So they’re saying it’s going to be an El Niño year, and Rosie’s really excited about it.
She can’t wait to research one of the world’s most scientifically interesting weather phenomena.
Incidentally, she recently started storm chasing.
Yup, it’s one of her latest hobbies… 😊
As excited as Rosie is about the upcoming rainy season, this isn’t the first time we’ve been affected by El Niño around here. In fact, it was actually Tabs’s nickname (El Niño). He led a secret double life as a wrestler on the Mexican pro wrestling circuit.
Lucha libre and all that… 😁

Like all cats, Tabs had a dark side… He could see in the dark, loved sneaking around in the dark, loved stalking other cats in the dark, and just generally loved the dark. The only thing he did NOT love about the dark were the other cats who came sneaking around…like Harris, his long-time nemesis. Legend has it that Harris still haunts the circle. Well, at least that’s what they say. Here’s a look back at Halloween time, 2017, when Harris was going through his Michael Myers phase. 🤣
As soon as the door opened, Tabs shot off like a rocket! This morning he was over the moon to be going for his walk right before dawn, because, as you know, cats are crepuscular, and they get extra fired up at dusk and dawn.
It started out great, too. He had a spring in his step. First thing he did was dart around the corner toward his favorite bamboo plant, and then doubled back like a kitten and scooted up the steps toward the common area grassy knoll, where he likes to chomp down on grass.
Things were going fine until… Holy crap! That same long-haired tabby interloper showed up! We both looked up and there he was, silently watching us like Kitty Krueger from Caturday the 13th.
Rosie takes her job as a world-renowned feline physicist incredibly seriously, with a meticulous attention to detail and a deep commitment to logic and the scientific method.
When she’s in work mode, she even takes her fun seriously.
Despite her lifelong love of science, Rosie also believes that there are some things in this world that defy scientific explanation…
She isn’t too proud or set in her logical ways to deny the possibility that supernatural things exist.
In fact, she embraces these contradictions and scientific conundrums and even spends some of her free time investigating the occult!
It shocks some people to learn that she is an expert tarot card reader and holds a weekly seance for Novato cats…
Yes, it takes a big cat to accept that there are some things they don’t understand, things for which there is no simple explanation… 👽👻🔮🛸🎅

Happy October, friend. 🎃 A lot of people refer to this as pumpkin spice season, but I like to call it toe bean weather. And speaking of that, I think my tabby had the best toe beans in town. Here he was at the peak of his toe bean excellence. This post was from October 1, 2017. What do you think? Weren’t those toe beans gorgeous?
Whiskers, ear tufts, tums, tails and haunches always get the cat lady love, but I think toe beans deserve more attention.
If you’re already wearing your official crazy cat lady cap, welcome! You’ll probably know what I’m talking about, but if you aren’t/don’t, allow me to extend a warm welcome to The Land of CCLs! 🙂
Second of all, you know how cat paws have those soft pads, right? With the fat pad in the center, surrounded by the four little pads under their claws? Well, in casual CCL convo, those are referred to as “toe beans,” and methinks they’re lovely.
There’s a subset of the crazy cat lady community that’s kind of obsessed with them (from my working knowledge!), and I can see why, because toe beans are THE BEST.
Now that Tabs is, you know, in the mature stage of his kitty life, his toe beans have… Well, I won’t call them wrinkles. I’ll call them “experience lines.” His toe beans have more experience lines than they used to, and his toe beans aren’t as shiny as they once were. But I still 💗 them. They’re dainty and sweet, and whenever I touch them, Tabs throws me shade, as if to say, “Lady, it’s not healthy to be so into my paws. Get a life!”
Rosie has been feeling very overwhelmed lately. She has a lot going on between her professorship at MIT and her many feline physics grants.
You know how it is. Too many projects, too little time…
Basically, she’s stressed out.
It’s par for the course when you’re one of the world’s leading cat scientists. 🐱🥼⚗️
In addition to working on all of her existing projects, she deeply contemplated building a gravy-powered space rocket this weekend because of her personal vendetta against Elon Musk…
We don’t know why, but she decided to do something else instead with her time and talent. She decided to build a prototype of a time machine to send her food bowl back to when it was full.
The first test was a BIG success!
We’re all so very proud. 😹
Unlike Rosie, Tabs always knew how to unwind.
No matter how busy he was, he always made time to stop and smell the lady bugs.
That cat sure knew how to relax. 🐱

After weeks of intense study and low-grade panic, Rosie believes she is close to solving the famous Poulet Theorem, the mathematical equation that calcuates the quantity of chicken flavor crunchies that appear in her food bowl daily.
For reasons Rosie does not fully understand, there has been less food in her bowl lately. It is a matter of grave national concern…to Rosie, but she is a Nobel Prize-winning cat scientist, so if anyone on Earth can figure it out, she can.
(Basically, she’s gotten a little too chonky, which is exacerbating her kitty sleep apnea, so her vet recommended that she cut back on the free range grazing.)
Rosie spent all weekend at the College of Marin campus library in the mathematics section. She’s determined to figure this out, and when Rosie sets her mind to something, she does it. 🐱🚀
That reminds me, Tabs was also a very determined kitty; however he was usually focused on being charming and looking gorgeous…
He may not have been a genius mathematician like Rosie, but he definitely had a formula for feline success. 😹

According to the latest economic statistics, US inflation has leveled off, but everything is still so expensive! Ever since the pandemic, everything costs so much more, doesn’t it? Organic cat treats, cashmere, caviar, cans of Fancy Feast Gourmet Wet Gravy Lovers Cat Food — it’s all so pricey now.
During the last recession, things were expensive too, so Tabs took his business empire to the next level.
That was when he started a whole bunch of his side hustles, including his organic catnip juice bars and his network of kitty modeling cat charm schools.
That was also around the time he started branching out into acting…
And feline jewelry development…
Of course, by then he was already very successful. He’d already had a career as a professional feline football player and parlayed a lot of his football earnings into Tabs the Cat Industries, LLC.
Tabs is no longer with us, but Rosie has no intention of letting the business go bankrupt. With prices spiraling, she’s decided she needs a side hustle. Question is, what will it be?
Like Tabs, whe loves gardening…
And she’s flirting with the idea of kitty modeling…
Of course, she got one of her undergraduate degrees in kitty architecture, so that’s a possibility…
Or maybe belly dancing?
Hard to say. It’s a tough call. What kind of business do you think she should start? 🙂
