There’s a big rain storm happening right now in Northern California…

Fingers and toes crossed that the electricity stays on and that flooding isn’t too bad.
On a totally frivolous non-weather related note, I did my hair and put on some makeup (mostly by Jane Iredale), and this is the most done I’ve looked in weeks. Funny how all I did this all to putter around the house on a stormy day. Ha!

Key makeup thangs include the Jane Iredale Naturally Matte Eyeshadow Kit, Glow Time Blush Stick in Enchanted and Forever Pink Lip Stain.
Oh, and I even put on perfume (it’s been ages) — Tocca Graciella! It’s a light floral that I recommend to people who don’t like heavy scents.

Welp, I just got an email from Connor’s school saying everyone needs to be picked up by 3:30 because of inclement weather. It’s the first time that’s happened in the time she’s she started going to school there, yikes.
And now the wind is starting to whip through the trees, so there’s a strong possibility that we’ll be eating bagged popcorn by candlelight for dinner tonight.
Stay dry and stay safe, OK?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I hope the rain situation isn’t too bad for you – that area looks like it might be vulnerable to mudslides in heavy rain. My area just gets street flooding when it rains a lot. From this point of view, it’s good that this area is as flat as a pancake. We’re going to be getting some of that rain on Saturday, according to current forecasts, but no one is expecting anything dangerous yet.
I drove in the thick of the storm yesterday when I dropped Connor off at dance practice and it was kind of scary!
Hope your neighborhood is spared from any flooding.
A lot of days I skip makeup. But I never skip skin care or perfume. I feel naked without a fragrance.
Did your power go out last night? Ours stayed on, but it was so windy the noises made it hard for me to fall asleep and stay asleep.
I keep checking the creek level monitors to make sure there’s no flooding again. And I worry about the neighbors giant oak tree between our two houses.
Took all the ornaments off the tree today. Dusted them off and put them in their bubble wrap and boxes. I’m gonna leave the lights on until Saturday I think.
Our power flickered a few times but managed to stay on! I was worried that our garage would flood because there’s a puddle in front of it that tends to get high but all in all we stayed dry, thank goodness.
I need to mention the top photo on this page is so pretty. Is that the view from your living room? A bedroom? I want a photo of the view on a sunny day! Lol. It looks like a painting! I might screen capture it and do a painting from it, if that’s ok with you.
BTW, I went upstairs to grab a sweater because I was cold. Instead I spent 30 minutes doing a makeup look with some new makeup and some samples I’m trying out. Never did find a sweater to wear! Lol.
Thanks for the posts that inspire me!
It’s the view from the upstairs bedroom, which allegedly belongs to me and El Hub, but for some reason it ends up being Rosie’s and Connor’s room too. LOL! We have the same view from the downstairs living room, too, but the angle is slightly different. When the sun comes out I’ll try to take some shots. I got a new camera and have been inspired to do photography again (been in a rut for oh, two years).
Tell me about this makeup you played with! I was just thinking about a video I watched with Michelle Wang on Youtube where she did luxury makeup favorites. I now want a Chanel gloss, a Natasha Denona palette and Dior concealer.
I tried a couple of new-to-me things yesterday by Tarte (the Quick Stick Shadow & Liner) and a Rise Mascara by Milk Makeup.
I rarely skip makeup, I need it to feel like myself. Not because the way it changes my looks – it does of course – but because it makes me feel put together and ready for the day, even if it just spent at home.
The pictures look beautiful, but I can imagine it being scary when you don’t know what is coming.
