Antonym Cosmetics is the new Wet n Wild, YAY!
Wait…what?
Well, they are called Antonym, a word that means opposites, so they actually remind me of Hourglass.
They’re a five-year-old Miami-based cruelty free organic/eco-luxury makeup line (read: expensive), and their beautiful bamboo packaging and marbled powders instantly caught my eye on the Sephora website.
Unfortunately, eco-luxury usually means expensive, and it does in this case. Their Skin Esteem liquid foundation is $52 (!), but it delivers awesomeness for that price.
I’ve been wearing Tan for about a week now, and I’m into it, even if it is a tad too warm and too dark for my winter coloring (I just sheer it out). Tan is one of six satiny, mousse-y medium-coverage shades. There’s also a Nude, Beige Light, Beige Medium Light, Beige Medium and Dark, and Tan is the second from the darkest one, so the shade selection is limited.
If you like NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint, but you’ve always wanted an organic version, hello! —–> pointing right here. Give Skin Esteem a try. It has a similarly satiny, natural-looking, pore-blurring finish that elegantly evens out your skin tone all day long.
Amazingly, the formula, which layers well underneath powder, blush and bronzer, feels smooth and slippery like it contains silicone, but that’s due to jojoba oil instead.
The thing is, it’s still tricky to apply. If I swipe or rub, it streaks and pills up, but when I blot my skin first with a paper towel to remove any excess oil, pump a little of the product on the back of my hand, then gently pat (the patting is key here!) it on my face with a wet Beauty Blender, that works well. So pat, pat, pat to blend, blend, blend. Don’t swipe! Do a thin layer, then let it dry, and assess whether you need more. If you do, repeat with another thin layer.
If you follow this method, your skin will look naturally flawless, both in person and in those beautiful selfies you take of yourself and your cat. 🙂

That is a lot of work for an expensive foudation, but the finish on you is so beautiful! It really looks like nothing on your skin in the pictures, just like perfect skin!

I saw that you were wearing some Antonym stuff in a FOTD recently, because I didn’t recognize the brand. It looks beautiful on you and I’m sure it will be great for people looking for organic options. A bit too fussy for me, of course, which is fine since it’s also a bit too spendy! 🙂
Seriously though why can’t all foundations be, like, $14.99? That would be too wonderful, I guess. Are you still using Tarte these days?
I know – I feel like I’m almost desensitized to Sephora prices thanks to our friends at Chanel and Tom Ford. However, I’d be thrilled with $14.99! Yes, Tarte is still my daily go-to. I tried a couple of samples from Hourglass and Estee Lauder, and a fuller coverage from Tarte since they came with my Sephora order. The medium coverage is nice looking but I sort of feel like my skin can’t breathe (which I know is ridiculous). Plus, the blending takes so much longer. I felt like I was buffing for 10 minutes. 🙂

The foundation looks nice, maybe a bit too warm, but if it feels good, who cares! It probably wouldn’t work for me since I don’t use the Nars Matte Skin Tint.

It’s not as warm when it’s sheered out, which is how I usually wear it. I can’t believe you haven’t tried the NARS Matte Skin Tint. It’s really great!

LOL, it’s really not that hard, I promise. Just don’t swipe! It’s pretty easy, and you don’t need a lot.
I am a fan of the NARS velvet skin tint but the price : ouch lol! I just have too many foundations to use up though!
