Leave it to Chanel to make baby poo/army green into a nail polish that looks downright effin’ cool to me. Last year, they stormed my beaches with another gorgeous green, Jade, forever and always my five-star general 
of Chanel polishes, but the three shades in the new limited edition Les Khaki de Chanel collection ($25 each) are bringing up the rear.
I like it when beauty products appear to combine contrasting concepts, and I think the rugged, outdoorsy elegance of Khaki Vert (a creamy army green), Khaki Rose (a creamy, rosy brown) and Khaki Brun (a creamy, cool brown) just…works.
These are well-groomed thugs wearing tuxedos, y’all, and I hope to see them gracing fingers and toes this fall.

Do you remember Essie’s Sew Psyched ($8) from their fall 2010 collection? Doesn’t Khaki Vert bear a strong resemblance to it, but perhaps with a touch more yellow?
Like other Chanel lacquers I’ve tried, these three feel thicker than the average nail polish and consequently take a little longer to dry (excellent coverage and durability; two coats deliver opaque color with nary a streak). They won’t rock everyone’s boat, but girls (and boys) who like Chanel and don’t want to go the glitter route may want to give them a try… I tool around town in camo cargo pants and have an unabashed weakness for khaki green, so these are right up my alley. I was thinking the exact same thing. And that Khaki Rose is a pretty good dupe of his nose in the picture. First MAC and now Chanel? Tabs is going to be busy with his legal battles! 🙂
I didn’t think I’d like the Khaki Green at all, but you’re right… they’re very elegant on your nails. I hate that they’re called Khaki though, because it’s one of my have-to-think-how-to-spell word (like fuchsia).
Oh, and Karen, about Project Runway… the Gretchen and Ivy Mean Girls Club is really spoiling this season for me. The sooner the two of them go the happier I’ll be!
Me too. Something tells me they’ll be keeping Gretchen around until the end because she brings the drama. 🙁
Who is your fave designer so far?
I think Andy has done some really nice work and Valerie seems very talented, too. I don’t know, compared to other seasons nobody’s really “wowing” me this time out. It’s as if they cast the season for drama instead of talent….
Personality-wise, Casanova cracks me up and Peach was a real sweetheart, I’ll miss her.
LOL, I totally love that photo of Tabs! Not so sure about the collection, though — I really like the colours, but somehow I don’t feel like they’d jive with my skintone. On the other side of the spectrum, though, they look absolutely fab on yours! 🙂
Loves them all, now will I be able to purchase these at bloomingdales, and nordstrom or only at chanel boutiques. Now could you tell me why you have not been invited to fashion wk, I think you more than qualify and should be there fall and winter.. im not trying to be rude but some other people get invited and I have no clue /idea why, they are not qualified to be at nyfw based on the quality and magnitude of their work, and they don’t come close tobeing as greatas you are…I also agree with you on gretchen, who made her wannabe in house resident tim gunn. Seriously where does she find the time to sew her clothes, cause she’s so busy worrying about everyone else…last thing you should get some fangs, some real good as close to authentic ones that you can find and run your errands wearing them and video tape it, just like you did when u was cat lady..

Yeah… I still can’t get past the baby diaper quality of Khaki Brun. It’s just…yuck. But Vert is awesome and I’d totally wear it.
