So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Loose or fitted t-shirts?
Generally, I like my tees slightly loose-y goose-y if I’m wearing them with jeans or shorts. If I’m layering with a sweater or a sweatshirt on top, then fitted.
2. What’s the oldest thing in your makeup bag right now?
Hmm, the brushes? Oh, and I’m almost embarrassed to say this out loud, but I have an ancient Nordstrom Naturals MAC palette that I bust out every so often.
3. How’s your June going so far?
It’s been very, very busy with end-of-the-year activities, dance things and whatnot. Things will kinda slow down after June 30, which I’m looking forward to.
4. How do you feel about walking around in sandals or flip flops without your toenails painted?
I like my toe nails to be painted a fun color, but I don’t stress if I don’t get around to a weekly pedicure.
5. What are you happy about right now?
Well, today’s my birthday, and I’m overjoyed to say that I’m healthy and I’m alive! Having health scares will do that to ya, I guess. I’m also happy to be surrounded by the people I love the most. Oh, and the opportunity to do something creative that’s just for me (like the Monday poll) is the icing on the cake. I’ve been on the verge of happy tears all day. It’s been a great!

1. Loose or fitted t-shirts? Loose, and preferably long.
2. What’s the oldest thing in your makeup bag right now? Oldest item I’m using now would be a NARS lipstick, maybe 3 years old? I also own stuff that’s really, really old – I was raised in the inflationary 1970s, so I don’t throw stuff away unless I have to. Seriously, I don’t think powder cosmetics are unsafe so long as they don’t change consistency or smell bad.
3. How’s your June going so far? Not great. Heat, humidity, torrential storms. And then there’s my ongoing health problems (possibly more cancer to deal with – I need additional tests/procedures to know for sure). Basically, I hate the June to October season because the weather just stinks in my area MOST of the time. $300.00 electricity bills are common due to the heat.
4. How do you feel about walking around in sandals or flip flops without your toenails painted? My toenails are in too bad a state to appear in open-toed shoes in public.
5. What are you happy about right now? Nothing, really. I guess it’s nice that my Shasta daisies are in full bloom now, and the cicadas aren’t out in force yet. Someday you should visit the south from 6/15 – 9/15 – to hear the ABSOLUTELY DEAFENING SCREECHING of the annual cicadas. Another reason why sane people won’t move to the south – and I’m only half-joking on that.
PS – the cicadas are just about in full force now. One local TV weatherman was inadvertently funny when the other day, he said “the locusts are back.” He was mixing up cicadas with locusts. They are similar, but it’s locusts which are highly destructive to crops. He said, “I like the locusts.” Making him sound both crazy and stupid. The noise cicadas make, especially in the last 2 of their 3 months above ground, is astonishingly loud and annoying. It is not in the least like cricket singing.

2. What’s the oldest thing in your makeup bag right now? GXVE lipstick in Stomp Box. My all time favorite color and now the line seems to have gone AWOL after shifting from online to Sephora sales (but Sephora not showing anything in stock lip wise under than one half price red color).
3. How’s your June going so far? I retired June 7 after working full time 49 years, so that’s good, still getting my routine readjusted (husband is 43 so he’ll be working a while 🙂
4. How do you feel about walking around in sandals or flip flops without your toenails painted? I never paint my toes, I’m lucky to get nail polish on once a month.
5. What are you happy about right now? No commute into the city for work, just lounge time with coffee and rescue pup (OK, and those emails about the next draft from the publisher that sent me the advance for my 8th book 🙂

It’s so hard to choose….fitted feels neat but loose feels relaxed and free. I’ll have to go with fitted.

The oldest thing in my makeup collection is an eyeshadow brush I bought about 15 years ago. It was the first brush I’d ever purchased. And I remember being really proud to have it. lol

It’s going well. Can’t really complain.
4. How do you feel about walking around in sandals or flip flops without your toenails painted?
My toenails aren’t painted right now and I feel good about it. lol I can never decide on a color very quickly.
5. What are you happy about right now?
Being off from work today. 🙂

1. Loose or fitted t-shirts? Slightly loose, semi-fitted, body skimming. I don’t love anything too fitted these days.
2. What’s the oldest thing in your makeup bag right now? Uhm, I still have the original Urban Decay Naked palette. And it’s still one of my favorites when it comes to colors.
3. How’s your June going so far? Can’t complain. Dear Husband is away on a business trip. Dear Daughter is studying for finals and Quals. Fingers crossed she gets to move on from this stressful year. She’ll be popping in for a night or two at the end the month so I’m happy. (Will I ever stop missing her or worrying about her. I doubt it.)
4. How do you feel about walking around in sandals or flip flops without your toenails painted? I don’t wear sandals or flip flops out because I don’t like my feet getting that dirty. And I stopped painting my toe nails ages ago.
5. What are you happy about right now? I’m looking forward to seeing Dear Daughter at the end of the month. And the usual things, the cat, Dear Husband, my good friends. The flowers in bloom, the blue sky, being able to walk downtown to the Venetian cafe for a cappuccino, etc.

Feeling grateful after a rough March.

I lovevto paint my toenails all the vivid colors I don’t on my fingernails
5. What are you happy about right now?
Happy to take walks out in nature and see the beautiful flowers blooming. I love fresh herbs and planting strawberries. Happy that everyone is my family is doing well and I’m looking forward to meeting my niece’s new baby girl! Happy to be here

Fitted. I’m short and squatty so a loose fit only makes me look boxier.

Oh dear, I don’t wanna address that. I think there’s some eyeshadow and/or blush dating back to 2014. Urgh.

Off to a good start. My brother was able to visit for a week as I was recuperating from minor surgery. His days were spent telecommuting but Dad and I enjoyed his company. He and Dad share a birthday and they were able to celebrate it together.

I’ll do it when the feet are hot. Anyone looking at my feet will have to witness my bunions so I pity the fool.

Glad I dodged a bullet, health wise. And very grateful to the surgeon.

As menopause wreaks havoc on my body, I have no need for fitted anything.

Wow! I would say some Urban Decay mineral powder.

Meh. I am not getting enough done before the kids are released from school for the summer.

I am doing it now and it looks awful. I prefer a proper pedicure.

You are correct….a health scare most definitely changes your perspective. Every birthday (regardless of the number of candles) should be celebrated.
