So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. What do you need to do the most: rest, get organized or connect with others?
All of the above! Right now, the thing I need most is to get organized, though. Since October, I’ve felt like I’ve been pulled along by external forces, and I don’t want to feel like that anymore. I want to feel like I’m in charge of where my life is going, you know?
2. Who would you rather hang out with: Santa Claus, Snoop Dog, the aliens (let’s assume they’re friendly) or Cupid?
Santa Claus, of course! He’s my homeboy. Together we make magic happen.
3. Which would you rather do: visit a haunted house, fly a plane, sing in front of an audience or try rock climbing on actual rocks?
Sing in front of an audience because it’s the least terrifying of all the options, ha!
4. Which makeup item would you like to restock: foundation, mascara, eyeliner or concealer?
I would LOVE to restock my makeup bag for the new year, so all the things, please. (Side note, I think I just found my new beauty project.) If I have to pick just one, then I could really use some new foundation.
5. Which skincare would you like to restock: sunscreen, serum or moisturizer?
Serum! A bottle of Skinceuticals CE Ferulic would be great.

1. What do you need to do the most: rest, get organized or connect with others? Connect with others—specifically the friends that I frequently meet for lunch or tea. Everyone is so busy with holiday prep, spending time family, and travel that we usually just take a break until after the holidays. We’ve already set a luncheon date for Jan. 7th.

4. What makeup item would you like to restock: foundation, mascara, eyeliner or concealer? I need a new mascara. I toss mine every 3 months and am just about due for a new one.

I’ll pass on the haunted house, I used to be an airline Captain so been there, done that, and you do NOT want me singing in front of an audience unless you want cats gathering. So that leaves rock climbing!
4. What makeup item would you like to restock: foundation, mascara, eyeliner or concealer? I finally got my skin where I don’t need foundation (yay). I can always use mascara as that, lip color and a little Dior shadow is about all I wear.
5. What skincare would you like to restock: sunscreen, serum or moisturizer? I restocked with the Christmas sale on my Honua skincare (I added the hibiscus booster under the youth serum – amazing!).
1. What do you need to do the most: rest, get organized or connect with others? Get organized. I’ve been saying this all year long. But I’m exhausted by the amount of stuff we have accumulated in this house over the years.
2. Who would you rather hang out with: Santa Claus, Snoop Dog, the aliens (let’s assume they’re friendly) or Cupid? The Aliens. I feel like Santa is already getting credit for all the hard work moms put in to make Christmas magic.

I visited the Tokyo Metro Museum and the kind gentleman at the exhibit let me drive the subway simulator and it was a blast.
4. What makeup item would you like to restock: foundation, mascara, eyeliner or concealer? Foundation. I really just want to find one that works with my skin, my sunscreen and really, really, really matches my skin color, undertone and all. Oh yeah, did I also mention I want it to look like skin and not makeup?
5. What skincare would you like to restock: sunscreen, serum or moisturizer? Sunscreen. I bought the new Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun Aqua-Fresh sunscreen in October. I thought it was still a bit too heavy then, but it’s been perfect for winter weather. Now I’m wishing I bought more than one tube to try. Also my favorite affordable Japanese sunscreen got reformulated and I’m a bit worried I won’t like it as much. Sigh.

All the above, (no actually I rest too much) but I know that I need to get organized. It feels mind boggling though when I live with other humans who contribute to the mess, but don’t share my same value in organization.

ummm, out of all those, maybe I would pick attempting rock climbing on small rocks.

Just mascara at this time. I’ve switched everything to E.L.F. and love their tubing mascara. I have never found a concealer that works for me.

I just bought more Pipette SPF but will need more Cetaphil deep hydration glow cream…or I may try a different one within the Cetaphil family to compare it to the one I use now.
1. What do you need to do the most: rest, get organized or connect with others? I keep thinking “rest,” but even when I get more rest I never really feel like I did several years ago, before I was diagnosed with cancer. I think aging and permanent damage from cancer (and its treatment) means I’ll never really feel normal and rested again. I definitely need to organize better – hopefully if and when I move to a new place that will be accomplished.
2. Who would you rather hang out with: Santa Claus, Snoop Dog, the aliens (let’s assume they’re friendly) or Cupid? Well, two of those are myths. Don’t care about any rap artists. So that leaves “aliens,” 👩🏻🚀which could be fascinating. I’m one of those who often wants to say, “Beam me up, Scotty, there’s no intelligent life here.” Twain had some way-out ideas about aliens in his short work, “Captain Stormfield’s Visit to Heaven.” He had given it some thought and came to the conclusion that if there is a heaven, it would have residents from other planets there, too. Of course, in his era they could not know that nothing remotely like us exists in our solar system (though there might be in other solar systems).

5. What skincare would you like to restock: sunscreen, serum or moisturizer? Sunscreen. Still haven’t found the perfect one. The Shiseido one I got on sale smells weird – not sure if it’s supposed to. Most sunscreen textures bother me, especially for using on the face.

Connect with others. My brother will be leaving this Friday, and I don’t have any friends here — they’re all 6+ hours away. Living with my 90-year-old dad has its moments, but if I see one more William Powell movie I’m going to scream.
