1. Hourglass Girl in Peacemaker
Found this creamy nude lippie tucked away in a bag the other day and remembered how much I love it.
2. Pastel nails
But you probably knew that already, ha ha! When I go through a phase, I’m all in, man. This week I’m wearing a creamy peachy pink, Sally Hansen Her-Oine, from the Mega Strength line.

3. One Strange Rock (on Netflix)
All I have to say about this National Geographic nature series I just started watching on Netflix is this: If you’re into fun facts, you’ll learn A LOT. Rather, I sure have. You’ll sail through Final Jeopardy if you watch this show, which is narrated by Will Smith. It explores Earth sciences and general cool tidbits of knowledge through the eyes of eight real life astronauts, and I learned so many new things in the first episode alone! Like, that there’s something called “marine snow,” or that there’s a floating river of water high above the Amazon, or that dust storms that originate in Africa are constantly sending waves of minerals over the oceans to South America…
Our planet ? is amazing.
FYI, there’s an incredible scene in the first episode of a newly born baby taking its first breath. I’m just saying — this softie was bawling.
4. Hot water with lemon
I don’t know where I got this idea…but I think it was from reading the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, now that I think about it. The main characters were always drinking hot water with lemon.
I drink this, too, but not really because of the taste.
I mean, it tastes a’ight, like how you’d expect hot water with lemon to taste, but I drink it because I like how it feels. The hot (but not too hot) water going down my throat is kinda relaxing, and then I can feel the warmth spread across my chest.
It’s weirdly addictive. This morning alone I’ve had four big mugs, and I’m about to make another.
5. Outdoor rugs for inside
I’ve been looking for a rug for the dining room, and I read somewhere that using an outdoor rug for high-traffic indoor areas, especially when pets or kids are involved, is a good idea, because outdoor rugs are generally made to withstand it, and they’re usually easier to clean than most regular indoor rugs.
There’s a few at Target that I like, like this blue Ikat pattern and this botanical print, which is GORGEOUS, but it has some not-so-great reviews.
I also like this vintage floral, although I don’t know if it would work in my dining room because the walls are blue… I think all of them would hide the crumbs (and cat hair) well, though.
And that’s it for me. What have you been loving lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Single serve cups of coffee. I never thought I’d be one to follow the Keurig single cup of coffee train but I’m obsessed!
I’m counting down the days until Netflix premiers the 3rd season of Santa Clarita Diet. I’m not one to normally get into shows about zombies but it has the adorable Drew Barrymore and it’s so bizarre but hilarious at the same time. Cannot wait!
Lactose Free Milk. I love dairy but I’m not the biggest milk drinker. My daughter started getting upset stomachs after too much milk and we started opting for lactose free and no such irritations. Even when at coffee shops, we’ll ask for Almond or Soy milk instead.
I never used to use the dark matte shades of a palette. I always felt a super smoky eye or putting a dark grey or black in the outer V was too messy and too harsh. Maybe I wasn’t the age to appreciate it but now I love using a dark matte color in the outer V. Me? I don’t know if I’m more skilled or more brave. Maybe it is just more necessary as I age. I dunno. A favorite is ABH Cypress Umber. Where have you been all of my life? It’s such a beautiful matte dark brown. So flattering. Such a workhorse. Lovely! ABH can put it in EVERY palette and I’ll be happy. It’s there for a reason. ..it’s so good!
MAC Shroom to set my eye primer (MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre). I apply it from lashes to brows. It looks so lovely on the browbone. Other eyeshadows blend so seamlessly on top of it. It’s one of the few eyeshadows I have hit major pan. It’s well loved bc it’s so amazing and a must have! I have been giving a lot of love to my many MAC eyeshadows the month of March and it’s been fun reconnecting with old favorites. Shroom is in constant rotation?
I’m looking forward to the new season of Santa Clarita Diet too! Did you know that Santa Clarita is an actual town?! I had no idea; I thought it was just for the show until I chatted with a girl on Instagram who lives there. Also, the guy who plays Drew Barrymore’s husband… Don’t laugh, but I’m constantly mixing him up with Fergie’s ex husband. I swear those two are twins!
Your comment about Shroom (one of my first MAC loves) makes me think of all my MAC loves: Cork, Brun, Brule, Concrete, Soba, Saddle, Brown Down…
Love everything u have said and we watched it too on Netflix I cried like a baby too lol. The best thing about hot water and lemon first thing before eating or coffee or tea it helps cleanse your body of all the yucky stuff in your body. I started drinking this too after I had my fifth autoimmune disease diagnosed and it really does give u that warm sunny feeling like u said. Great info and u look amazingly gorgeous.
Thanks, Carol! I haven’t tried drinking it before my coffee or tea. Will give that a go tomorrow morning! Do you ever put honey in yours? I’m tempted to sometimes to add a little sweetness (plus I like how honey feels on my throat).
I do add a bit of honey too sometimes as long as it’s a natural sugar like honey or maple syrup sugar cane xylitol it’s all ok. I have six autoimmune diseases so one being celiac and soy and lactose free so I’ve researched out the good ones. Lol. Knowledge is power and I have researched the heck out of all six lol
You’re not alone. I always mix him up with Fergie’s Ex. Identical twins!
I am loving makeup that can multi-task. I am starting to rebuild my collection after several “no-buy until I use up” months. I am going to a wedding this coming weekend and I wanted to try something out of my comfort zone. I recently purchased a NARS eyeshadow duo, Silk Road. Even though the shadows are shimmery in this duo, I am trying the darker more coppery shade on my lid with MAC Soft Brown matte in the crease. I am using the lighter shade in the duo as a cheek highlighter with my blush. So far, I am loving the look.
I am also loving Celestial Seasons Lemon ginger decaf tea. I had a stomach bug two weeks ago and was drinking lots of tea. This one didn’t screw my stomach up.
Finally, Bruce and I recently binge watched an Israeli show on Netflix called Shtisel. One of the main male characters is very easy on the eyes to watch. It was very good for a story about the Ultra-Orthodox community. Unfortunately, there are only 2 seasons and no plans to continue it.
Anyway, looking forward to some warmer weather this weekend and to see my parents.
I love hot water and lemon! Make sure you drink with a straw. The lemon will eat your enamel, as my dentist points out each time I go to him.
I recently binged in Secret City on Netflix. I live those crime mysteries. Will check out your rec after I finish. I used to watch YouTube beauty videos while I worked out but realized it was bad for my minimalism/low-buy.
I need to try hot water and lemon. I love coffee for that warming, cozy feeling first thing in the morning. But if I drink coffee after 11 a.m. I am awake all night long. I’m wearing a periwinkle blue polish today, but I’m still on the hunt for a spring pink that isn’t too patchy or pasty on my hands. Would help if I had better polish application skills.
I’ve been cleaning out my old makeup and now I have empty four pans from MAC. I’m thinking of getting one of the larger empty palettes and putting some classic colors in it. Satin Taupe, brulee, shroom, etc.
I was just in The Christmas Tree Shops over the weekend and saw some nice outdoor rugs there.

Been on a Netflix binge lately. Been watching The Order. The Dirt is next on my list. I love Motley Crue! Also, I’m waiting for Santa Clarita Diet too. It’s soooo good!
Not to scare you but don’t have too high of hopes for The Dirt. It covers so many events in the bands history. Some accurate and some not so much but that’s typical of bios. But other than the look of the band, no one else looked very 80s and they don’t really delve into any one moment for too long. It just lacks emotion imo and falls a bit flat. I won’t say I was disappointed but I would have liked the music to take center stage but instead it felt like background noise and everything was so rushed. I mean they made it seem like when Vince’s daughter was diagnosed w cancer she died the same day. I get they only had two hrs to cover 20 some yrs but they didn’t have to cover everything. I rather they chose some highlights and really delved into them rather than squeeze everything in. I dunno just my thought ? BTW diehard Crue fan!
I use an outdoor rug in my foyer and I love it. If the weather is bad, or one of the kitties decides to throw up on it, (don’t they always throw up on something hard to clean?) you just take it outside and hose it off. Ballard Designs has a great selection and they are reasonably priced. They spot clean easily too. Just make sure to put a rug pad under it so it won’t slip and slide.
I don’t know how you do it, but you get prettier every day!
Lately I am so into lavender and violet nail polish. I don’t know why but they are so beautiful compared to lilac which looks kind of washed out to me. I love Zoya Haruko so check it out if you are still into pastels. I love lemon and like hot water and yesterday when I had some nasty stomach bug I drank some and let me tell you it helped even with the nausea. That Netflix show sounds interesting but I am so anxiously waiting for Jane the Virgin which premieres tomorrow ?
The last two days, I’ve binge-listened to a new podcast on Spotify called Cold. (As in cold case.) It’s about the disappearance of a wife in Utah and the murder-suicide of her husband and sons. I’ve never been a big podcast fan, but I found I enjoy book-related ones and occasionally true crime ones. Podcasts are so great to keep your mind busy while doing boring work, like folding clothes.
My latest Netflix obsession has been Northern Rescue, which I always want to call Northern Exposure. (It’s totally not that show.) So good!!!
1. Minipeppers…. um why did this take me so long! SO TENDER!
2. Ceramic Slip (OG Version) from Sunday Riley
3. Warmer days! Spring is in full swing, AZ spring is a little hotter but I’m okay with it so far.
4. Windsor Bench from Tarjay, I need to figure out how to get it home!
5. Speaking of Tarjay, Opalhouse decor. I guess moving to the desert makes me want to be the queen of boho.
I LOVE OUTDOOR RUGS INSIDE!
A rug that hides crumbs and cat hair sounds perfect for the dining room. Although I admit I loose more hair than the cat.
I’m gonna have to try the hot water with lemon, and I need to just buy one of those Hourglass Lips because I have been eyeing them for some time. For me:
1. Hourglass bronzer in radiant? Whatever the cooler one is. My skin is neutral/cool and this stuff is just amazing.
2. Pureology hydrate conditioner. It has peppermint in it & it tingles your head. It actually helps me wake up in the morning.
3. Tom Ford Nude Blush lipstick. The most perfect lipstick, it minimizes lip lines and makes my lips look bigger without plumping.
4. My new Hoka running shoes. I’ve been wearing Brooks forever but these have extra cushion. Plus I got them in the cutest green color.
5. My new Jeep! I just got new wheels because I needed 4 wheel drive due to living out in the country. I had to trade my Cadillac in and I didn’t think it would be smooth like the Cadillac but surprisingly, it’s not bad! Of course I got a 4 door but it’s so fun to drive!
1. Dove’s exfoliating body polish (or any creamy scrub/ not oil and sugar ones) – my skin really benefits from regular scrubs like this and helps prevent ingrown hairs. It exfoliates just enough and rinses off easily. Perfect.
2. Andalou Naturals 1000 roses day cream- is just enough moisture for my oily/sensitive skin and it wears really well underneath makeup.
3. Mac Sable eyeshadow- weirdest thing. Loved it years ago and then I hated it. Tried it again last weekend and I got such lovely compliments and I genuinely liked it on.
4. Mac Get Lit hyper real highlighter palette- wow is this thing magical. The glow is so pretty and seamless and it doesn’t emphasize my textured cheeks. I love it!
5. My boyfriend (best for last) – some might roll their eyes but he deserves a shout out. He’s the sweetest most loving man I’ve ever met. He even threw me a birthday party and his entire family came. Sometimes … Things are a blessing in disguise. I never thought I’d be this happy. My ex did me the best favor ever. I’m grateful.
