With Valentine’s day around the corner and Taylor Swift winning the Super Bowl recently (ha), I’ve had red lipstick on my mind. What’s your go-to at the moment? Mine lately has been NARS Dragon Girl. How about you?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Ahhh-choo! I would be wearing Dragon Girl today if I didn’t have a cold. It’s been a seemingly never-ending season of sniffles here at our house. Life with a little kid, you know how it goes.
Anywho, I remember when Connor first started preschool, and I was talking to a friend who’s a nurse and has kids, and I said, “I can’t wait until kindergarten is over and her immune system builds up so that we aren’t all constantly sick from October through April,” and she laughed SO HARD for SO LONG. She then said, “Kindergarten? Try third grade.” What was I thinking?!
I’m off to go drink another cup of hot tea and sneeze a few times. Stay healthy, my friend!

MAC New York Apple is my favorite red
Hope you feel better soon!
I am Mac ruby woo girl. I have it in original bullet, the powder version , the lip liner and the reto matte liquid lipcolor
The classic Ruby Woo, in it’s retro matte format. Maybelline’s Super Stay Vinyl in Wicked is my default go to if I need something with extra long staying power.
Ruby Woo in three versions.
Clé de Peau Precious Lipstick in Red Emerald. That’s right, red emerald. When you think about it, it does make a little sense because when green is applied over a vibrant colored lipstick, it tones it down. This was a common practice back in the 50’s and 60’s. Many women had a sheer green lipstick in their stash for those times when they wanted to “tame” a bold color. CdP Red Emerald is a gorgeous soft red. It’s truly red, but a gentler shade that is good on my 80 year old lips. It’s also super hydrating and is like a lip treatment.
NARS Cruella velvet matte lip pencil. Thanks for the reminder about this lippy-I rarely wear it, but it’s so good.
Get better soon and happy Valentine’s Day.
At least kids can have the chicken pox vaccination – when I was in 3rd grade, I got the disease because the vaccination didn’t exist yet. I have some permanent scars from that, and eventually I’m bound to get shingles (I’m not sure about taking that shot since serious side effects are pretty common for it, and it takes two shots, also). I remember that the kids in my family got colds at least 3 times a year, and we also got the mumps. Didn’t get measles, though, because that shot became available when I was very little. I think we only got the flu once or twice in a 10-year period. Not sure if there was a vaccine at that time (1966 and 1968). Hope you feel better soon.
I guess my favorite red is MAC Russian Red (because it’s a blue-red). Also, I like the NARS Cruella pencil.
I was just talking with my trainer this morning, wondering what red lipstick Taylor Swift wears and then she Googled it. Lol.
I just don’t wear red lipstick that much anymore. Dear Husband doesn’t like red lipstick. I get it all over my teeth. It bleeds outside my lip line and it even ends up on my chin. Not to mention how much ends up on my clothes and other people’s clothes. Ugh.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I think it’s supposed to be Pat McGrath. They’ve been working together on her tour!
I’m feeling better today, thanks. I can actually semi-breathe out of one nostril, LOL.
Interesting, because the article my trainer pulled up said MAC Ruby Woo and NARS Dragon Girl. Lol.
If I remember correctly Dear Daughter stopped bringing home colds about the time she started junior high… or was it high school? School classrooms are petri dishes for viruses.
Hope you continue to feel better.
