1. Artichokes
My local TJ’s had huge artichokes last week. No joke, they were the size of a small child’s head! I intended to share the two I bought with the fam but ended up eating both in the span of 24 hours.
I steamed them, and then I gobbled them down with a sauce made from light mayo mixed with a few drops of Trader Joe’s Balsamic Glaze. Delightful!
2. Tokyo Vice on HBO Max
I stumbled onto this show and enjoyed it enough to marathon it last week. It’s set in Tokyo in the late ’90s. An American working as a crime reporter gets caught up in the gang underworld. Trouble ensues!
3. This sushi recipe video
OK, who else out there could happily eat all the sushi? Here’s how to make it at home. No joke, I’ve watched this video SO MANY TIMES.
4. Laura Mercier Ginger blush
I had two minutes to put makeup on before a meeting this morning. LM’s Ginger blush to the rescue.

5. Nespresso Colombia Coffee
If you have a Vertuo, you have to try this flavor ASAP. It’s so good! Smooth, buttery and just yum all around.

What have you been loving lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Thank you for the reminder about Tokyo Vice. It’s one of many that I was watching (and waiting for next week’s episodes). I’ve been so spoiled by binging seasons, that I now need a list of “serials” or I forget about some. I think this really just means I need to stream less. HAHA! If you haven’t seen Severance on Apple, check it out (but not at night). I liked Slow Horses and I’m also liking Shining Girls (I don’t know if you’ll like it but you could try an ep earlier in the day). Outer Range on Amazon is pretty good. Moon Night on Disney is a bit silly and light if you like Oscar Isaac. 🙂 OK, I’ve picked 5 series. I officially need help. I hope you and the fam are doing well!!
I tried watching “Severance” but couldn’t get into it. Is it worth sticking with it?
Also, “Slow Horses” started off with a bang! Then it got really boring for me, really fast. Again, I’m guessing you would tell me to stick with it, right?
Can’t believe it’s already May! The school year is almost over.
Well, it’s hard to say! I found Severance to get better and better as the eps went on and more of the character’s lives/secrets were revealed. I was actually yelling “I hate you, Ben Stiller!” because of the suspense at one point. But it is a quirky show.
I liked Slow Horses, but I get a kick out of Gary Oldman, and British spy shows are my jam. I think if you didn’t really like it after the 3rd ep, then you probably won’t change your mind. I’d say the pace is pretty consistently slow.
I know! I’ll have both the boys at home after next week, which will be awesome. 🙂 How was Connor’s year? Were things more “normal” in terms of being in-person, etc? It’s been such a challenging year for so many students in our area. We were watching the prom the other night and I was asking who nearly all of the kids were. One of the boys barely knew any of them. I said “you just graduated last year, and these kids are only 2 years younger…” but then we all realized he really hadn’t been in school since 10th grade when these kids were middle schoolers. So surreal.
I meant to tell you that we love your chicken adobo and it’s in the regular rotation. I feel like I’ll be sad if I look back to see how long ago you posted that recipe!
Mmm, I love artichokes. I’m glad I’m not the only one who eats them with mayo mixed with balsamic. Most of my friends just do melted butter and they think I’m weird.
I need to try Tokyo Vice. I used to love watching Ken Watanabe back in the day.
I’m not sure how good my rolls would if I tried to make maki. I like the ease and simplicity of folded gimbap/kimbap.

Another thing I’ve been loving lately is when I FaceTime Dear Daughter and Nibbler hears her voice and comes over and sits and watches the call with me while purring. Guess I’m not the only one to be missing her.
I’m straight up addicted to the mayo/balsamic combo. I’m drooling just thinking about it.
Thank you for sharing Hyosun’s site with me. I’ve been in a cooking rut and now I’m inspired to make all the things. 🙂
Are you into the flavored Nespresso pods? I just got the iced coconut and it is sooo good! I just mix it with some almond milk and a stevia packet. During my maternity leave I have developed a true addiction to my nespresso machine. Today I purchased another machine so that I can bring one to work when I go back. Hopefully it will make the transition easier! BTW Nespresso has a Mother’s Day sale going on right now!
WAIT, WHAT? I had no idea there was a sale. I’m on it!
OK, so my friend and her husband are so addicted to their Nespresso that they carefully packed it up and brought it with them on a roadtrip vacation. LOL!
How are your littles doing?
The babies are good! Getting big!
The nespresso sale is mostly on machines, but I think there’s a free item if you order so many pods.
I could see myself bringing my Nespresso on a vacation, lol!
I just tried Glow Recipe Strawberry AHA serum, and I used up my sample. I like it a lot!
“Alejandro” by Lady Gaga. Not a huge Gaga fan but this is very catchy and well arranged.
Native x Baked by Melissa Vanilla Cupcake Body Wash smells so amazing! I got it “Buy one, get one 25% off” at Target.
Herb Ritts photography. I’ve always loved his work, but lately I’ve been so enthralled with his Stephanie Seymour focused shot.
Looked up Tokyo Vice last night.
Me and my partner are hooked.
Thank you for sharing it.

I am loving my Chanel blush. It’s the Joues Contrast powder blush in Rose Initial. It’s SO beautiful!!!
I loved that sushi video, Karen. I will definitely be watching that one again!
I adore these “Five Things” posts you do. It’s as satisfying as seeing what someone else carries in their purse! Ha!
And finally, I actually have motivation to organize my closet! I’ve been doing it a little at a time (because toddler!), but also doing a little bit all the time really helps keep my enthusiasm up!!!
What I am loving right now is that strawberries and asparagus are in season. Honestly, they are all I could eat right now.
