This Coywolf turned six today! What a trip it is to help guide a little person through their early years. Each day really is an adventure.
Right now she loves dancing (and will probably join the dance team at her studio next year), and anything and everything related to animals. Her favorite school activities are art, P.E. and STEM lab. And when it’s playtime, she loves building with Legos and playing with her stuffies and dolls.
Last night I prepped her annual birthday lasagna!

She gets one every year, and I bake it in her special birthday pan. It’s our fun family tradition — because nothing says I love you like cheese and carbs, LOL!

Oh, and she truly is her father’s daughter, because when it came to picking out a cake, she specifically requested chocolate.
We’ll be throwing a birthday party with her friends at her dance studio on Saturday, which should be fun! It’s her first real birthday party with a bunch of kids, and so she’s excited. I’ve been super busy doing prep for everything… I swear, none of these kids will probably care about the details, but it’s important to me that she has a good time, so when this memory tucks itself deep into her mind, she’ll remember how much fun she had and how loved she felt.
If it’s your birthday today, too, then happy birthday! Yay for March babies.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Happy birthday Connor! So exciting (and heartbreaking at the same time), My little girl turns 8 in April and it just really gets to me sometimes. I love that she is happy and growing, but another part of me wants her to stay little😢. Crazy roller coaster of emotions with kids.
It’s easy to worry about all of the party details (anxiety driven perfectionist here)…but I promise at the end of the day all they see is friends and cake. And I can tell by your photos and updates….she definitely knows she is loved ❤!
Thank you, Mandy. I totally know what you mean… I have the same roller coaster emotions all the time. I know that there will come a time when she will pull away from me, but I hope that perhaps we’ll go against the trend and stay close.
What is the age of eight like? I feel like kids grow up so much faster now. Is eight is the new 12?
At 7….she still wants to dress like me and wants to be around me🥰. I’m hoping that age 8 does not change much. She loves animals (We have 3 dogs, and she wants a hamster for her birthday). She likes playing Minecraft with her brother and his friend. She loves unicorns, but also loves all things Marvel. The biggest change is she has started to care what kids at school say. And of course my wish for her is to be herself no matter what. I want her to keep wearing sparkly tutus one day and Spiderman shirts the next if it makes her happy. I don’t want her to waste any time worrying about what other people say.
Happy 6th birthday to Connor! She is getting to be quite the young lady. Zack is 21 today!
Be well!
Happy birthday to your baby! 🙂 How will he be celebrating?
They really grow up so fast. My son will be 6 next Monday (yay for March babies!), and he is my little one – his sister is 8 already.
Happy Birthday, Connor Claire! I can’t believe she’s 6 already, Karen. Where did the time go? Her party at her dance studio sounds fabulous. And a lasagna for bday dinner is the best. Enjoy!
Happy Birthday to Connor!
I’m sure the party will turn out fine. She’s lucky that she is so loved and has a mom who puts so much effort and thought into things.
That lasagna looks fabulous! I can’t think of a yummier birthday dinner than lasagna with chocolate cake for dessert.
Happy birthday to Connor Claire! She looks so tall in that picture! How the time flies!
My girls are over a week old already and I know it sounds so dumb but oh my gosh it is already going so fast!
You are the best mom for making her birthday special and throwing a party!
Happy birthday Connor Claire! I’ll always choose chocolate cake too, a girl after my own heart. Plus the recipe for chocolate cake I got from my friend converts to cupcakes or different sizes easily and is such an easy recipe. I hope her party goes well!
She is NOT six!!! Get out!!! My goodness how time flies! I remember your pregnancy video announcement and being excited (and nervous) for you. My boys are nine (and a half) and seven and my time with them has been a roller coaster of fun, stress, fun, disaster, fun and lots of love. Happy six to Miss Connor Claire! And happy six years of building a bright and kind young woman, Karen!
Happy birthday Conner! I cannot believe you’re 6 years old already! Where has the time gone? Your mommy is kind enough to let us in on a little bit of your world and it is so fun watching you grow up!
Happy birthday, Connor! I think your lasagna tradition is so sweet (and delicious). Keep up the good work, mom and dad.
Happy birthday to Connor! Baking lasagna in her special pan is a great tradition. Memories and traditions from my childhood still mean a lot to me and I’m sure they will to her, too.
Happy Birthday, Connor Claire! I can’t believe she’s six. I, too, remember your pregnancy announcement. Enjoy the Day!
Happy Birthday Connor Claire! I can’t believe she is 6! Enjoy your special lasagna and chocolate cake! Sounds like an awesome party this weekend. 🎂🎈
A very Happy Bithday to Connor Claire – and to you too Karen because 6 years ago today was a very big day for you too, you became a Mom.
I think the lasagna pan is so sweet for your girl and lasagna is a perfect Bday dinner – that was also mine too from my mom and I still wish for it many Bdays even in middle age!!!
I hope the kids Bday party Saturday goes smoothly and you all have fun.
Happy Birthday to Connor Claire!! She’s growing up so fast!! Hope she has fun at her party this weekend. And that lasagna looks absolutely delicious!!
Happy Sixth Birthday to Connor! I hope all her dreams come true.

Happy Birthday to your beautiful daughter. Enjoy every moment of it – next thing you know she’ll have kids of her own who want to borrow your car 🙂
Happy Big 6th Birthday, Connor Claire! How great that she loves art and STEM. She will be able to do anything! Congrats and hope you have a great time at your party.
Happy Birthday Connor! She’s so lucky to have a mom like you. My mother never bothered to have a birthday party for me that friends would be invited to. I’m sure she felt that she was too busy (and she was pretty busy, with four kids), but it’s still depressing to look back and realize none of us deserved to have a real birthday party. We did get a cake and a present each year. I think she thought that was enough, since she came from a huge Depression-era family in which no one got much of anything extra.
