So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. What did you have for breakfast?
Protein smoothie with whey protein powder, greek yogurt, unsweetened almond milk and fruit (apples and strawberries). It’s easy, doesn’t require turning on the stove and it keeps me full for hours.
2. How did you do your hair today?
I’m wearing it down, with soft, barely there waves. Kinda boring but it’s practical for me because it takes about five minutes to style. Plus wearing it down helps with the migraines (I get bad ones).
3. What’s your favorite summer month?
June. It’s the end of the school year, and you feel like the whole summer is ahead of you! It’s also warm but not too hot yet. Oh, and it’s my birthday month, too. Yay, to all my cray-cray geminis!
4. What’s one thing you wear every day?
Um, besides the bare necessities like underwear and a bra? LOL! Well, my wedding and engagement rings, for one. Sunscreen. My bad cattitude… just kidding. 🙂
5. What’s your favorite hot weather drink?
An Arnold Palmer, which I didn’t discover until my 40s! It’s a drink with half ice tea, half lemonade. I like it with ice. YUM!

3. What’s your favorite summer month? Ugh – I live in the non-desert part of Texas, so the entire summer just stinks. Heat, storms, and humidity are here already (tornado season is March through June, though they can occur in any season). June is usually hot and humid; July is usually hot and dry; August is a mix of really hot, rainy, and dry weather. So I pass on this. If I lived in a decent area, probably June would be my favorite as it’s usually less hot than July and August.

Karen: do you have a “recipe” for your morning beverage?
Hi Julie!
Honestly, I kinda wing it. What would be the most helpful thing for me to write down for you? The amounts of the ingredients, or the brands/types of the protein powder, yogurt, etc.?
Happy Monday!
Karen: thank you for the reply. I’m interested in your concoction in that you said it was satisfying for a long time. Is that the yogurt, the protein or the fruit that would accomplish that? Thank you.
1. What did you have for breakfast?
Warren lemon water with Cayenne pepper and apple cider vinegar. And a Smoothie-almond milk, frozen berries and a homemade “cognitive health mix” which is: collagen powder, oats, pecans (or walnuts), chia seed, hemp hearts and flax meal. Store in fridge and add to smoothies or oatmeal.
2. How did you do your hair today?
Unwashed, pulled up in a claw clip.
3. What’s your favorite summer month?
I guess June. August is great for camping, but disappointing that school begins August 13th!!!
4. What’s one thing you wear every day?
Wedding band, two permanent bracelets and my favorite butterfly necklace.
5. What’s your favorite hot weather drink?
I’m a water girl but enjoy a dirty Dr Pepper on occasion. Here’s a really great drink, but it’s warm. Warmed almond milk with Golden Milk Tea (mix this up and store in a jar) then top it off with 1 TB coconut creamer.
