All Chanel-ed out, yo!
Hey, homies. How’s it going today? I’ve been up to a whole lot of nothing so far, having pretty much wasted away the day surfing the web, but I did find a few interesting links.
I took the top picture after yesterday’s Chanel Master Class at Macy’s. I learned a few new tips (which I’ll share soon) and discovered the gorgeousness that is the Sparkling Satins eyeshadow quad ($56).

I asked one of the instructors which quad she likes best, and she handed me Sparkling Satins. Part of Chanel’s permanent collection, it’s a powder quad with four shimmery shades of silvery blue, gold, pink and black. Have you ever played with it before?
I ended up falling for it *hard*. 🙂

Even though he’s an international modeling superstar, Tabs is still surprisingly down to earth. He likes the simple things — gravy, a warm lap, and seeing his face on the cover of Allure.
The newest issue arrived in my mailbox this week… Imagine my surprise when I saw his furry mug gracing the cover! 🙂
I try to not to be a stage mom, yet I can’t help but feel proud of his work. Here are some of the earliest Sundays with Tabs, going all the way back to August of last year.

New York native Scarlett Johansson (born November 22, 1984) has spent more time near the top of more best dressed lists and sexiest woman alive lists than almost anyone else over the past few years. The actress, singer and global spokesmodel for brands like Dolce & Gabbana Cosmetics, L’Oreal, Mango, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein and Reebok regularly sets style trends and makes fashion statements, and I like that she’s not afraid to take chances with her look.

Before I signed up last week, I thought Twitter was just another glorified chat program, another time-wasting instant messenger filled with people tweeting their bathroom breaks and eating habits.
Truth be told, there is some of that on Twitter (and I do it too)…

But there are also tweets like these (from a search for “eyeshadow tips”):

And these (from my unfiltered stream today)…

It’s easy to find and follow the conversations of people who share your hobbies and interests, just as it’s easy to unfollow people who don’t. Follow only as many people as you want to (as many as you can handle), or download a free program like Tweetdeck, which adds the ability to group conversations and filter tweets by topic.
I’m still new to Twitter and figuring out the ropes, but I think I can already tell why it grew 1,928% over the past year.
It’s fresh and relevant, attracting people of all interests and walks of life. News spreads virally on Twitter faster than anywhere else, even TV! Professionals use it to share details on their latest products and services, and businesses use it to keep consumers up to date. It’s also widely used to share discounts, coupons and to get feedback from people in a flash.
One week in, and I’m already hooked!

Happy Saturday, ladies. 🙂 I wanted to post some pictures of the new Benefit It Girl collection for fall 2009 before heading to a Chanel Master Class at Macy’s this afternoon.
I hope this gives you an idea of the collection. So far the lipsticks are kinda blowing me away.

Full Finish Lipsticks from left to right: Breakup Rumor, Fame Game, Label Lover

Velvet Eyeshadow in I Cannes & I Will!
It Girl’s a small collection of six pieces for lips and eyes, and the colors are definitely pretty, but what I’d characterize as traditional for fall: plum, berry, pewter and pink.
The release includes three new Full Finish Lipsticks ($18) in Breakup Rumor (a shimmery golden plum), Fame Game (a shimmery cool pink) and Label Lover (a shimmery golden peachy pink).

Top row: Full Finish Lipsticks in Breakup Rumor, Fame Game, Label Lover. Bottom Row: Velvet Eyeshadow in I Cannes & I Will! Swatches done on NC35 skin.

From left to right: Breakup Rumor, Fame Game, Label Lover, I Cannes & I Will! Swatches done on NW20 skin.
I’m a little bummed that there aren’t any Creaseless Cream Shadows in this release, but at least we’re getting three Velvet Eyeshadows ($19), yay!
There’s one new shade — I Cannes & I Will. It’s a shimmery plum. The other two colors, Fawn Over Me (a shimmery beige) and Where There’s Smoke (a shimmery pewter), are re-promotes of colors that are currently available.
The collection arrives at Benefit counters next month but is already available online (Full Finish Lipsticks and Velvet Eyeshadows).

Breakup Rumor

Fame Game

Label Lover
I’ll post updates with swatches of Fawn Over Me and Where There’s Smoke soon.
I’m off! Be back in a few. 🙂

P.S. Tabs has been hanging out with some local musician cats in the neighborhood, and one of them put together this short music video…
