Oh, Dior … glow on with yer bad self! Your new 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Crush Glow ($58) makes soft, shimmery summer looks that much easier to create.
One of seven items in the Addicted to Dior Summer 2010 collection (available next month), Crush Glow’s shadows radiate a gentle luminosity that totes reminds me of pearls.
It’s a break from the bold and frosty metallic finishes that have graced past Dior shimmers, but that doesn’t mean it’s a shadow snooze-fest. Dior may have turned down the dial (not all the way though) on the shimmer, but it’s still sure to make those lovely eyes sparkle. 🙂
Dior maintained a classic feel with Crush Glow by going with five traditional summer eyeshadow colors in gold, coral, pink, taupe and bronze-brown. No color boundaries are broken here, for sure, but I’m cool with that because of how wearable these neutrals are — think work gigs, dinners with the girls, date nights, or even weekend family shindigs (or hootenannies).
At $58, Crush Glow ain’t tight budget material, but its flexibility, soft and creamy texture (VERY blendable) and excellent, all-day wear time just may save this quint from The Land of Luxury Oblivion.
Six degrees of Metallica?
Last night El Hub and I explored the old part of downtown here in Novato looking for a place to grab a bite to eat. This area isn’t exactly a celebrity hot spot, yet we think we spotted Metallica front man James Hetfield walking (with a heavy metal swagger, of course) down the sidewalk in front of the restaurant where we had dinner!
El Hub: Hey, is that James Hetfield?!
Me: Uhhh, YES! It totally is! I recognize his tats!
El Hub: Wow… I mean WOW!
Me: Omigod, omigod, omigod! I should go chase him down… but I can’t run in these platforms, AARRRGGHHH!
LOL! Metallica hails from the Bay Area, so I suppose it wouldn’t be too big of a stretch to see a band member up here. He’s a little taller and skinnier than I remember from those old school Metallica vids.
Damn… I’m still kicking myself for not trying to get his autograph. Gah! I wish I’d worn tennies to dinner.

I think it is. He owns so much land and it covered an area with walking trails. People were pissed because he put a fence up to block the trails. But I think he’s given a few hundred acres back or something. I think he literally owns thousands of acres there!

I do- Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but they still fade away! Only if i apply them wet they seem to stay on…
Wow, hmm. Too Faced is pretty darn good, too. Do you have very oily lids? It might help to blot w/a tissue first before applying the primer.
I am surprised to discover that I am taller than Kirk Hammett – guitarist from Metallica. I’m only 5’5 so I can imagine that he’s either the same height as me or 5’4? I’ve ran into him a couple of times. My friend’s brother’s band was big in the SF Speed Metal scene.
Loving this palette btw…I want it solely for the middle coral/melon shade!

Sadly, no I wish I could say he was so cool and modest but as he was standing in front of me he didn’t even look at me and just kept talking to my friend’s cousin. Girl, I’m actually 5’4 3/4ths so I just say 5’5 because it’s close enough. Thanks you just reminded me to straighten up my posture!

That’s my biggest gripe with Sephora – they seem to be the last to receive new collections!

Great palette, right amount of shimmer….expensive but these combinations from Dior are generally worth the price as I can see myself using all of them.
A perfect combination of colour, although I would prefer maybe one matte shade. I usually don’t feel comfortable with all shimmery colour… But I’ll definitely give it a swatch when it comes out at my Dior counter.
P.S. I have Ever Hip lipstick on hold for me at a slightly further MAC counter… yayy!!!

Christian Dior keep repeating themselves. summer 2010 5-colour palette is very similar to 440 sunset cafe palette and to the 569 golds palette. it is so boring when cosmetic companies release every season a “new” makeup line with products similar to past makeup lines. why would i buy the new summer 2010 5-colour palette when i have already bought sunset cafe and golds?mac cosmetics, chanel, ysl etc do exactly the same. they change the packaging a little bit to attract consumers when in fact they sell the same product all over again.
I wish I could afford that because it looks great. And yay for celebrity sightings!

Second of all, I felt super lucky when I stumbled across your blog just a few months ago. I mean, make up AND cats? But the fact that you actually recognized James Hetfield (!!) based on his tattoos, is just insanely admirable to me. I’m a huge fan and super jealous. I haven’t been here in so long! Oh how I’ve missed this blog. I feel like I must have this set, but it’s going to be hard for me to justify. I currently have MAC Woodwinked and Amber Lights… They’re not exactly the same but I feel like the colors may be to close for me to drop 6 tens on the Dior palette.

Can you show us how to use the coral and pink eyeshadows? I have brown eyes, and can never figuret how to use the pink color that comes with mo Dior quints. I keep getting the feeling that they make me look like I have pinkeye…but I really want to make the pinks work, just not sure how? Also,are colors on the warm side?
I think I should be able to find similar colors from my stash, but nevertheless, I believe the quality of the shadows, just like other Dior Quints I have, is just superb, and that alone is a good enough reason to get it! Right? 🙂
