Yesterday El Hub and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary with a late lunch at The Boon Fly Cafe in Napa.

So, I joke all the time about wanting to eat a bucket of fries, and I finally got the chance! Boon Fly serves their fried strings o’ glorious potato goodness in an actual tin bucket.

No, really. It’s a real bucket.

Boon Fly is a bit off the beaten path, but if you’re ever out here for wine tasting and looking for grub, it’s a cute, casual joint with great service and yummy food. Highly recommended, especially the fries. 🙂

If I plan on leaving the house for the day, I always leave one of El Hub’s stinky shirts on the bed for Tabs to snuggle with. I think he finds it comforting. 🙂

If you ever need to find Tabs, check the hallway. He enjoys chillin’ there on the ’70s-style disco tiles. I think he likes them because the tiles are cool when the rest of the house is hot…and probably also because they match the color of his furry tum. 🙂

It’s so cute! — except when he makes me step over him whenever I have to walk through the hall, like he’s guarding it, or when he swipes at my ankles because he hates what I’m wearing (which is most of the time).

I really need to start charging him rent…

I needed a pick-me-up the other day, so I decided to bring home a bouquet of freesia flowers.

They smell so good!

Do you ever get yourself flowers just because? I have to remember to do it more often…

Just a few things I did on my Sunday afternoon. 🙂

I have a small garden on my living room deck, and most years, I just grow stuff for Tabs to eat (catnip, echinacea, cat grass and zinnia flowers), but this summer I decided to add some veggies and fruit (tomatoes are technically a fruit… I really enjoyed upper division botany.).

The cherry tomato plant is taking off! There must be 50 tiny tomatoes on it as we speak.

Yum! I think I’ll make a lemon fusilli and tomato pasta salad.

I also planted an early girl tomato plant, and it’s coming along, too. Slowly but surely. Only one lonely ripe tomato so far… Hurry up, early girl!

The snap peas and spinach are also well on their way…

Last, but not least, basil! There’s one healthy plant on my deck and one in my kitchen that I got from Trader Joe’s. I see pesto in my future. 🙂
