yourself, you must not be doing *everything* completely wrong, ha ha! ?
On the VIP subject of nails, I finally painted mine yesterday afternoon while Connor was napping. This is two coats of Sally Hansen Mega Strength in She-Ro. Let’s hope it lives up to its name.
Oh, and please excuse the somewhat haphazardly done edges. I was too lazy to remove my contacts or look for my cheaters, so I couldn’t really see what I was doing. (Side note: If you ever want to challenge yourself, try painting your nails when you’re practically blind.)
On that note, now would be a really great time to 1) catch up on your weekly beauty reading, and 2) paint your nails! ?

Ok. The jerk dumping her because of her acne is insane, and some of those comments under there are disgusting. I hope they get deleted soon. I’m so glad my partner is an understanding/non obsessed with looks kind of guy. I don’t have terrible skin, but it’s not smooth and I have large pores and very textured cheeks (which I hate) and he says he can’t even notice, and he always notices and compliments my makeup when I wear it. I wish more men were like him! Women deserve better.
I did some retail therapy this morning and I am currently getting my hair did. Tonight we are going to a college hockey game. We are getting another snowstorm up here in North Dakota and I am not happy about it! Enough already!
How does the Sally Hansen Mega Strength smell? I know it’s an odd question, but I bought a bottle of the Color Therapy with Argan Oil in bronze this past fall and I can get over the extra strong smell. It doesn’t smell like regular polish and the scent seems to linger even after it’s dry. After applying it and then removing it a half day later, I finally tossed the bottle. Shame, I thought it was a pretty color.
That 1930’s makeup tutorial was too much fun. But Vaseline and soot?!? Talk about your smokey eye.
And as for the girl who got dumped for having a little acne, Honey, go out with your girls and celebrate. You just dodged a major bullet.
I seem to have fallen into some sort of alternate universe. Mom and I took our 12 year old to buy dress shoes last weekend, which we were all dreading. But she loved the first pair she tried on. (Her first pair of heels- sob! Well, low wedges, but still…) Then we took our 15 year old (16 this week- sob!) to get her shoes today and she loved the first pair she tried on. Was I sucked into a worm hole? Were my kids replaced by aliens?

Hah, I got a mani-pedi yesterday, and my roots done (more on that in a moment)…there really is something about having a few hours of pampering that makes the world seem brighter. On to roots…Karen, you’ve inspired me. I’ve been thinking for a while about starting to let my roots grow out, as I have some strands of silver, before it gets overwhelming. So on the 26th my amazing chick Kelly is doing a color correction to try to get close to my natural color, and then on the following appt we are putting some ashy highlight in around where my silver is coming in to disguise it as it grows. Now on to ginseng! Ginseng really does do magic on your face. Anyone who ever followed skin and tonics blog and her adventures in skincare probably tried the Sulwhasoo overnight mask (I actually grabbed it and put some on my face a bit ago…lol). It’s a cheaper way to dive into Sulwhasoo’s ginseng line. If you don’t want to pay out for Sulwhasoo, Missha has a U.S. branch out of New Jersey and they have a ginseng line that is really good.
