So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Have you ever traveled by yourself?
Yes, for work. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever taken a trip by myself for fun. Hmm, I just might have to rectify that.
2. Would you rather get a tattoo or get something pierced?
Oh my goodness, get something pierced, 100%. I only have one piercing per ear, so I’d do a second set with something classic, like diamond studs, LOL.
3. Have you ever been skinny dipping?
Nah, not really my jam. With my luck, I’d run into someone from high school who I never wanted to see again.
4. What’s scarier: heights or large crowds?
Large crowds! This is a relatively new thing for me that started sometime during the pandemic.
5. How’s your hair today?
Actually pretty cute! I styled it today with a flat iron to create loose waves. I do so much better mentally when my hair is done, I’ve noticed.

2. Would you rather get a tattoo or get something pierced? I have a tattoo on my shoulder and 3 earrings in each ear. I have always wanted another tattoo, but I feel like I’m too “old” now🤪.

4. What’s scarier: heights or large crowds? Large crowds…the older I get, the more it bothers me.
5. How’s your hair today? It’s okay today. I’m wearing my natural waves…no time to do anything this morning. We have had trouble adjusting to the kids back in school and our morning routine. Plus the temperatures are going to be close to 100 all week…so the hair dryer sounds awful.

1. Have you ever traveled by yourself? I have quite a bit for work and sometimes to visit my family without DH.
2. Would you rather get a tattoo or get something pierced? Not sure, I’m considering both. I’d either get second holes in both ears or (if I can find the right artist) a watercolor bunch of lily-of-the-valley on my side.
3. Have you ever been skinny dipping? No, and I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
4. What’s scarier: heights or large crowds? Heights if I’m out in the open, but I agree that I don’t like large unmasked (and let’s be realistic they are all unmasked now) crowds.
5. How’s your hair today? Not terrible, but not great. I only used a curl cream and a little gel when I washed it yesterday. The humidity is relatively low, but higher than I expected.
1. Have you ever traveled by yourself? Yes, indeed, and I loved it. After graduating from high school, I began traveling to Europe or Asia every summer. I loved spending three months gallivanting around without having to confer with anyone about where to go, what to do, or what to see. In fact, it was having months of travel time that caused me to become interested in teaching. I loved working with ESL students, was fascinated by other languages/cultures, and loved traveling to other countries. Teaching for the win!
2. Would you rather get a tattoo or get something pierced? I have no interest in getting a tattoo, but I’d be open to getting another piercing.
3. Have you ever been skinny dipping? Yes. It was the daring thing to do when I was a teen.
4. What’s scarier: heights or large crowds? I don’t like extreme heights like the kind that are found in nature, but skyscrapers don’t bother me in the least. Being out in the open as opposed to being enclosed is what makes the difference. As for large crowds, I detest them, but they don’t scare me. I do understand, however, how they can frighten some people. I have a friend who gets crowd induced panic attacks.
5. How’s your hair today? It’s OK. My long hair is wash ‘n wear so I seldom have bad hair days.
1. Have you ever traveled by yourself? Yes, three work trips by air. I was a little intimidated at first, but quickly got into the swing of things and with each trip I pared down how much I took with me. I got through 5 days with one 21″ suitcase and one underseat bag, plus my purse. I wouldn’t ever want to take more than that by myself. I noticed most of my co-workers took at least 2 large suitcases on the 5-day trips. Taking hairdryers and other things they really didn’t need (the hotel provided hairdryers).
2. Would you rather get a tattoo or get something pierced? Not sure. Maybe a tiny butterfly tattoo. Piercing seems even more painful and bloody than tattooing, at least for small tattoos. I never had my ears pierced, and I’m not going to at this late date.
3. Have you ever been skinny dipping? No.
4. What’s scarier: heights or large crowds? Heights. I’ve always been very leery of heights. (For what it’s worth, I’ve been to the observation deck of the UT Tower. That’s quite a tall building and it did scare me to look over the edge. This was late 1970 or early 1971. Shortly after that they closed it, not due to the 1966 mass shooting, but due to all of the people who had jumped off of it after 1966. Eventually they reopened it after making a lot of changes to it.) I’ve had to put up with large crowds most of my life – my high school had 2600 students in it, for example. Though I would never want to be at a concert where they don’t have assigned seats and people start crushing towards the stage.
5. How’s your hair today? Not too good. I’ve put off coloring and cutting it for a very long time.
1. Have you ever traveled by yourself? Yes – I went to England by myself when I was 18, Ireland a couple of times, and one trip to Alaska where I rented a small plane to fly myself, and visited friends who lived there.
2. Would you rather get a tattoo or get something pierced? Something pierced, not a fan of pain, so I ‘ll skip tattoos.
3. Have you ever been skinny dipping? At my age it would be “chunky dunking” but NO.
4. What’s scarier: heights or large crowds? Large crowds.
5. How’s your hair today? Since I have no zoom meetings or plans it looks great. As soon as something comes on the schedule humidity will turn it into a mess.
