Wet N Wild Color Icon Kit in Sugar Plumb Fairy
I wonder how much it costs to mail a letter to the North Pole. I ask because I’d really like to thank Santa for releasing these Wet N Wild Color Icon Kits ($5) for the holidays.
Being just $5 each and coming with six coordinating shadows and a mini-eyeliner, the four kits give new meaning to the words, “travel friendly.”
Well, the liner’s nothing to write home about. I mean, it’s nicely pigmented, but it feels a little rigid against my skin. The shadows, on the other hand — oh, the shadows! Rich, bold and just as buildable as the the company’s fab Color Icon Singles.
Again, these are just $5, WOW!
Of the four kits — Sugar Plum Fairy, Golden Goddess, Snow Sprite and Night Elf — I’ve tested two of them so far.

Sugar Plum Fairy
Some of the shadows are fluffier than the others, like the ones in Sugar Plum Fairy. I keep getting the lighter shades all over the place, but for $5 I’ll learn to deal.
If you’ll be Xmas shopping for any friends and relatives who like colorful eye makeup this year, consider adding these to your list.
PRICE: $5
AVAILABILITY: Drugstores everywhere, yea!
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A-
TV shows I do NOT want to be on…

At the top of my list: I Shouldn’t Be Alive. Fun show to watch, but I wouldn’t want to be there. Did your plane crash in the woods? Mauled by a grizzly bear? Stranded on a desert island? The show interviews survivors of life/death events, and I’m always like OHMIGAWD! “You cut through your own leg with a pocket knife!?” Just kill me now!
If you ever need an excuse to get out of camping, just watch a few episodes. Trust me. Something will come to you.
Other shows on my list: I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant (seriously?), Fear Factor (there always seems to be some sort of worm component) and Jersey Shore (er, no).
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I want these so, so bad, and I can’t find them anywhere : ( I live on the east coast, and I guess they are not getting here until later.
Hi Stephanie,
I’ll keep checking to see if I can find them online. Do you live near a major city? Sometimes readers here will mention if they see certain products at stores.
I live in Columbia, SC. I totally appreciate the help. Maybe now I can stop looking like the crazy drugstore stalker lady, lol.
I sure hope we get these Christmas Palettes here in Canada. They look pretty good!
Karen, you could totally put The Situation in his place! 🙂
Shows I would not want to be on: Survivor Man and Man Tracker-have you seen this show? You’re basically hunted down by two guys on horses in the woods. No thanks!
Hi Tracy,
I hope you get them too. They’re a lot of fun and so affordable.
LOL re: The Situation. I gotta say — even though he grosses me out to no end, I gotta give the man props for being able to cook and clean. That’s pretty hot.
I’ve seen Survivor Man but have never heard of Man Tracker. That show sounds like my nightmare!
BTW, I just found another show I never want to be on called Pregnant and in Peril. NO THANKS!
cannot find those anywhere too … i soooo want those palettes!
Hi Nina,
NOOO! What is going on in your neck of the woods? It’s like the beauty gods are having a conspiracy.
i know righttt???? its insane – were always late!
ooh! Sugar Plum Fairy looks soo good 🙂
Hi Appu,
The dark colors in that palette steal the show. 🙂
You could probably whip up a killer smokey look with it!
Have you ever watched ‘I Survived’ on Biography? That’s an amazing show, but you will never feel safe anywhere, ever again.
Hi Amber,
As much as I’m intrigued I’ll have to pass on not feeling safe anywhere ever again.
Okay, I need to stop watching doomsday TV…
Oooh, lovely!!! Thanks for sharin, Karen!!! (Lame rhyme, I know. I start rhyming when I’m stress, and well, I got some stress cookin’ right now).
I would not want to be on ANY reality show. People don’t need to know how much time I spend primping or how I look sans concealer. Oh no no no NO.
Hi Indoorkitty,
Stress cooking, oh no! At least your channeling your stress into something delicious.
Are you doing a little better now? I hope so.
Wow they look better than I thought, and it’s cheap too. I’m going to try walgreens and cvs. I even tried wal-mat and target, still can’t find them.
I’m really liking Snow Sprite! I need to stop buying makeup, though, and the moms doesn’t like shimmer, so I guess she won’t be finding these in her stocking either 🙁
I totally hear you on all those shows! I didn’t have too much of an issue with “I Shouldn’t Be Alive” until I saw the episode where this woman got mauled by a mountain lion and got her face all jacked up. I think I could do OK if I was stranded in the wilderness, but the idea of a massive fanged critter grabbing me by the head is a major hell no.
Another one I don’t want to be on? “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” on MTV. Dating a total tool bag is bad enough… flaunting it on tv is horrifying and pathetic all at the same time.
I really want to get Golden Goddess, but that black from Sugar Plum Fairy is calling my name.
And I now have crazy fears of everything, thanks to watching Unsolved Mysteries as a kid when I was home sick. I always check in and under my car before I get in, and I always mix up my running path so I never see the same people. Can’t be too careful. Thanks, Robert Stack, for making me paranoid of the world. 😛
Snow Sprite shadows have better pigmentation than Sugar Plum Fairy. But both palettes are pretty…and the price is even prettier! 😉
Nice palettes for the price.
What’s even worse than “I shouldn’t be alive” are those shows about parasites on Animal Planet. I forget the name, let me go look… “Monsters Inside Me.”
They’re true stories about people who went on awesome vacations and come back with super scary/gross parasites. Like, they swim on their eyeballs, or millions of them that hide just under the skin.
Yep, freaks me out hardcore.
EWWWWW.
I don’t want to be on that show either.
My local Walgreens started carrying these about two weeks ago. I picked up these two and the Christmas ELF palette–the red, my God the red! Golden Goddess didn’t appeal to me as much because I (like most girls) have 294,519,028 neutral eyeshadow shades and just don’t feel like they were unique enough to warrant a purchase for me, but I have some friends in mind that might like it! I am enjoying Snow Sprite the most.
These palettes are super for the price! They can be chalky at times but for the most part they blend really well.
I would love to see you do a look with the Christmas ELF WnW palette! Work it girl!
Hi Danielle,
I’m super psyched about Snow Sprite. Have you tried applying the colors with a wet brush? I think I’m gonna that!
Sorry, I might NIGHT ELF. lol. The Night ELF palette
I have been checking for the past couple weeks, and *finally* on Tuesday, the Meijer near my house got these palettes in! I got Sugar Plum Fairy. So far, I really like it. Definitely worth $5! I’ll have to try some of the singles now!
Hi Alison,
So glad you were able to find it! What do you think of the lighter shades? Are they powdery?
I do think the lighter shades are on the powdery side, but I still think they’re not bad to work with. My main problem is that I totally underestimated the pigmentation on that dark shade (bottom right) and ended up with some maaaaajorly smokey eyes! Haha!
Ooh these look nice – I’ll have to keep an eye out for them!
“born on a bad day” is another show I’d never want to be on!
With you on that one.
I wonder if the same twisted mind is behind all these shows!!
Can’t find these anywhereeeee!!! =[ Well, since they’re holiday palettes, there’s still hope right? The holidays, especially Christmas (which I think these are aimed for) aren’t really in swing yet. I want them sooooo baaaadddd!!!!! =[ Wonder when these are supposed to be hitting stores, and how long they’re supposed to be in stores…
UPDATE! I finallyyyyy found these babies. Thing is, the three closest Walgreens around me are either really smart, or really evil; they waited until the day AFTER the WnW BOGO to set these out. grrrrrrr! that didn’t stop me from snatching up the ones i wanted right away though =P
Kinda sad, I cant find these anywhere yet
I love these too i managed to find 3 at a duane reade in Brooklyn im missing golden goddess and thats the one i really really want.. i have been on the hunt in every drugstore i can find lol.
Hey guys,
Is anybody here from Columbia, SC? MBB reader Stephanie is looking for these palettes and can’t seem to find them in her neck of the woods. If you know of a store that sells them in the area please let us know here the comments!
I got 3/4 palettes . I’ve been to a few walgreens & only found em at one.. But the purples my fav..I want a backup especially now cuz their 50% off
Karen, I’ve wanted to try the Wet & Wild shadows before but I always stop myself because I don’t think these shadows are dermatologist- or ophthalmologist-tested. Do you think I’m being too picky if I don’t purchase make-up because of that?
Hi LC,
Both those terms are common in makeup marketing. Unfortunately they don’t necessarily guarantee that a product is any better; because the terms aren’t standardized, it can mean a number of things — a company could’ve had several derms do extra testing on a product, or they could’ve found one person to give a recommendation.
It would be great if one day a governing body like the FDA clearly defined what these terms mean. I think it could only help us as consumers.
I hate that I cant find these anywhere 🙁
Hi Kristen,
Oh no. Apparently they’re MIA in a lot of places. Do you live near a big city? Maybe somebody else here will know where to find ’em.
It’s funny to see this review on here- I just bought the Sugar Plumb Fairy palette earlier today! I also have the Lorac Private Affair collection, and I was surprised at how similar some of the shades were. Great buy for the price, although I agree that the lighter shades are definitely a little “powdery.”
Sorry for the second comment, but just had to share that I found these at my local Walgreens (I’m in the Northern Virginia area). The store was sold out of all except the Golden Goddess (which I bought and am LOVING), but these guys are not located with the rest of the Wet ‘n’ Wild stuff — they’re on an endcap in a special display. FYI. 🙂
Oh, hello Sparkly Delight! $5? Seriously? How awesome is that glittery red in Sugar Plum Fairy? It’s like Dorothy’s ruby slippers for your eyes! 🙂
You definitely made me LOL on the camping. I always feel awful for the actual people in Shouldn’t Have Survived (when they interview them between cinematic reenactments of their trauma). Not only have they lived through these horrors, but now they’re taking about it on TV. It must be awful. Fear Factor lost me on the first gross eating challenge years ago. Speaking of, have you ever seen the old SNL skit with the Bass-o-matic. That gives me that worst gag reflex; I can’t watch it!
Hi Kim,
Hmm, I’ve never seen that skit. If it involves gagging then I don’t ever want to!
I just watched an episode of I Shouldn’t Be Alive the other day when a dude got into TWO airplane crashes in ONE DAY. Talk about crappy luck!
That *is* bad luck. The last one I saw was a shark attack. I know it’s rare but I can’t help but think of what I’d do in that situation. My heart rate was through the roof just watching!
The skit is basically a fake infomercial about a blender that’s for making raw bass (the fish) milkshakes. It’s funny to my friends with strong stomachs but I get woozy!
LOVE LOVE LOVE these! I’ve developed an allergic reaction to talc and this is the only eyeshadow that my eye area doesn’t react to (even though it does contain talc), and the colors are gorgeous, buildable and stay put! Believe it or not, I purchase mine at either Giant or Harris Teeter (I live on the East Coast). Great product and the price – you just can’t beat it!
Hi Mel,
Thanks for the heads up on the stores! 🙂 Which palette is your fave? Right now I’m loving the blues and greens in Snow Sprite.
These are actually 50% off if you purchase them at Walgreens, I got all 4 holiday palettes for 10.00. Tomorrow is the last day for the Wet N Wild 50% off sale.
I FINALLY found these at my local Walgreen’s today! I got the last of them! I love Wet n’ Wild’s shadows and these palettes in particular are gorgeous!
I went to FOUR differen’t Walgreens (and a Rite Aid) and finally found these. I got the same two as Karen (Suger Plum Fairy & Snow Sprite), plus I picked up the Night Elf…..for $5, I’ll try it….
I picked up two of these today at Walgreen’s. The sale is still going, so they are $2.49 a piece. I may go back tonight and get the others, they didn’t have many left 🙁 They are AWESOME though.
I picked up 3 of the 4 pallete’s and they are great – I haven’t used WnW since I was 12 and I have to say these are pretty darn good quality for 5 bucks
