What’s that old saying? When it rains it pours? I try to remember that this surge of stuff on my calendar is only temporary and something we all go through from time to time. We’re busy gals, after all, with places to go, pets to appease and shoes over which to obsess. 🙂

Speaking of obsessions, I haven’t had a lot of time between errands and events to do my makeup this week, so I’ve been trying a new day-to-night routine using a mix of MAC Bloggers’ Obsessions items and pieces from the permanent collection. Here’s a look that with a few simple tweaks can take you from work to dinner/drinks.

As a bonus, you won’t have to haul your entire makeup collection around to switch things up — a HUGE plus if you’re already loaded down with technology (i.e. cameras, laptops and cell phones with 800 pictures of your cat).
Day look
When I have meetings and errands to run during the day, I like simple, conservative looks designed to subtly enhance my features while drawing just a little attention to my face. In a professional environment, I want people to see me, and not the multi-colored, neon eyeshadow on my lids, you know?
A look with slightly smokey eyes, soft matte cheeks and a nude lip fits the bill.

Night look
I like to give myself a little bit more room to play with color after the meetings end and the ties loosen up, and taking this look from daytime to drinks is a snap. If I’m pressed for time, I’ll opt for the simplest way to switch things up, by keeping the same eye makeup but going with a bolder lip.
I might layer a punchier hot pink lipstick beneath a nude gloss…

…or reach for a coral gloss!

If, on the other hand, I’m in the mood to play up my eyes, I may smoke out my eye makeup instead, lining my lash and water lines with a dark pencil, smudging out the edges, and then packing on a shadow in dark gray or taupe.

I’ll usually pair a look like this with nude lips to keep as much of the focus on my eyes as possible.

And for something sassier, with a sharper edge, I’ll often reach for a dark purple gloss.

With just a few quick adjustments, it’s easy to go from meetings to dinner/drinks (or from meetings to Petco).

Yes! 🙂 What are your Jazz and Rock ‘n’ Roll’s favorite toys? Tabs loves anything attached to a piece of string.
They like my shoelaces, expensive makeup brushes (not the cheap ones), bottle caps and this small plush fish that Rock n Roll goes crazy for. It’s like she has a vendetta against that poor fish!
I have to buy them another feather teaser. They destroyed the last one.
Oh, your kitties have good taste in makeup brushes, LOL! Maybe they think they’re another cat?

I was already buying the lipglasses but after seeing the looks you combined them with using the collections shadows I bought 3 of them too. Hocus Pocus and Sparkle, Neely, Sparkle, were “maybe laters,” to me.
But yu paired them with those 2 eyeshadows and i was sold. I just SNS doesn’t have the fallout I’m thinking that it will. It’s a shot in the dark as no one gave any constructive critiscism (which is understandable). But I went for it.

You’re welcome. 🙂 I’ve found the key to the EvRev/In Synch Combo is to blend line and fill the lips with In Synch first, and then blend with a finger before applying EvRev. It’s seriously my new favorite nude lip combo… I hope you love it!

I love this post! I ordered Evolution Revolution and Cacqui. While Evolution is something I would normally purchase and feel comfortable wearing, Cacqui is all new to me. I’m actually kind of nervous on how I’ll like it, and if I’ll actually wear it. We do have a similar complexion though, and it looks great on you, so I have high hopes!

Guuurl, I had no doubt I would love it. You made it, how could I not?? I tried it last night with Hibiscus (ZOMG amazing) and Vegas Volt. Soooooo pretty. It is gorgeous on its own too. I want to try it over my Bare slimshine as well and over my favorite lipliner by Burberry (called Sepia…it was waaaay more than I normally pay for makeup but I couldn’t say no at the time). This is my very first comment but I just had to tell you that when I first learned about this collection and read about the products I knew that I would absolutely be buying Evolution Revolution. But then when I saw this picture using Woodwinked (my favorite eyeshadow of all time) and Hocus Pocus, I just knew that I had to buy both. I would have never thought to put those two together and they are gorgeous! I wore them today with the ER lipglass and received so many compliments. I really want to know if there is a dupe in the MAC eyeshadow collection for Hocus Pocus? I live in the United Arab Emirates, so I doubt the Bloggers’ Obsession Collection will ever come here. I did manage to get your Evolution Revolution lipglass online (which btw, is a very pretty shade, at least that’s what I can make out in your pics. Cant wait to receive it!). But Hocus Pocus is sold out everywhere.
