So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Matte, shimmer or satin blush?
Matte, please, with satin close behind. I rarely do shimmery blushes these days because too much pore drama!
2. Are you having a good day so far?
Yes, so good. I just finished working out, so my limbs have that lovely loosey-goosey feeling.
3. Mascara in mini packaging — your thoughts?
Is it just me, or are mini mascaras a total sham? They never seem to work quite as well as the full-size tubes. The ones I’ve tried are dry, dry, dry.
4. Do you have a favorite bug?
It’s a tie between monarch butterflies and ladybugs.
5. Last thing you returned?
A J. Crew white ruffle collar shirt that looked so cute on the model online but on me, not so much.
6. How often do you clean the inside lining of your makeup bag?
Um, not nearly enough. If you know of a makeup bag that I can easily throw in the wash without any drama, do tell.
7. Hair styles that remind you of your teenage years?
Big, fluffy supermodel hair a la Cindy Crawford. Even after all these years, it’s still my dream hair.
8. Are you a skin care minimalist or a maximalist?
I’m somewhere in between.

By the end of the day today, I’d like to reschedule a dentist appointment. Oh, and I need to buy some shorts. Why is it so hard to find decent shorts? The struggle is so real.

9. Call my hair salon to schedule an appointment for end of April. My hair has never been the same after I colored it last summer post-pandemic — my hairstylist miscalculated how light my hair could go. I’m trying to return it to a MBB color.

2. Are you having a good day so far? Pretty good. It’s 73 degrees in New Jersey today in early March. I did a morning walk and did not wear a jacket today.
3. Mascara in mini packaging — your thoughts? I like it for travel, but not for every day use.
4. Do you have a favorite bug? Ladybugs
5. Last thing you returned? Lisa Eldridge velvet lipstick. It was just too drying on my aging lips.
6. How often do you clean the inside lining of your makeup bag? Every few months since I only use it when I travel and have not been going anywhere lately,
7. Hair styles that remind you of your teenage years? The shag haircut
8. Are you a skin care minimalist or a maximalist? Mostly minimalist.
9. A teeny, tiny goal you’d like to accomplish this week? Build up my stamina on the rowing machine, maybe make it to 20 minutes.
I hope all went well for Connor on her birthday. Zack seemed to have had a good time in Ithaca. He’ll be home soon so I can give him real birthday hug.

Not really. I didn’t sleep well last night.

Love them! I never go through a full tube before it’s time to toss it, so it ends up wasting money. Also, the mini tubes are so much easier to handle. You can really get each lash covered.
4. Do you have a favorite bug?
Butterflies.

A dress that was definitely not the soft, banana yellow depicted on the website I ordered it from.

I only use a bag when I’m traveling, so just a quick wipe-out before and after use.

Sky-high bangs, ugh.

Put away my winter clothes.
Have you tried Old Navy for shorts? My girls buy them sometimes. Our oldest started college today, btw. Just go ahead and start Connor’s packing list; you won’t believe how fast the next several years will go by. 😢
I have, and I remember having a pair and not totally hating them. LOL! I’m so picky about clothes now, and if there’s one little thing that bothers me, then I won’t wear whatever item it is. Honestly, I just hate clothes shopping, and this is probably my excuse to avoid it.
Also, a big HOORAY to the oldest starting college. Next stop: college graduation!

Yeah, I feel the normal-sized ones are better quality and definitely easier to use.

A favorite bug? I don’t think so. Maybe a ladybug, maaaybe… Don’t really consider butterflies as bugs… Maybe a dragonfly? (If that’s a bug)

So many things. A pair of UGG rain boots was one of them. (Didn’t fit).

5. Last thing you returned? I don’t think I’ve ever returned anything. No, I returned a package of chicken that had turned, 15 years ago.
6. How often do you clean the inside lining of your makeup bag? I don’t use a bag, I use plastic bins. I wipe them out every month or so.
7. Hair styles that remind you of your teenage years? Big, 90’s, supermodel hair. Big hair is awesome!

1. Matte, shimmer or satin blush? Satin or satin-matte. Shimmer doesn’t work with pores and matte just makes me look like a dried up prune.
2. Are you having a good day so far? Yup. Worked out with trainer until my quads and glutes felt like gelatin.
3. Mascara in mini packaging — your thoughts? Ever the outlier, I love mini mascaras. They’re great for travel (still hoping that can resume soon).
4. Do you have a favorite bug? I like the shiny, iridescent, blue-green of scarab beetles. Not sure how I’d feel if I actually saw one in person.
5. Last thing you returned? An Allsaints necklace. A full size tube of mascara. The sales associate sent the wrong one.
6. How often do you clean the inside lining of your makeup bag? I only use makeup bags when I travel and I clean them out every time I return from a trip.

1. Matte, shimmer or satin blush? Satin. I no longer wear shimmery blushes because they emphasize texture (gettin’ old—lol) and matte looks flat and lifeless on my über dry skin.
2. Are you having a good day so far? Not really. I’m recuperating from a mega-migraine.
3. Mascara in mini packaging — your thoughts? I agree with you. They’re never the same as the full size, but they are good for traveling.
4. Do you have a favorite bug? I delight in many of the little beasties that inhabit our gardens—butterflies, praying mantises, dragon flies, lady bugs, lizards. I even live in peace with all the bees.
5. Last thing you returned? It was a Chanel Bloom lipstick. The color was gorgeous, but it bled like crazy. Even my lipliner couldn’t keep it from staining the corners of my mouth.
6. How often do you clean the inside lining of your makeup bag? I don’t use a makeup bag.
7. Hair styles that remind you of your teenage years? Long, straight styles that have center parts or curtain bangs.
8. Are you a skin care minimalist or a maximalist? I’m a maximalist because I adjust my skincare regimen to suit my skin’s condition at any particular time. I have my basics along with a variety of supplemental products that I use on an as needed basis.

Hi Karen, I know this is not MBB poll answers, but I gotta share a new skin tint I just tried and I really like it. I recall from a past post that you were returning the Ilia skin serum. Well, my Ulta just got Fenty Beauty and while I only owned a blush from that line, I decided to try the Eaze Drop skin tint. It’s light coverage and feels light, but it has a blurring effect while still allowing your skin to come through. Just an idea since you mentioned you were shopping for a skin tint. Once in a while, if it looks grungy. Usually I will put it in a protective mesh bag to clean it in the washing machine or, occasionally, hand wash it in the sink.

We were finally going to go after a 2-year delay, but the mask mandate in airports/on planes is set to expire right before we are scheduled to go. 2. Are you having a good day so far? Well, I’m two days late (work required internet training course) but so far the week is going OK.
3. Mascara in mini packaging — your thoughts? I have had several minis that were free samples and I wasn’t impressed with them, too small, dry out too quick.

5. Last thing you returned? Workout bench. Holes for assembly of the legs didn’t alighn – not even close. Even the engineer I married couldn’t fix it.
