So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning?
Anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes. It really depends on if I have to fuss with my hair. Second day hair significantly saves so much time! It’s kind of amazing.
2. Something that soothes you?
A shower right before bed and a hot cup of camomile tea.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday?
I would love to go back to Italy someday so I could be there longer than 72 hours!
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise?
While I have love in my heart for all animals, all these pets are my nightmare scenario for several irrational reasons, LOL! I guess I’d go with the lizard if it was an iguana, mostly because I remember reading somewhere that they eat vegetables and not other live animals.
5. Something fun you did over the weekend?
I watched a cute romantic comedy on Netflix called “Love Again” while I painted my nails. I’m all about simple pleasures these days. 🙂
Hello, my friend! You know what? I totally forgot it was Monday until about 30 minutes ago. I guess I got caught up in the spirit of the long weekend.
Hope yours has been full of family and fun, and lots or relaxation!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

5. Something fun you did over the weekend?

1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning?
15 minutes if I don’t have to shower, 30 minutes with a shower.
2. Something that soothes you?
Painting my nails.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday?
Grand Marais, MN. It’s a cute little artsy community on Lake Superior and close to the Canadian border.
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise?
Maybe a tortoise? I think some species of those eat vegetables and not crickets or worms. I had an iguana growing up and he grew so fast! My dad built him two cages. The final one was 6 ft X 4 ft X 2 ft.
5. Something fun you did over the weekend?
Went to the lake and spent time with my husbands’ family. We left the girls at home with the grandparents so I have to admit it was kind of nice not chasing them around all weekend!
Ooh boy, how did the grandparents do? I bet the girls wore them out, LOL!
Yes they were all glad to see us when we got back, that’s for sure!
My parents once came over to watch Connor, and when I came home, they were passed out on the couch, LOL.
The grandbabies really do wear them out!
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning? At least 30 minutes with all the waiting around for serums and other skincare products to sink in!
2. Something that soothes you? Doing plant chores and just being in their presence
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday? Hagi which is a little town in Japan. I went for two days on the way to another major city some years ago but mostly visited the historical sights. I’d spend more time learning about the pottery. I always regretted not bringing more than a small vase back home with me.
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise? A tortoise. They’re cute!
5. Something fun you did over the weekend? I spent 2.5 uninterrupted hours practicing on the green. When I’m in the zone, I lose all track of time and it’s just fun!
I just looked up Haji and it’s beautiful! How lucky that you got to visit. Hope you make it back someday.
I totally forgot today was Monday, too!
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning? I am slow as molasses in the morning. Not my time of day. I don’t think I’ve ever made it out of the house in the morning in under an hour.
2. Something that soothes you? Hugs from Dear Husband and Dear Daughter. The cat’s purr.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday? Hawaii, because I haven’t been there in 15 years. Japan, always Japan. I always discover and see new things every time I’m there.
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise? Had a turtle as a kid. Are geckos considered lizards? I’d have one of those as long as it ate all the spiders in the house.
5. Something fun you did over the weekend? Went for a 6.3 mile walk with Dear Husband and stopped to have coffee drinks along the way. We heard a hawk but couldn’t spy him in the trees. Sat at the bar and had drinks and dinner at a local restaurant called Camper.
Your walk sounds awesome! Glad you were able to have some fun this weekend.
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning? 20 minutes, including a cup of coffee. If I’m teleworking and have a Zoom meeting, I’ll get formally dressed up with a little makeup.
2. Something that soothes you? A hot bath with some ua body Pakalana bath salts from Hawaii and some chamomile tea on the nights I don’t shower and wash my hair.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday? The coast of Northern Ireland.
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise? I Dogs and kitties only, please!
5. Something fun you did over the weekend? I experimented and made my own “beyond beef” style vegan burgers that were just as good but with a handful of natural ingredients and very little salt.
Hi Brigid,
What did you use for your burgers? Tofu? Lentils?
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning? Less than 15 minutes. Straighten my bangs, slap on a moisturizer and sunscreen, fill in the brows a little, put on a little blush, a little bit of a lip, get dressed and go. I’m trying to look a little more polished, but I’m slow in the mornings.
2. Something that soothes you? Petting my pugs, taking a hot shower before bed, reading.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday? New Mexico, it’s zingy. I can’t explain it, the energy there is magical.
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise? I have a bearded dragon lizard, a leopard gecko lizard, and a king snake. The lizards eat crickets and the snake eats frozen mice. They’re quiet, low maintenance, they shed rarely, they’re really cool pets.
5. Something fun you did over the weekend? Nothing, I worked! I work at a hotel and it was bussssssssy!
That’s cool that you work at a hotel. What do you do?
Once again…answering these on a Tuesday😜…
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning? Too much time. My husband and I get up at 5:00 am to get everyone out the door by 7ish. Between coffee, makeup, kids, dogs….
2. Something that soothes you? In the morning…coffee. I love coffee. In the afternoon, sitting on the deck and watching my hummingbirds.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday? Jamaica ♥
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise? A tortoise…I’m too scared of the other options😬
5. Something fun you did over the weekend? We did a lot of outside yard work this weekend and caught up on laundry. Not exactly fun, but I’m glad we got it done.
Tuesday poll works, too! LOL 🙂
Sounds like you had a productive and relaxing weekend!
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning? 15 minutes.
2. Something that soothes you? Listening to good music, or reading a well-loved book for the umpteenth time.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday? San Diego (and LA and San Francisco). Also Washington, DC (didn’t have enough time to see as much of the museums as I wanted to), Kentucky (saw the Ky. Horse Park, didn’t get to see any of the farms, such as Claiborne Farm, now home to Ruffian’s grave), and the Grand Canyon.
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise? Tortoise, I think. Lizards are okay, too. I used to live in the desert as a child, and lizards don’t bother me.
5. Something fun you did over the weekend? I spent most of the 3-day weekend worrying about my hospitalized mother and visiting with her. I did take about 2 1/2 hours out of Monday to see “Barbie” because I could see that they’re taking it out of most theaters after tomorrow (Wed.), and I had not seen a movie on a big screen in over 10 years. I now qualify for the senior citizen discount!
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning?
Not as much as I’d like to spend. About 12 minutes.
2. Something that soothes you?
A long walk followed by a gin and tonic.
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday?
Hawaii. I went before I became a mom and I’d like to return with the kids.
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise?
Zoinks! Definitely NOT a tarantula!!!!! Let’s say a tortoise because they are so gentle and cute.
5. Something fun you did over the weekend?
Got a brand new truck! (Payments are not fun.)
1. On average, how much time do you spend getting ready in the morning? 30 minutes – I have super short hair & I’m pretty minimal with makeup.
2. Something that soothes you? Going for a walk, petting the cat
3. A place you’ve visited that you’d like to return to someday? Prague – it’s beautiful; Paris with my husband this time; Quebec City in the winter; Budapest since we were only there for the day
4. Which would you rather have for a pet: a snake, a tarantula, lizard or a tortoise? Ugh – none but if I had to chose – tortoise
5. Something fun you did over the weekend? Played bocce in our backyard. We had a court put in when we had the yard redone last fall
