Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Neutralizer Concealer. I also really enjoyed Maybelline Better Skin Pressed Powder, Bare Minerals Mineral Veil, Bare Minerals Matte Mineral Foundation, MAC Nourishing Waterproof Foundation, MAC Blot Powder and Estee Lauder Double Wear. Also Clinique is a go to brand for powder and foundations. I know they will have a shade that matches me and I am always certain I will find a product that works. But tbh I am not loyal to any one product. I just pick up and try things. Bought a bigger size of the Fenty Pro F’lter Powder in Butter bc I enjoyed the point perk from Sephora. And I am liking the Loreal Infallible Fresh Wear for something lighter and skin like that doesn’t break down horribly on me. But I cannot say I will continue to purchase and there are always other things to try!
I’ve been sticking with Revlon Colorstay foundation lately. It’s reasonably priced (you can even find coupons sometimes) and I think it works just as well as the high end stuff. I like the Makeup Forever Full Cover Concealer, stays put even in the summer and a tube will last over a year in my experience!
i love the sephora bright future gel serum. I am sad they discontinued a color that i loved but i am using colourpop now.
I’m on the hunt for a new concealer for my under eyes. I feel like I need a more hydrating concealer. My go-to items right now are: the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream, the Too Faced Peach Perfect, and the Dior Face and Body for foundation, the Urban Decay Optical Illusion Primer, and for powder my favorite will always be the MAC Mineralized Skin Finish.
I love these kinds of posts. So many good suggestions.
Foundation: Benefit Hello Happy Soft Blur; Laura Mercier Candleglow (this one is strictly my cool weather foundation); and Dior Backstage Face & Body. I also like the Fenty foundation, but haven’t bought any since I prefer the Dior and Benefit.
Primer: Dior Backstage Face & Body; and Benefit The POREfessional
Powder: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Concealer: Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit
Concealer – Nars Soft Matte, Nars creamy concealer, Charlotte Tilbury magic concealer.
Foundation – Armani Luminous silk, It Cosmetics CC cream, EL Double Wear, Chanel Water Tint, Clinique stick foundation, Bare Minerals tint, Dior Serum foundation,
I have these foundations: La Mer (looks nice, not sure it’s worth the ginormous price tag), Armani Luminous Silk, Chanel Perfection Lumiere (probably my HG), YSL All Hours (too matte for me, so I mix in a drop of Ren Perfect Canvas I got in a gift bag).
Concealer: I have te Tarte Shape Tape, but it’s a bit too thick for me, and the Too Faced Born This Way, which I like better, but not sure if it’s my HG. I might try the Armani Power Fabric after I finish those 2, as I’m trying to finish things before I buy more.
Primer: Not sure primers really do much for me, tbh. The Clinique Super Primer I think helps with oil control in my t-zone, but other than that I’ve never really tried one that actually seemed to make a noticeable difference in minimizing pores, helping foundation last longer, etc. The ones I have are the Super Primer, Cover FX one, and the Guerlain L’or. I have samples of some MUFE ones I haven’t tried yet.
Powder: Currently using La Mer all over face and By Terry Hydra under eyes. I have the Charlotte Tilbury pressed in backup, and the La Prairie I bought at Duty Free in Switzerland in backup as well.
I’m loving Uoma Beauty Foundation, Smith & Cult foundation, and Lancôme Skin Feels Good Hydrating skin tint. The Lancôme because I needed something with spf that wasn’t heavy or left me looking grey. The Uoma though is about to give my tried and true who I always go back to Giorgio Armani luminous silk a run for it’s money. This stuff is like good skin in a bottle for me, I love the natural coverage and it doesn’t look flat. Smith and cult is like your skin but Matte and better, although it isn’t full coverage. I’m starting to become really curious about MAC foundations, which surprisingly I don’t own any. I have the studio tech foundation in a compact and some concealers but the closest I have in the MAC family is the waterproof foundation. After reading this post now and clicking on each one and reading now I feel like I have to go get at least one of two LOL
I am super lazy when it comes to foundation. A BB creme(Bobbi Brown of late) or tinted moisturizer, medium coverage foundation(Laura Mercier’s discontinued Candleglow) and whatever powder happens to be within reach. Seriously, I can’t be bothered to learn how to use concealers and all the rest. Though I admit to recently getting hooked on Bobbi Brown’s Illuminating Primer with SPF so I can skip that step in my skincare! hahaha
Sunscreens which I use as a primer also. Shiseido SPF 50 that Dear Husband brings from Japan, Radical Skincare SPF it’s either 30 or 40 or Clinique City Sunscreen.
Foundation IF I wear it, Chantecaille Future Skin, MAC Face & Body or Armani Luminous Silk.
Concealer MAC Pro Longwear Concealer or NARS Radiant Creamy concealer.
Powder Laura Mercier Translucent or Rouge Bunny Rouge Impalpable Finishing powder.
Oh my, alot of the items you listed I haven’t tried out (yet)! I’m still on the hunt for my HGs.
Foundations: I really like the Chanel Water Fresh Tint, especially now that it’s summer. It’s provides light coverage but the consistency and wear time is good. I also like NARS Pure Radiant tinted moisturizer and Chanel CC cream (though this is a little thick) for outdoor activities, and was looking forward to trying out the NARS SPF50 cushion foundation that was just launched, but was told by one of their beauty advisors that it wasn’t going to be offered in the US. 🙁
Concealers: The Maybelline Rewind concealer is nice; so far it’s my favorite concealer. Close second is NARS Radiant Creamy concealer. The Sephora gel sounds intriguing – that will be on my next to-buy list to try out!
Primer: I’m bad in this department – I usually forget to use this! When I do remember, the NARS SPF50 primer or the 35SPF one are the ones I use. Chanel also has a product (not sure if it’s considered a primer?) the Light Creator Brightening makeup base that I’ve been using to help hide redness.
Powder: I haven’t tried the Chanel Universal powder, but am liking the Les Beiges Healthy Glow one. Also, Laura Mercier’s powder is pretty awesome. Will soon be trying out the Jeffree Star Magic Star setting powder, as I’ve been hearing good things about it from friends.
I always end up back with MAC face and body. Occasionally, I use Studio Fix liquid for days where I want more coverage–usually winter more than any other time of year. I usually dilute it with some strobe cream so it doesn’t settle into the fine lines so much. I use Cerave moisturizer and for the primer (Monistat anti chafe gel–supposedly a dupe for Smashbox photo finish.) I use MAC mineralize in golden as a finishing powder. I should use concealer but they seem to emphasize my fine lines and until I start moisturizing more, it’s not going to get any better.
I wish foundations were easier to match. I’ve wanted to try Laura Mercier liquid foundation but every time I go to the counter, I get a different color recommendation. I tried MAC Studio Tech this weekend but the coverage might be a little more than what I want for summer–I also think the color match was slightly too dark. I guess that’s why I always end up in Face and Body–I know my color and it seems to work!
I’m a fan of Tarte BB cream but also like the Amore Pacific cushion for summer (because of the SPF 50). I used to use Benefit’s PoreFessional in my T zone before my retinol kick – now I find I don’t really need it. I also like Becca’s Backlight Primer but not the purple (that kind of makes me look like grim death). I think it’s the pink, though I’m having trouble finding the name online. I’m no help on powder – I almost never use it – but do reach for Tom Ford when I feel I absolutely need some. 🙂
Chanel Ultra de Tenue and the Chanel pink primer underneath. Sadly, I have never really found a holy grail concealer for these 42 yo eyes. I’m currently using one from Fenty but it’s just ehhh. Hourglass mood lighting powder. I feel human again after application.
I need to experiment with so much more!
