Hi, and happy Caturday!
Oh, and happy National Lash Day too! Yes, we’re celebrating eyelashes now. 🤷♀️ My lashes are currently on the hunt for a new mascara, by the way. If you’re happy with yours, please share because Laura Mercier Caviar just isn’t doing it for me anymore (the curl hold isn’t the same for whatever reason).
Lately, I’ve been wearing a layer of Ilia Fullest Volumizing Mascara with a waterproof mascara on top, and while it does the job just fine, I’d prefer to have a one-and-done solution, so let me know if you’ve found anything life changing!
Speaking of lashes, Connor had a mini-meltdown over her eyelashes recently. Hers are long and curly like El Hub’s, and they often get caught in her eyes, which is very uncomfortable for her. When it happens, I either help her use a washcloth or rinse out her eyes with water to get the stuck lashes out.
Anywho, it happened again the other day, and she started talking about cutting her lashes off because they were so bothersome… I shut that down real quick. I think between the “absolutely not” and “you’re gonna poke your eye out,” something may have gotten lost in translation because she just started bawling. I held her in my arms and assured her that it wasn’t always going to be a problem, and that one day she’d be grateful for such lovely lashes. Then we rinsed out her eyes and went about business as usual.

So yeah, happy National Lash Day. I hope you aren’t having a meltdown!
This week’s reading
- Social media influencers are now cloning their pets…
- Debbie Harry on red lipstick: “Red lipstick can be one of the disasters with smearing and bleeding, but then again, these can be intriguing looks to develop. I didn’t always wear red lips, and the shades of red varied according to what I was wearing, my mood, or whatever I had available. I always like shades that had names that implied something wild, tempting, or nasty.”
- Stevie Nicks is still living her dreams. 😊
- Acne is generally regarded differently in Korea than it is in the United States. In Korea, dermatologists focus on hydration and moisture barrier support to prevent blemishes.
- Dog cologne is a thing. 🙄
One of my favorite cat “ladies” is clearly not a minimalist.
If you like fancy things…
I want to do this!
“I don’t like open concepts. Give me a room where I can shut a door.” <-----same
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend. Anything exciting happening on your end? 😃
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

I love every Ilia product I have (and I have a LOT of them) but I am not a big fan of their mascara. It smears under my eyes more than most. I may try the waterproof over the top like you do to see if that helps. So far the Lancome Defencils is still my fav for staying in place.
Bless Connor’s little heart! She will be thankful one day for sure. We joke in my family that all the boys got the long curly lashes.
I tried the Ilia volumizing mascara but the wand was too fat for me. I need more control. I have been loyal the past several years to Ilia’s limitless lash and Glossier lash slick (perfect for low makeup days).
Happy lash day!
Try and get your hands on the new MAC Stack Mascara. If you are a MAC lover member it is available to you. I was sent advance sample of mega brush to try and really like. Also has a micro brush version.
I really love the Trish McAvoy mascara. Long lashes…no flaking or transfer!
Connor was blessed at birth with better lashes than I have now. But that is a really horrible feeling to get your lashes stuck. I do that accidentally when I’m rubbing my eyes too much.
So sad about the meowdown! Hope she’s recovered.
I was just maybe two or three years older than her when I decided I had entirely too much hair on my arms and took a razor to them.
Ah childhood.
I have been so loving the new Caliray mascara from Sephora!!! I love that it’s a tubing mascara and no matter how rushed I am it always turns out good!
Urban Decay Perversion is still a favorite mascara of mine. I don’t like them too clumpy (like most Too Faced mascaras). Perversion is a good mix of lengthening and volumizing with a good brush, and they still look somewhat natural.
I’m always trying new formulas because I get a lot of samples, but Perversion is really the only one I consistently don’t have a complaint about. Always on the lookout for a new good one though! 👀
My new fav is YSL Lash Clash Extreme Volume Mascara – it lengthens my short lashes, doesn’t clump, doesn’t smudge and no fall out through the day. Really gentle formula for my rosacea suffering eyes. A must try.
I feel for Connor and it seems it starts even earlier these days but for some reason we tend to see what we don’t like or want about ourselves and we want what others have instead. Never fails – hahaha.
I hear you – one of the boys used to say the same thing about wanting to cut his lashes. He’s outgrown it, so I have confidence Connor will too. Once the compliments start rolling in, long lashes seem to be worth the inconvenience. 😉
