Wouldn’t it be great if there were a Halloween for makeup lovers 👻💄– a day specifically for makeup aficionados where one could walk up to a house, ring the doorbell and squee, “Trick or Treat!” and the person at the door would hand out makeup? I’d go to the house handing out Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks over and over, ha ha ha! 😂

These have been my jam lately. You don’t even really need a brush to blend them! Fingers do just fine. Add a swipe of liner and a swish of mascara, and you’ve got a polished eye look in mere minutes.
That’s impressive!

I usually do a lighter color all over my lids and a darker color like Plum or Cocoa in the outer corner.
Please tell me you’ve got Cocoa in your makeup collection. I think it’s a must!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Karen,
I love the LM Caviar sticks. It is one of the few cream shadow formulas that don’t seem to crease on my dry eyelids. My go to shade is Au Naturel which I do need to replace. It’s the perfect matte shade. I am planning to pick up the 3 mini gift set from Ulta which I believe has Cocoa, Copper and Amethyst. I know they have some shimmer in them, but I feel like they are great shades to go with the matte shade.
Hope all is well and you had a good Halloween.
Hi Jane,
I love them! I think I saw that same set of minis at Sephora. I was tempted but I sometimes don’t like how smaller versions of makeup feel in my hand. I know that’s super picky but I want to be able to use and love everything in my makeup bag, you know? Did you guys have a good Halloween? We did trick or treating with a couple of Connor’s friends in our immediate neighborhood, then we went to her friend’s house across town for a quick dinner and did some trick or treating there, too. It was busy and fun.
Ooooh, I love Laura Mercier’s products. Her tinted moisturizer has been my jam since the beginning of time. Okay, maybe not that but I started buying those when I was 30 and I’m going to be 52 (!!!!!!!!!) in January and I’m still buying them every year. That says a lot.
So I’ll have to check these out and maybe get the mini set at the mothership. I haven’t seen it there yet so maybe I should just order online during the sale. I can really get behind a stick that I just swipe over my eyelid. I don’t have a lot of hand eye coordination and I can’t see very well anymore so this would probably work for me.
Ooh get the mini! Do know that they might feel different in your hands compared to the full-size ones.
Don’t you love it when you find a product that is perfect for you!? I’m glad the caviar sticks have been great for you. 🙂 Your Halloween sounds like it was a fun time. I hope Connor had a blast!!
She did. You know what I didn’t realize was a thing? I don’t know if it’s just in our neck of the woods, but dang… All the parents were a little tipsy, I think!
HAHA! I thought that was just hockey parents. If you lived in my neck of the woods, you’d be surprised to find anyone who wasn’t tipsy. EVER. 😉 Kidding, but yes, at least around here, that’s sort of the norm. Especially for street events where people can walk, rather than drive. At least one parent is usually much more restrained in case something happens and they need to drive to the ER, but I think it’s kind of a group parenting mentality. You can relax a bit more since the kids are in a safe place, occupied with their friends, there are a lot of responsible adults and you can socialize a bit. I’m sure opinions vary widely about what’s acceptable, and not, in front of the kids. My boys used to find it very funny to see other parents “in the sauce”, but they had a very different attitude on the few occasions they’d seen me overserved. 🙂
The plum and the cocoa are so pretty! I have Au Naturel and like it for no makeup makeup.
I keep hearing about that color! It must be a workhorse!
The way I use it wouldn’t work for you, but I use it in the crease and outer corner occasionally when I’m not wearing anything on the lid to give some definition, since it’s darker than my skin.
Hi! Would you be able to share pics of these shadows applied only with fingers? I’m so not a makeup brush person, but I’m also not an eyeshadow person (I do winged liner, no shadow) – so would appreciate some convincing that I can do this with these products! Thanks!
Here ya go, Kathleen!
Face of the Day: Rosy Neutrals for Work With Laura Mercier
Ooh, Karen, that looks doable – and so pretty! Thanks!!
I checked the Caviar Sticks on Sephora’s website and only found myself interested in 5 of the shades-Forbidden Rose, Kiss from a Rose, Rose Thorn, Rush, and Intense Amethyst. Then again, I always have preferred bolder makeup, so maybe they’re just more subtle than what I usually go for?
In your hypothetical situation, if we were trick-or-treating for makeup in the same neighborhood and each got a shade we didn’t want at the Caviar Stick house, I’d totally trade with you, Karen!
Karen, could you show us a photo of you as you described, with a lighter colour over the lid and a darker one at the corner, so I can see how well they work?
Pretty Please?!
Sure. Here are a few examples.

Thank you – looks fab on you! Wondering if I have the skills to do the same?!
I don’t have any of the original ones, just cheaper versions that never last on my lids and leave me disappointed! Serves me right for not getting the original I guess.
