Smashbox is breaking away from the summer pack with the new Untamed collection (on sale now), ditching their teal, bronze and gold competitors (hello, Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, Laura Mercier Mediterranean Sea and Urban Decay Get Baked) with a palette of tan, reddish brown, taupe, purple and green.
It’s a relatively small collection with a minimalist vibe, yet there’s enough color among the blend of creamy and shimmery finishes to create some interesting looks. 🙂

While having dinner with a couple of my BFFs last month, my girl J-Money surprised me with a gift — the Aquis Microfiber Hair Towel ($18).
With the care one reserves for items of great value and importance, she looked me dead in the eyes, placed the package in my hands and said, “You’ll understand its power soon enough.”
The Aquis Hair Towel is made from a special microfiber fabric supposedly able to absorb far more water than a regular cotton towel. Awesome, because my hair retains a lot of water and takes forever to dry.
After two weeks with the Aquis, I think I understand why J-Money treated it with such reverence — the thing really works!
Normally, I wrap my hair up with a towel when I step out of the shower and leave it on for about 15 minutes before taking it off to air dry. The process takes about three hours to thoroughly dry my hair.

I’m like a fashion chameleon! 🙂 Mostly, I’m a jeans/tank top kinda girl with a penchant for funky shoes and costume jewelry, but I’m also comfy in preppy clothes, retro ’40s or edgy clothes, too. It really depends.

I wish the work was more predictable and steady. I can never tell how many freelance assignments I’m going to get in a given month.
To start working some push-ups into my daily routine, to take a couple 10-minute walking breaks throughout the day, to get to bed by a decent hour every night and to squeeze in a couple cheesy Lifetime movies on TV

How’s it going, girls? What are you up to?
Did you see any movies this weekend? I saw a hilarious, campy Bachelor parody on Lifetime called I Want to Marry Ryan Banks, LOL! It’s starring Jason Priestly, who appears to have stopped aging in 1990.
Right now El Hub and I are off to catch X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
I asked Tabs if he wanted to come with us, but he’s busy looking for his signature scent. He’s not a fan of spicy perfumes like Clinique Aromatics Elixr, which he described as “sketchy.”
He’s more a J’adore kind of cat.

Mine was learning (the hard way) not to use a blow dryer every day.
At one point I had hair crispier than a bucket of the Colonel’s Kentucky Fried. It was awful!
These days, I air dry and limit blow drying to once a week. Now my hair feels healthier, for sure.
