I LOVE THEM! I like that they don’t hurt my hair OR my head, LOL! Because you know how sometimes when you put your ponytail up and you get a headache? That happens to me all the time, EXCEPT WHEN I WEAR SCRUNCHIES.
They also don’t leave that weird bend in my hair… You know what I’m talking about — that dent you get in the crown from a ponytail.
I’ve been thinking about them lately because I was looking around the Urban Outfitters website, and they’ve got a TON of scrunchies.
Like, what the hell, dude? I need to crawl out from under my rock, because I had no idea it became socially acceptable for hip youngsters to don scrunchies again.

Free People even has jumbo scrunchies!

Anywho, I’ve been wearing them for years, and it’s funny, but you know you’ve hit a certain point in your life when you’ve lived through trends that were totally in style, then fell out of style, and are now back in style again.
How do you feel about scrunchies? They seem to be one of those things that people either love or loathe.
#TEAMSCRUNCHIE! 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Love scrunchies and I think I’m on my third iteration of the trend now.
Except for my dalliances with much shorter hair, I’ve always owned scrunchies.
I use them as styling tools.
After I wash and condition, I hit my roots with a blowdryer for a minute or two then make Princess Leia knots on either side of my head until dry then I have a bit of curve in my thinning, lifeless hair
And then its good if I’m exercising or gardening and need to keep the hair out of the face. I can’t use elastic bands because they break my hair.
#TeamScrunchie! Never stopped loving them even after Carrie Bradshaw criticized them on that episode of SATC.
I haven’t worn them for years but I still have them and now you’ve made me want to get them out!
I never understood why they went out of style! I must be old. Oh, wait. I *am* old. But I still love scrunchies!
Scrunchies are my addiction. Big ones. Small ones. Silk ones. Velvet ones. I even embroidered some, and embellished a couple with beads.
I love scrunchies and never cared when they went out of style. Out of respect for my more *ahem* mature hair, I did switch to Silk brand silk scrunchies. Much less breakage and baby hairs around my face.
For 95% or more of my adult life I’ve worn my hair short so I have no opinion on them either way. But I just keep hearing Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and The City” screeching the line “She was wearing A SCRUNCHIE!” so somehow I thought they weren’t a good idea. Lol
Scrunchies came back in style this time around because they are good for wavy, curly and coily hair. Since a lot of people with those hair types are wearing their natural hair out now. Anything that considered better for it has become what’s trending now. I like scrunchies and want a whole collection of different colors and fabrics.
Some people on a message board were saying you know you are old when you see a trend multiple times. They were talking about color mascara. With that some people never stopped wearing it just like some never stopped with scrunchies.
They’re okay when they’ll stay in my hair. I got a couple of black velvet ones at an end-of-season winter clearance a couple of years ago. I wear them often, even though my hair is so thin now that it’s hard to get them to stay in my hair (I can twist them three times if I have to, to get them to stay on). My hair was so thick, up until I hit about 55, then the chemo treatments probably guaranteed my hair would never be what it was again. It used to annoy me to have such thick hair, but you know, that kind of hair isn’t permanent for anyone. It will get thinner as you age.
