Mine is watching cheesy Lifetime movies on TV (click here for a gigantic database!).
Every time I do it, I know I’ve lost two hours I’ll never get back, but it’s relaxing and strangely recharges my batteries. One of my favorite things in the world is chilling out on the couch in front of a movie like Co-ed Call Girl (starring Tori Spelling!). For those two hours, my cares and responsibilities just float away. Forget cleaning the bathroom or bettering myself; sometimes my brain craves happy endings and pureed mush (the woman-in-peril ones are my faves!). 🙂
What’s your guiltiest pleasure? Please share in the comments.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Happy Sunday!
My guiltiest pleasure is watching CSI Las Vegas marathons with the bf while wearing our pj’s and eating ice cream/kettle corn and napping in between episodes 🙂
Hi Vanessa H,
Happy Sunday to you, too! 🙂
Guiltiest pleasure……hmmm. Sitting on the sofa eating toast with cinnamon and brown sugar spread while watching House MD. Extremely fulfilling.
Hi Allilanta,
Oh, yah … that sounds like satisfying way to spend some time. 🙂
Hi Karen….I’m guilty when I stay in front of PC with a big box of chocolate ice cream and I play my favorite game or watching some serial movie like Desperate Housewives (still waiting for the new series).
.-= Tavia’s last blog post… My favorite articles of the week: new fall 2009 collections & new upcoming makeup products to try out =-.
Hi Tavia,
Chocolate and fooling around in front of the computer = heaven!
Mine is the Lifetime movies too . . . favorites are the super corny dramedies (like “Lucky Seven” and “A Christmas Wedding”), but I also love the suspense type (like “Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?”).
Hi Hyzenthlay,
Ha! I haven’t seen any of those … gotta look for them on the Lifetime Movie Network!!
Hope you’re having a nice weekend so far. 🙂
It has to be watching those reality shows like keeping up with the kardashians or tori and dean 😛
Hi Patti,
I like those shows, too. Are you gonna watch the series with Khole and Kourtney in Miami?
I am a total “WB” channel addict. I love Gossip Girl and was a huge Buffy/Angel/Reaper fan 🙂 My age and maturity level do not match when it comes to TV hahaha!
.-= Kelly’s last blog post… Vampy Varnish RSS Feed Issues? =-.
Hi Kelly,
I am a huge Buffy/Angel fan, too.
Have you seen this clip of Angel dancing? It always makes me laugh.
Mine is watching Lord of the Rings videos on Youtube. I am OBSESSED with those movies, and I could watch them over and over again.
.-= Luinae’s last blog post… Basic Beauty Essentials =-.
Hi Luinae,
I have a few movies I could watch over and over again, too. I can’t even count how many times I’ve watched The Wedding Singer. 🙂
chocolate thunder cupcake from jilly’s cupcakes..hheeeaaaavvvvveeenn! and watching legally blonde about once a week:]
Hi Molly,
Chocolate cupcakes…drool!
Ha, I love Reese in that movie.
:+)
We don’t have TV so I get my guilty pleasure time from watching my Sex and the City dvd’s on the laptop while knitting!
😉
(thank you for your great site!)
.-= Mrs. Schwartz’s last blog post… Vogue Knitting Fall 2009 =-.
Hi Mrs. Schwartz,
Oh, I love knitting. I don’t do it as much as I’d like to, but I probably should do it more because I find it so relaxing. I can’t do much though — just scarves and that’s it!
mine is recording episodes of cheesy soaps- think young and the restless and watching them on a lazy saturday morning with chips and salsa, in ratty PJ’s ! :o)
Hi RZ Sokol,
Fun! 🙂 It’s been years since I’ve watched soaps. I used to be a Days of Our Lives girl myself. My college roommates and I would try to schedule our classes so we could be home in time for our show, LOL!
Oh jeezs, definitely TV (Gossip Girl, What Not to Wear, America’s Best Dance Crew, and last night I watched Toddlers & Tiaras *cringes*).
.-= Marilyn’s last blog post… Back from vacation… =-.
Hi Marilyn,
Ohmigosh, I’ve seen the commercials for that show and I have to admit that I’ve been wanting to watch it!
I have a few bad TV shows on *cringe* list — Cheaters and Blind Date.
spending way too much time on the computer!
Hi Heather,
LOL, I’m guilty of that, too!
Eating something extremely cheesy (pizza, cheesecake) or crunchy (potato chips, plantain chips) and watching Dexter or Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Hi Bellalina,
Funny you should mention cheese. The other morning I woke up and the first thing I wanted to do was eat a huge block of cheese for breakfast, LOL!
I love the food network shows! and I don’t even cook much! lol
Hi Debbie,
Those are so entertaining … but watching them makes me so hungry!
Staying in my pj’s all day! And sitting down with a big hunk of cheese, crackers and a glass of wine.
.-= Stef’s last blog post… We will always heart John Hughes =-.
Hi Stef,
Add a hunk of chocolate and some SATC DVDs you’ve got my idea of a perfect day. 🙂
My guilty pleasure is most definitely House marathons, watching Monk or taking serial naps with Zena. I’ve seen every episode from every season but I’m obsessed with the show. I saw a trailer for the upcoming 6th season and that was a baaaaaaad idea. I want the new episodes NOW. I’m going through new episodes of House withdrawals.
Oh yea, we can’t forget my affair with Nutella. The stuff is heaven in a jar. I’ve been Nutella-crazy since I was about a year old in Germany. 🙂
Hi Kate & Zena,
Nutella tastes so heavenly! LOVE IT!
I have a serious addiction to the Real Housewives of Atlanta. It’s horrible, but I LOVE the drama.
Hi Xtina,
I’ve tried watching a few of those eps but I just can’t get into it. I used to love the Orange County wives… I wonder what ever happened to them.
guiltiest pleasure has got to be pigging out while watching a movie. my favorite snacks to pig out on? Ice cream and brownies! MMM!!!
Hi Janeve Yeh,
Girl, I love a warm brownie topped with vanilla ice cream… YUMMO!
geez where do i start? i have to say it was watching ‘Girls Next Door’ – i so wanted to hate them but if anything I miss watching that show. i watch Kendra’s show and even Bridget’s travel show but it’s just not the same.
recently – Real Housewives-Jersey – they were the best. Watching ATL wives now but not the same…
so a marathon of either show with a tub of dreyer’s cookie and cream while my hubby is out and the baby is sleeping is my current fantasy hahahaha!
Hi Lexi,
I ended up liking the girls, too. Although their relationship was very unconventional it seemed like they really cared for one another.
Karen,
I also watch some questionable TV (I frequent E!, Bravo, and VH1). However my guiltiest pleasure of all is that I read controversial/banned books (Lolita, Catcher in the Rye, Clockwork Orange are all favs). Right now I’m reading Naked Lunch and yes it’s a TRIP and I’ve just started!
Hi Tania,
Speaking of banned books, September is banned books month! Woo hoo!
Mine has to be reading all of my favorite beauty/fashion mags while painting my toes with a fabulous nailcolor and eating chocolate . .. or cheesecake . . .
Hi Michelle,
That’s one of my guilty pleasures, too. 🙂
Hmm. I can’t say I feel guilty doing anything that gives me pleasure 😛 I clicked on that Angel dancing clip 😀 too good. Watching endless TV show marathons or watching entire seasons in a day makes me feel pretty useless though. CSI, ANTM, Psych, The Office, L&O, Dexter…
.-= Stephie’s last blog post… Stila Covertible Colors =-.
Hi Stephie,
Ha! I love that clip!
Le sigh, I always wanted Angel and Cordy to get together…
Godiva Chocolates….mmmmmm, yum. Do I really need to spend that much money on chocolate? No, but it tastes so good when I do. 🙂
Hi Nancy,
At least the dark chocolate’s supposed to be good for you. That’s my justification. 🙂
That is so hilarious, I love it!
.-= Kelly’s last blog post… Vampy Varnish RSS Feed Issues? =-.
Hi Kelly,
🙂 It’s one of my favorites!
Remember Darla from the show? I just saw her in a Lifetime movie, LOL!
Oh, Kate&Zena you are reading my mind! House& Monk &Nutella( food of the gods I tell you), jut add internet- those are my obsessions. And my guiltiest pleasure is staying awake way in to the night- 4 am,just staying home, listening to music, exchanging night for day when ever I can (and don’t have to wake up in 7 am…)
I waste way too much time on lolcats…
.-= Citrine’s last blog post… Revlon Revlon Illuminance Crème / Cream Shadow =-.
Hi Citrine,
I LOVE that site! It always makes me laugh. 🙂
Eating vast amounts of haagen daz ice cream and watching a lifetime movie like “killer hair”. defiantly one of the best shows, it combines fashion and murder mysterys! hahaha 🙂
Hi Lily,
That sounds totally up my alley.
What’s your favorite Haagen Daz flavor? I live for the Dolce de Leche Frozen Yogurt.
Kirkland.Garlic.Dill.Pickles.
Holy mother of gawd, those are delish!
I’ll eat a whole tub/jar in a day.
Get them at costco <3
Hi Kailey,
I heart garlic-y anything. Have you ever made roasted garlic in the oven? Hello, delish!
Reading all of these comments is making me really hungry.
Sonja–
I’m guilty of staying up until 4 AM too. I’m trying to retrain my brain to take my insomnia meds earlier but my brain doesn’t register it until 4 AM. What am I going to do when college starts and I need to wake up at noon? 🙂
I try to limit my net time because Zena is absolutely annoying if ignored too long but I zoom around for a few hours a day. She will literally nip your jean legs and bark like a nutjob if ignored too long!
Yeah I’ve heard about their spinoff, I think I will definitely give it a try-
Hi Patti,
I think it starts sometime this month. I gotta remember to tivo it!
How’s your Sunday going so far? I just got back from lunch… think I’m going to the mall soon to return some jeans and go window shopping.
My other guilty pleasure (aside from knitting) is watching my favorite Food Network, and occasionally Law and Order, CSI.
That’s only after my kids are asleep (they watch their shows during the day), AND if my husband is NOT playing Gears of War 2 on his XBOX online with his friends (at night). Then it’s just knitting for me
Hi Anna,
Cool! What sorts of knitting projects are you working on right now?
I’m pretty limited in terms of knitting ability (I can only make scarves, LOL), but I really enjoy it.
Mine is watching tv show marathons (grey’s anatomy, house, ANTM…) and eating popcorn with m&m’s and drinking wine! = HEAVEN
Tania – good luck! I could NOT get through naked lunch; I gave up halfway through.
Hi Tiffany,
Popcorn and M&Ms are SO right together.
I gotta have the peanut M&Ms, though! No plain for me, bluh!
I know! The stuff is godly! I can’t ever describe the flavor to anyone who hasn’t tasted it other than Heaven in a Jar. The perfect mix of hazelnut and chocolate-ly goodness. My mom found it in (then) West Germany and found the confection shut me up (this coming from a baby that used to spit out her binkies after licking off the honey in the pediatric ward).
We couldn’t find it for years in the states except at high-end specialty stores. We eat it out of the jar with spoons when we get at the store! It remains a delicacy and not a staple so my mom and I don’t tire of it. 🙂
I gotta have the plain ones to go with popcorn! BTW, this was a great post – I loved reading everyone’s comments. Also, I am so jealous you get to watch blind date. I used to LOVE to watch that and elimidate, but we don’t get either show here anymore 🙁
I will admit to occasionally indulging myself in a Lifetime… BUT my much guiltier pleasure is watching “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” I don’t know why I do, I find them all so grating! But every time I’m home alone I find myself checking if there are any new episodes on demand 😮 what is wrong with me??
Oh, and if anyone ever leaves a batch of freshly made chocolate chip cookies unguarded while I’m around… well, let’s just say there won’t be many left for everyone else. In fact, it’s probably safe to say there won’t be ANY left for everyone else.
My guilty pleasure = online window shopping/online shopping/window shopping.. and plain old SHOPPING!
I will spend hours upon hours just browsing random things I don’t need but end up wanting for no reason 🙁
When I had cable, I could spend a Saturday afternoon watching Lifetime movies. So addicting! That and QVC.
I guess my guilty pleasure has been True Blood – both the movie & the books. As you know, I am addicted & I can’t wait for tonight’s episode.
.-= Marisol’s last blog post… I heart Shu Uemura =-.
Chocolate, Coca~Cola Slurpees !!!!!!! Oh, of course, the most important one yet, makeup shopping, specifically Guerlain Rouge G Lipsticks, TOO DIE FOR !
My favorite guilty pleasure is watching Toddlers and Tiaras on TLC. It just feels WRONG. But I can’t turn away!
My fave Lifetime-type movie is My Stepson, My Lover. The accents, the acting is so bad I can’t help but love it.
Reading my Lucky Mag while watching my grand -children play in the sand.
I make a list of products i need to get!
Happy Monday!
Michele
Watching Reality TV Shows, and Weeds and Entourage Marathons with my boyfriend in our PJ’S.
I love just mindlessly surfing the internet to!
Mine is watching Marathons of The Housewives of Orange County.
I’m completely addicted to cartoons, and my biggest guilty pleasures are Spongebob, Jimmy Neutron, and Scooby Doo. I’ll probably keep watching when I finish college.
Right now sadly it’s dutch crust bread from Safeway (I know, it’s so bad for me) and that “Hitched or Ditched”. Actually, most of the CW’s progamming qualifies as Guilty Pleasure. They should just become the GP network, officially.
Oh I’ll tell you what WASN’T a guilty “pleasure”– “Obsessed”. I popped that into the DVD player and was ready to see Beyonce bring the beatdown while Idris looked all suited-up and HOT. However damn thing was slow as frozen molasses, poor Ali Larter was just not sexy enough, and Beyonce’s Annie-meet-Dereon weave acts better than she does. It wasn’t awful enough to be enjoyable, but not good enough to merit my rental price, either.
Now, if Beyonce played the stalker in full Sasha Fierce mode? You’ve got yourself a great “bad movie”.
[end rant]
