So…what is the Monday Poll?
Excellent question! It isn’t, contrary to its name, an actual poll, like with little clicky buttons. It’s just a list of more or less random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for the past quadrillion years (since 2007).
1. What are the chances of you wearing a bright lip this week?
Very high! I’d actually say 100%. I’ve been doing bright reds and pinks lately and have been totally into it.
2. A makeup trend that you were very invested in back in the day?
Whatever eyebrow trend that was happening at the moment was my jam! I used to love a skinny brow with a frosty highlight on the brow bone back in the day.
3. How often do you buy foundation?
These days, rarely. I bought a tinted moisturizer, like, a year ago.
4. If you had the time and the energy to do a full-on “everything and the kitchen sink” makeup look every day, would you?
I love the way full-on makeup looks in pictures, but even if I did have the time to do it, I probably wouldn’t in this season in my life. I’m just not used to the feeling of wearing that much makeup on my face anymore.
5. What type of eyeliner is the easiest for you to do?
Hmmm, well, the easiest for me these days is doing a soft line on the upper lashes done with powder eyeshadow and an angled brush.

1. What are the chances of you wearing a bright lip this week?
None. I need to get my teeth fixed first, before wearing anything that draws attention to my lips.
2. A makeup trend that you were very invested in back in the day?
As far as purchasing is concerned, eyeshadow palettes. I don’t use them enough to justify buying any more.
3. How often do you buy foundation?
When I can catch a good deal on an expensive brand I haven’t tried before, I usually do. About twice a year, sometimes three.
4. If you had the time and the energy to do a full-on “everything and the kitchen sink” makeup look every day, would you?
No, I don’t think so. There are always higher priorities for me, and I’m too old for it to make much difference.

Powder liner on a brush.
1. What are the chances of you wearing a bright lip this week?
Decent. I’m wearing a navy-and-white look later in the week, which might call for a red lip.

Really groomed brows. Not necessarily skinny, just groomed within an inch of their lives.
3. How often do you buy foundation?
Once a year during the fall Sephora sale.
4. If you had the time and the energy to do a full-on “everything and the kitchen sink” makeup look every day, would you?
No. I just don’t feel like my middle-aged face looks good with ‘all the things’.
5. What type of eyeliner is the easiest for you to do?
I am terrible at eyeliner, so I just skip it these days.
1. What are the chances of you wearing a bright lip this week? Zero. As we move into fall, I prefer softer, more muted tones.
2. A makeup trend that you were very invested in back in the day? 1960’s Twiggy lashes. We used black liquid or cake eyeliner and a very fine brush to paint on little lashes under our lower lashes and then we’d apply false lashes on the top. We’d pull it all together with a coat of black mascara. It gave our eyes a doll like appearance.
3. How often do you buy foundation? Typically, once a year. If I’m going to be traveling somewhere where the climate is much different, I’ll might pick up a foundation that will be more suitable.
4. If you had the time and the energy to do a full-on “everything and the kitchen sink” makeup look every day, would you? Nope. I love makeup, but I prefer more natural enhanced look—me, but better.
5. What type of eyeliner is the easiest for you to do? I love a good, long-wearing, silky eyeshadow in a deep color such as black, espresso, chocolate brown, or deep plum. I love the look of it smoked along my eyelashes.
1. What are the chances of you wearing a bright lip this week? Absolutely none
2. A makeup trend that you were very invested in back in the day? I fell for the first Pat McGrath shadow palette. FOMO. I’ve since tossed it.
3. How often do you buy foundation? Rarely. I usually throw it out because it goes bad before I use it up.
4. If you had the time and the energy to do a full-on “everything and the kitchen sink” makeup look every day, would you? No. I’ve always had a minimalist hand with my makeup.
5. What type of eyeliner is the easiest for you to do? Urban Decay 24/7 pencils remain my go to liners.
1. What are the chances of you wearing a bright lip this week?
Zero percent. I’ve been sticking with sunscreen, tinted moisturizer and SPF lip balm when I venture out.
2. A makeup trend that you were very invested in back in the day?
White matte powder face with a matte red lip. I left a trail of Goth Dust everywhere I went.
3. How often do you buy foundation?
Maybe once or twice a year. I’ve not settled on one after moving to a warmer, more humid climate and then going barefaced for a year.
4. If you had the time and the energy to do a full-on “everything and the kitchen sink” makeup look every day, would you?
Maybe? I now live with my elderly dad who’d be sure to comment. Otherwise I’m feeling ready to experiment again.
5. What type of eyeliner is the easiest for you to do?
Definitely using eyeshadow and a liner brush. So simple.
