I vaguely recall hauling a basket of Jane Cosmetics eyeshadows one night many moons ago…

It may or may not have been a dream, but I remember my friend Cindy and I stopping by a drugstore in the middle of the night on one of our 1990s clubbing adventures (during which I may or may not have enjoyed Boone’s Strawberry Hill).

I remember dropping pan after pan of matte brown eyeshadow into my basket (it was the ’90s, after all) and thinking, “This is the greatest idea ever!”

Too bad I can’t remember what happened to all those eyeshadows or where they went. Maybe it was just a dream…

One thing I do remember, though (at least I think I do) was that the packaging wasn’t this cute. I’m pretty sure this was before the pans had patterns.

I’ve been playing with a few of the 45 available shades lately, namely Rosy Posy, a fun, shimmery pale pink perfect for brightening up the inner corners; Matte Willow, a neutral golden brown like a super sheer version of MAC Cork; and shimmery copper Eclipse, which looks fab paired with purple liner.

Just like the were in the ’90s, they’re available now at drugstores ($8 each, in 45 shades). 🙂 You can also find them online and at Ulta.

These Pumpkin Macarons from Trader Joe’s are pumpkin crack, I tell ya! Even El Hub, who usually pooh-poohs sweets that aren’t covered in chocolate, was like, “Can I have another?” when I gave him one last night.

Pumpkin custard filling seasoned with pumpkin pie spice… YUM!

I found them in the frozen food aisle at TJ’s (12 for $4.99), right next to the ice cream.

By the by, Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride Tea takes ’em to the next level. 🙂

Weird and cool.

The powder I use to set my concealer (MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium) popped out of its pan a few days ago. I’m not sure how or why it happened. I’m just happy it popped out in one piece, to be honest.

I’ve used it almost daily for the past four years!

A little dab ‘ll do ya. I use a small amount under my eyes to keep my concealer from scooting, and it works great. Never looks like cake frosting and doesn’t settle into my fine lines.

When I picked up the powder, after my heart resumed beating, I turned it over and found some writing on the bottom.

It says “Made Since 1982” in a typeface that kind of reminds me of The Terminator movies.

I wonder if this is embossed on every MSF pan…

The NARS Guy Bourdin Cosmetic Pochette and Bad Camera Timing

NARS Guy Bourdin Cosmetic Pouchette, $75 — Having a heart-to-heart with the new NARS Guy Bourdin Cosmetic Pouchette, ba-dum-bump!

This (above) is the face you make when you see the cute hearts on the new NARS Guy Bourdin Cosmetic Pochette…

And this (below) is the face you make when you hear your husband yell, “TABS, NO!” and you turn your head exactly when the camera’s timer goes off.

So El Hub and Tabs were out on the deck yesterday, and when El Hub wasn’t looking, Tabs jumped up on the railing — a strict no-no in our house.

That’s about 20 feet above the ground, and Tabs isn’t exactly an agile circus cat, if you catch my drift. He’s a husky tabby with slow reflexes, or let me put it this way: sometimes when he falls while climbing his cat tower, he does not land on his feet.

El Hub walked over and snatched Tabs up before anything else could happen, but it still gave us quite a scare…

Doesn’t have anything to do with this leather makeup pouch, but it does explain my look of surprise in that picture.

The pouch, which has a zippered closure and a small zippered pocket inside, is limited edition and $75 (yikes!).

I could just tell you the dimensions…but I’d rather tell you what it holds. (OK, I’ll do both. It’s 7.75 inches wide and 4.75 inches long.)

One standard-sized round pressed powder compact, three lipsticks and a blush, or
One Fancy Feast Appetizer package (“Tilapia in a delicate broth”) and a handful of Turkey Flavored Temptations Treats.

It’s not exactly cheap at all, but it is pretty cute.

Get Fantastic $4 Fringe With Ardell’s 135 Fashion Lashes

I’ve stumbled on some pretty good beauty bargains lately, stuff down in the $5 or less category (Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Butter, anyone?).

These Ardell 135 fashion lashes are only $4 each! — and they’re fan-frickin’-tastic.

They’re incredibly lightweight (I barely feel ’em at all) and have a very thin band, so they’re comfy as heck, and because they don’t span all the way across the lash line, they’re also easy to apply.

I place mine toward the outer edge of my eyes, where they add a noticeable lift but don’t look too crazy. 🙂

And yeah, they’re only $4!!
