So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. Are smokey eyes dated?
I feel like 10 years ago you could get away with wearing a full-on smokey eye in the middle of the day to go buy a loaf of bread and it was totally not a big deal, right? Because wearing ALL THE THINGS was very much the look of that era. Now? Eh, maybe not so much. That said, I still think that for certain events, a smokey eye still looks classic and chic, but it totally depnds on what you pair it with.
2. How early is too early?
Anything before 5:30! 5:30 is no problem, though.
3. Do you enjoy driving?
If I’m just scooting about town, then I don’t mind it. If it’s anything longer than two hours on the highway, then nope.
4. Are you a Swiftie?
I like a handful of Tay-Tay’s songs but I’m not a hard core Swiftie at all.
5. Something you would love to have for dinner?
Assuming I didn’t have to cook it? Garlic noodles with shrimp would be great!

1. Are smokey eyes dated?
No, but I wouldn’t wear really dark shadows during the day. Midtone grays or browns should be fine.
2. How early is too early?
7:30 AM. I used to start my workday at 7:30 when I was 23-28 or so years old. I’m too much of a night owl now, and I also have some insomnia problems.
3. Do you enjoy driving?
Only when I’m almost the only car on the road (like early on a Sunday). I’ve been hit too many times, and the smartphone has only made distracted driving worse. Plus, now almost everyone drives 80 MPH or more on highways, and there are a LOT of big trucks out there. I won’t enter a highway at all.
4. Are you a Swiftie?
No. While I’ve heard a fair amount of her music, I haven’t heard a single song that I thought was worth keeping in my collection. She’s so lucky she never had to work a real job, and her father helped her enormously in getting her career started as a teenager. Songs about men who “done them wrong” get tedious after a while. Adele also made her career doing that (and also didn’t have to work, but at least she was not born upper-middle class).
5. Something you would love to have for dinner?
Prime Ribeye. I sometimes cook Choice Ribeye for myself when I can get it on sale.
1. Are smokey eyes dated? It seems like people barely wear anything on their eyes anymore…except false eyelashes. I think it’s dated. That being said people should wear what they want.
2. How early is too early? Before 7🤪. We get up at five all week.
3. Do you enjoy driving? No. I have anxiety in the car.
4. Are you a Swiftie? I wouldn’t call myself a Swiftie, but I like her. My daughter loves her. I do not understand all the hate some people throw at her. Jealousy? She seems like a smart business woman and she puts on quite a show for her fans.

Maybe super-heavy smokey eye with biiiig cat eye liner. (I call it ‘catwalk makeup’.) But I don’t think it will ever completely go out of style- it’s a classic.

I’m not a morning person at all, so 8 am is pushing it for me.

No. I have too much anxiety.
4. Are you a Swiftie?
Like you, I like a few of her songs, but I’m not a big fan. I’m starting to get tired of hearing about her personal life and it’s only going to get worse now that she’s engaged.

Mediterranean. My favorite.

Apparently they’re out of style. I’m looking forward to the days when wet glittery looks are out.

Yes, usually. As long as I can pick the tunes and don’t encounter too much traffic…

I don’t know… I didn’t think so but I’m beginning to think so… I personally don’t do smokey eyes anymore because it’s not as easy to pull off as my eyes are getting hooded a bit, with age. Also it’s more of a nighttime look and I don’t really go out at night anymore really.
