Good morning, glories! Rise and shine.
Is it just me or did March skip us entirely? Next thing you know it’ll be summer.
Before we get too far into April, I thought I’d glance back at March one last time. It was a BIG one for beauty, and here were a few of my favorite posts. 🙂
I tried to change my outlook yesterday with flowers, looking online for spring bouquets. I thought about this freesia and rose bouquet by Martha Stuart but chickened out at the last second.
Instead, I reached for similar colors — peach, green and pink — and tried to use them in a spring-inspired makeup look.
These glosses are like non-stick, vanilla-scented (but no taste) drugstore versions of MAC Lipglass. Each tube packs may-jah color and shine, delivering added moisture as well, and they last for hours on my lips without budging one bit.

Wednesday, April 1, 2009: WOOT!
So how was your hump day? Earlier today I turned in that paper I’d been working on, so I’m happy that’s off my plate. 🙂
I ended up writing about a recent episode of Terry Gross’s Fresh Air on National Public Radio.
In the episode, Terry interviews Nancy Kay, a veterinarian and the author of Speaking for Spot: Be the Advocate Your Dog Needs to Live a Happy, Longer Life, a book about making sound health care decisions for your pet (cats and dogs).

It’s there if you look hard enough.

…that I have NO IDEA what’s going on here.
Why is Wolverine looking so possessive of this lamp post thing-a-ma-bob?
Why does it hold a single, sad-looking lollipop?
Was somebody sipping a little too much of granpappy’s special “cough syrup” when they designed this thing?
So many questions!

Isn’t fate amazing? If Johnny Depp hadn’t turned down the lead role of John Smith in the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Brad Pitt (born William Bradley Pitt on December 16, 1963) and Angelina Jolie might’ve never merged forces to become the all-powerful entity that is BRANGELINA!
I think Brad’s gorgeous even when he sports the long locks (not my favorite look on him).
Hey, Brad, if you want a lil’ Filipino baby up in the mix … call me (just kidding, El Hub)!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

After working on my paper last night, I rewarded myself with an at-home pedi using Barielle’s new nail polish in Decadence ($8), a shimmery hot teal.
It’s one of six new shades from Barielle’s summer collection, and I think it’s my latest favorite polish!
It’s starting to warm up out here, and Decadence’s deep ocean blue really fits with the program.
These close ups *barely* do it justice.

Get a load of that shine!

You could easily skip the top coat.

It’s raining coral blush, hallelujah! I dunno about you, but I love coral blushes like drag queens love sequins.
A couple weeks ago, Chanel busted out the summer Cote D’Azur collection with their new coral blush, In Love ($45).
It’s one of several coral blushes to arrive on department store makeup counters over the past couple months.
Are you a coral blush kinda girl (or boy!) wondering which new blush to try?
Here’s a comparison swatch of In Love alongside two of my favorite coral blushes to come out recently, Benefit Coralista ($28) and Dior Coral Riviera ($42).

Swatches from left to right: Dior Coral Riviera, Benefit Coralista, Chanel In Love
Of the three blushes shown here, I think it has the finest shimmer. If you like the way bronzers look on you, you might really love Dior Coral Riviera blush.
