Oh, smokey eyes, I’ve missed you!
I wore shimmery, summery, taupe-y smokey eyes to take Connor to gymnastics camp and swimming lessons yesterday. I can say with 100% certainty I was the only person in both instances wearing smokey eyes, which kinda bums me out. Think of how visually interesting it would be if you could stand in a gymnastics camp line at 10 a.m. on a Tuesday and stare at a variety of smoked out lids. I may be alone in wanting this to be a thing, but whatevs!

The star of this summery smoke show is a liquid shadow by Chanel called Vastness. It’s a warm, bronzy taupe with a deliciously subtle shimmer. It used to be part of Chanel’s permanent collection but appears to be missing in action on the Chanel website, which is a bummer, because it’s SO GOOD. It’s easy to blend, has a perfect level of pigment and you don’t need much at all. I did some digging and found it on the Macy’s website, but it’s low stock, so grab it while you can!

I’m wearing Vastness with Espresso liner, a Chanel workhorse. I lined my eyes, then applied the shadow using this technique to smoke it out.
For my lips and cheeks, I went with a bright, juicy pink, Honest Beauty Liquid Lipstick in Goddess. I swiped a layer on my lips, blended it with a finger, then used the same finger to tap the lipstick onto the apples of my cheeks as blush. Then, I dabbed Ilia Lip Tint in Tahiti on my lips for a touch of shine.
The glowing base is Rose Inc Skin Enhance Tinted Serum (I wear shade 80)! It’s quickly becoming one of my favorites for sheer coverage. More on this in a few.
Hope your week is going great so far and that life is treating you well. Has anything good happened to you lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I know this is technically a smoky eye look, but I think it just looks natural and summery. The perfect amount of “put together” for either gymnastics or swimming lessons. 🙂 I hope Connor is enjoying both!! The boys’ summer activities are now “men’s league” but we still spectate. HAHA!
I bet the boys still appreciate you cheering them on in the stands. #momgoals!
Connor is a little nervous at gymnastics because she tends to not be a risk taker, but she’ll try most things at least once. When she came back from the first day of camp, I asked her what her favorite part of the day was and she said it was when then did crafts. LOL! Swimming is a different story, though. She’s a little mermaid in the pool and could happily be there for hours. 🙂 I think I see swim meets in my future, and lots and lots of driving back and forth from the pool.
Love this look!
Would you say Vastness resembles MAC’s Constructivist Paint Pot? Looks almost a bit similar.
Oh, good eye, Anna! I feel like Constructivist, at least on me, leans a little more purple and gold. The Chanel version has more bronze.
Same o, same o . . .
I hope life is treating you well, L!
I do not need another liquid shadow. I do not need another liquid shadow.
But seriously those Chanel shadows look lovely.
I’ll be interested to hear more of your thoughts on the Rose Inc tint. I ordered one of the cream blush/lip tints after reading the post last week. You never steer me wrong w your recs! In fact, I’d say they’re always exciting 😉
Aww, thanks Megan. So I’m still taking notes/researching the product and am hoping to have a review by the end of the week or early next week. 🙂
Such a pretty look!
Thanks, Susan!
I really like the Rose Inc. tinted serum which I bought after reading your first post on it (and got the discount yay!) I think the coverage is better than the Chanel Les Beiges Water Tint (while still very sheer) and it’s not quick as “sparkly.” My shade, being super fair, is 010.
Found Vastness on Canadian sites!
